Horo, Nice dark city render. Great reflections. Good work on the abstract too, specifically the colouring. The terrains on this page are very good, very good. Great rendering too. The one with the Arbaro trees has a bit of cartoony character, thanks to the trees, I think.

Rembrandt, Very remarkable future city scene. Mining area with ringed moon has a great set of colours. The one with the lollipop trees is a weird colourful combination of items. And the swamp is a very good render! Great waves and water onto the beach in the new Erasmus render. The experimentation with photos is good for experimentation, but not yet well-worked-out, I think. Haven is another great example of your wide-screen renders but I like the icy fields of Zanzel even more. And temple is remarkable, a bit of Magritte by Rembrandt, with the dark sky and light terrain. And nice work on the eagles’ nest and ‘surf’s up’ too. Planet ‘l Haar has great beach and colours, but isn’t the mountain in the back floating a bit? Looks like I can see shadow underneath. This is gone in the postwork by Spuddy.

But mostly, Rembrandt, you must be working day and night on all those renders; where do you find the time, or how can you be so fast? Quite impressive!

Mermaid, A very lovely deep space render. Great use of the HDRI. And very nice looking abstract too.

Electro-Elvis, I first thought that moon was the end of the tunnel, but it is a dangerous flying zone!

Adbc, strange planet indeed. But nice render. The ‘simple landscape’ looks great, beautiful sky. Good space render too.

Spuddy, Fantastic beach renders. You make very good use of various options. The self-made terrain I find a bit dark, but it has a good light on the tree. Very nice way to make city ruin/terrain renders. Fitting colours too.

Pixeltrope, wow, wow and another wow! That is an amazing compilation of great Bryce animations.

Thank you all for the comments and efforts.

    ---

Spuddy - I can definitely see why you were going with that mirror adjustment. it does indeed look much better! The human brain is a funny ole' thing right? smiley

Somehow It just didn't click into my mind to tilt that background with the spuddyfied terrain. It gave a nasty shadow that I tried to artificially remove by giving it a "not receive shadow" but clearly that didn't work. The added rocks give it an enormous depth as well, very -and I mean VERY- well done! I love your buildings, they all look great.

Hansmar - About that working day and night.. Well, it's mostly night or late evening. During the day I can sometimes do some preliminary work on a render and mostly at night I have some time to myself.

That sounds worse than it is. I retired early some time ago from my day job -I was very lucky to have the means- to take care of my mother who is very old and in a wheelchair. That takes care of all of my days when I am on standby for her. I am surprisingly busy most days. smiley

I absolutely love working with Bryce, making up little stories (which are also great for improving my English) and by these means escape a little bit into my own head.

    And speaking of stories:

    ---

    From the Galactic handbook

    Planet t'Waellant.

Most famously known for the Kraal medallions.
Named after one of the great houses on old Earth, planet Waellant was bought by the brotherhood of affluent magnificents, a club of very rich men on old Earth.
The brotherhood sought a place to live in splendour, away from the common man and built their grand houses on extensive estates with enough room for themselves and their domestic staff.
Whithin a century or three most of the domestic staff left their employers to their own fate and wandered off to find a place of their own.
Small settlements arose outside of the estates where people lived in what can only be called delightfull poverty.
With plenty of fish, hunting game and fruit trees available, a semi tropical climate and an adversity to work, the population of these small settlements or as the people called them "Kraals", soon developed a hunter-gatherer society in which most were happy with the way things were. They called themselves the Blissem (believed to be derived from the word blithesome)
With lots of free time to spend, the Blissem developed some elaborate rituals for things like weddings, funerals, arguments and coming of age.
If a Blissem man became seventeen years old he made his Kraal medallion and was expected to partake -for the first time- in "Kraal dancing".

    Kraal dancing
On the barren sandy waste of Smoel, the Blissem had erected thousands of tall upright stones.
Intricately carved and all of the same length of about 12 meters high with flat tops, placed close enough together to jump from one stone to another.
On nights that "the Eye of the Master", a small extremely dense moon rose above the horizon, the men of two Kraals would "dance in the moonlight" on top of the stones.
The two Kraals would start opposite one another and race to the other side of the densse 'forest' of stones.
Every man would carry a krys knife and while racing to the other side he would try to knock members of the opposite Kraal from the stones with the help of his knife.
The dance would be over if all survivors had reached their opposite side, then the two Kraals would gather for a great feast that lasted the rest of the night.
The Kraal medallions of any man who was knocked down and/or killed was given to the man who had made the kill or was the cause of the fall.
These medallions were hung on the neck just below the owners medallion.
A number of medallions together is known as a medallion train.
A dancer who died of natural causes was buried on the foot of a random pillar, together with his medallion or his train of medallions.

The custom of Kraal dancing slowly died out over the generations and the pillars fell one by one over the centuries.
Today, Kraal medallions, and medallion trains are highly collectible and fortunes are paid for them.
The only way to obtain a medallion or -even better- a train of medallions is to randomly dig for them between the remains of the pillars on the waste of Smoel.
However, the buriel grounds are fiercely defended by the still remaining Blissem kraals and any digger for medallions is killed outright.
This however does not deter the more reckless or desperate digger who comes in -mostly at night- to dig for the medallions that can mean instant wealth.
Practically all diggers however find a gruesome end between the remains of the pillars of the dancers in the moonlight on the lonely waste of Smoel under the ever watchfull Eye of the Master.

The sandy terrain is from Gaia, the ruin is a Spuddyfied terrain. I stole the sunshine filter and starry sky from the space construction kit and made the Eye of the Master from a crystal ball and a light giving it a somewhat sinister look.

And then -ofcourse- I added my favorite happy little cloudslab and put in a grave digger's scoutship which was a freebie.

In retrospect, I probably should have mirrored this render as well.

By the way the name Waellant is the name of the appartment complex that I live in. :-)

Thanks Rembrandt  yes the brain is quirky like that.... the added rocks are just your terrain placed in that way I only took things away nothing added except the copy paste of the small moon to give a bit of depth as it draws the eye back rather than stopping at the large planet. Thanks for letting me play with it

I like your last post but yes it would improve with a flip and a crop just into the ruin... play around. I always scan my landscape scenes for the best picture within the picture if you get my drift that's the beauty of digital art you aren't  restricted to what you lay down on paper; everything can be subject to change

Rembrandt - entertaining story again and nicely done render.

spuddy - nicely done jungle scene, your painting looks great. And yes, also for me a scene is seldom ready to show, I have 15 to 25 versions until I think it is good enough - or I get fed up with it.

spuddy - painting is really very nice. The scene with the zebra and the next one do not convince me, though very nice scenes, the lighting looks flat as if there is a lot of ambience that makes things glowing.

spuddy - definitely better - in my eyes. I'm always a bit reluctant to criticise because - in the end - the artist is always right. If he/she is happy with the accomplishment than the artwork is impeccable.

The object and materials are from Fifty Funky Shapes & Fifty Funky Metals. Within the chain circle a small sphere and around the whole scene a big sphere a bit transparent and somewhat reflecting. Lighting exclusively by the WhiteSphere HDRI.

Thanks Horo  no I never take any comment as a criticism and welcome all points of view i was torn myself about the lighting and the haze there are so many possible variations with digital works that I get a bit overwhelmed  at times ..toooooooo many decisions for a librian  my  scales end up flapping in the wind and I am seldom really happy with anything I do

bit of a visual mind bender  that ChainEye but very interesting...... nice job!

Thank you all for the comments

Spuddy - Very well done jungle scenes. They kept getting better and better. Placing all those plants must have been a fun job to do.

adbc - What an extremely nice bit of abstract work. Keeping it grey was a stroke of genius!

Horo - Reminds me of one of those caleidoscopes we used to play with as kids. very beautifull.

    ---

From "An informative notice for newly arrived customers" on the wall of the Golden Ridge inn.

Welcome on Sargoi, an always sunny planet with stunning desert vistas.
Every village, town or city is covered with enormous umbrellas to protect you from the sun.
The Sargoiim are a friendly people who heartily welcome any traveler with a liberal outlook on spreading his or her wealth.
However, be aware that stingy behaviour, a sour or lewd demeanor, public dancing and reckless driving can result in grievous bodily or mental harm.
The sargoiim are known throughout the galaxy as master poisoners. The art of poisoning is learned from a very early age.
The abundant fungi, moulds, mildew and saprophytes on Sargoi provide the base ingredients of an intricate number of toxins used in tinctures, elixirs, powders, tonics, decoctions, pastilles and even gasses.
The art of poisoning is considered a noble means of securing a Sargoiim's career or wellbeing and can -although mostly not lightly- be used in many circumstances.
From apprentice to grandmaster, any Sargoiim is well versed in detecting, recognizing and avoiding a great number of toxins.
Any Sargoiim will gladly tell you of his experiments with different types of toxins and the sometimes bizarre results his concoctions have on the human body or mind.

A short list of commonly known toxins:
Kluthe; A fast working toxin that clogs the blood.
Mergl; Slow working poison that destroys the longfunction over a period of weeks.
Duks; Causes a continual itch over the entire body.
jiqa; Causes immediate loss of memory.
Polk; Slow working elixer that causes progressive loss of controll over the bladder.
Yuga; Extremely fast working neurotoxic gas.

Since most of our guest have not developed an immunity to most common poisons, the Golden Ridge Inn has thoughtfully provided, without any further cost for the customer, drinking vessels that will change colour to green if any of the most common poisons is detected.
If a glass, mug or beaker changes colour on your -or any other- table in the inn, pleasse leave the taproom or outdoor terrace immediately and give warning to the proprietor.

Any of our staff will gladly sell you a basic kit with instructions for composing your own poisons.
We hope you will enjoy your stay.

Lots of freebies in this one but nothing special going on in this rather simple render. Placing the bits and bobs was a bit of work.

I came upon this idea while playing with the boolean objects. I used it to create some shattered glass and from that the story and the render wrote themselves.

The best way to see how this is done is by including the Bryce file itself.

Look at the attributes of each object (small A ot top) and it will become apparent how this is done.

    Have fun!

Rembrandt - very nice scene, I like the setup, and without doubt and the story that goes with it.Thanks for sharing the file, I did a broken glass render using Peter Sharpe's tutorial. You can view it here

Rembrandt - thank you. Good story and nice render from the Golden Ridge Inn. I did my first broken goblet on 17. July 2003 (my 76th render) following Peter Sharp's Tutorial (Bryce 4). You can find it on my website Gallery > Gallery 1 > Objects > Page 2.

mermaid - the one with the tree in it?
