River, I want to give you a big attaboy. I spent a happy morning converting my G3 wardrobe to G8. The outfit I particularly wanted to convert was the Demon Knight outfit. I had tried using Autoconvert, and the dragon basically melted into a blob. You can see him in the golden armor below. But when I used your converter, it came out perfectly. Bravo!

Thank you! I am glad it is working for you. And thank you for sharing your pics with us.
Interesting. Any chance of releasing the original option, as an alternative for outfits that go too low? Or would that complicate things?
Everything complicates things I will see if it is easy to add.
So I looked more into this. The alternate method IS used when you force footwear (because of crashes when the foot dialog came up with the new algorithm). So you can trick the script to use that algorithm on normal clothes. Turn off Use Foot Pose and Use Foot Dialog (so these don't get called for non-footwear items) and Force Convert Footwear on a clothing item. That will make the script use the old method which changes the underarms/shoulders slightly. You can try both the normal algorithm and the old one to see which one works better for you on a specific item.
I just picked up the female version and I'm wondering if it's ok to install this via smart content/connect or is it better to do it with DIM? ( can never remember if you're supposed to install scripts NOT via connect)

Thank you for your support! I personally recommend DIM.
you're welcome :) I am very slowly (VERY slowly LOL) working my way through your catalogue.
I'll install with DIM then, thanks :)
Also, I'm sure I'll find this out when I read the instructions, but out of curiousity - all my daz stuff is installed via Connect/smart content.....will that be a problem when converting?

No, it is not a problem how the stuff was installed.
I'm really impressed with the G3F to G8F converter!!! I'm still having a bit of trouble with high heeled shoes, but to tell the truth, there is very very very few shoes I want to convert. Except for those ridiculous DO fantasy/sci fi outfits where the pants stop at the knee/thigh and it can be tricky to find the right pair of high boots to match when using G8, I don't really need conversion of G3F shoes. So I'm really happy!
I picked up the Genesis 2 Female to G8F version this morning too! Had a quick play and happy with that one too!
Out of curiousity, why can't accessories (jewellery etc)/ props be converted? Is it because this solely focuses on clothing, or is there something about the way acc/props are made that makes them more difficult? (honestly, if someone could make a foolproof, easy click way of tranferring smart props - like weapons etc - from G3F to G8F, i'd probably give them my first born LOL )

Jewelry can probably be converted relatively easy. However, I am working on the hard part, conversion with pose and putting it in the right place, so it is taking longer

omg I am almost crying at how awesome the new G3F hair converter to G8F is. LOL. (couldn't find a thread for it so commenting here).
Just....OMG SO MUCH TIME SAVED!!! LOL. Yes yes, I know you can manually fit a G3F hair to G8F but dear god, how I hate fiddling with the x, y, z and scale. I can NEVER get it right. This saves so much time and works so damn well.
Now...will there be a Genesis 2, Genesis and possibly V4 one coming? (yes I'm greedy...)

I finally managed to use this tool, and it's very good, I'm satisfied with my purchase: there's a lot G3F wardrobe content at good price in the store, and with this tool you'll be able to use it on your G8F figures! :D
But may I tell you that at first I found it somewhat difficult to use?
The features "ignore bought items (activated by default...wtf???)" didn't make anything show at all, of course
Ignore previously converted items had the same problem (I use Daz Connect)
I used to confuse the "execute" button at the bottom of the page with the one above it, it caused some confusion and I had to load the folders multiple time before getting to it (maybe I'm stupid...) and it takes a lot to load all your library the first time.
When you want to add another directory, the utility automatically selects the last folder IT used, not the one YOU used, so you have to find that place again.
Couldn't the utility load the G8F itself?
When it asks me about the foot pose, I have no idea how the shoes actually fits...I don't know all of my products by heart! ^^
It would be cool if it showed the converted items in the "Products" tab! I use it most of the time
The easiest similar utility I've used is "G3 to G8 Pose Converter" from SickleYeld (sorry if I mispelled): you can add the script to your top bar, then just select the pose you wanna convert and launch the script, and it's much less confusing. So, if you want to improve your product, you could look at his work :D
In any case, your product already works, and I'm already satisfied! I just thought it would be useful to drop some ideas for improvement! :D

It could. It was a decision I made to simplify the script.

That adds a whole other level of complexity. The script would have to remember multiple conversions and put them in the same product. I started trying to do that and decided I didn't want to mess up my DB

This converter is much more complicated than the simple G3-G8 Pose Converter so the interface needs to be more complicated too. (if you have my Bone Doctor product, I have the G3-G8 Pose converter in there too and the interface is much simpler ).
After a nice experience with G3F/G8F clothes and hair converters, and G2F/G8F clothes converter, I've purchased the G3M/G8M clothes converter, but this time I can't install it!
I've tried either 4.10 or 4.11, and both DIM and Connect, but it always tells me that Daz can't find the files! Do you know what I'm doing wrong? I've never had this problem with anything before :'(

Strange. Daz is responsible for the installers. Have you tried installing through DIM?
Yes, I've also asked them in a separate thread, but we've not found a solution! :'(
Are there multiple versions installed? Perhaps they are interfering with each other?
No, just the 4.11 Public Build, but I've tried the 4.10 too to see if it worked!
Is it possible that the responsible is the fact that I've modified all the install folders? But every other product, including yours, has never had a problem!

It shouldn't, especially if the other converters worked. I meant multiple versions of MY products. @Allegra had the same issue it seems.
Some (not all) script products are written in a way that do not work with Daz Connect. If a product is installed with both Daz Connect and DIM, Daz Studio will always use the Daz Connect version.
@Allegra and @kamenko have error messages that contain references to Daz Connect. I recommend that you uninstall the product(s) with Daz Connect (from Smart Content). Then go to the Daz Connect "cloud" folder on the hard drive and delete any left over files in the subfolder for the SKU number of the products that you have uninstalled. The error message that you get tells you what the folder is. For example, Allegra has C:/Users/Shanina/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Daz Connect Library/data/cloud/1_55317. Then install the product with DIM. NO NOT EVER perform an update or install those products from Daz Connect after that. That will just recreate the problem.
The ultimate solution would be for script writers to make their products compatible with Daz Connect, so this issue doesn't keep happening. Perhaps Daz can provide PAs with the information necessary to do that. I believe it is possible, because some script products work fine when installed with Daz Connect.

Any possibility of a G2M to G8M convertor? I have money ready. :)
Funny you should mention that

Ya got me. :) My wallet is crying from pain, yet I am happy. :)
LOL I would much rather your wallet than you be crying from pain. So I rushed it out to relieve your pain
I am glad you are happy with them!
Jewelry can probably be converted relatively easy. However, I am working on the hard part, conversion with pose and putting it in the right place, so it is taking longer
soooo....you're working on one for accessories/props??
*excited dance*
Easy! Easy! I am working on it. But it will be awhile.
I have to convert a bunch of G2F and G3F clothing, thanks to you I can wait!!!!! LOL
omg I am almost crying at how awesome the new G3F hair converter to G8F is.
LOL. I am glad you like it. Yes, there will be more.
BTW, the thread for the hair converter is here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/295951/released-hair-converter-from-genesis-3-female-to-genesis-8-female-commercial#latest
I finally managed to use this tool, and it's very good, I'm satisfied with my purchase: there's a lot G3F wardrobe content at good price in the store, and with this tool you'll be able to use it on your G8F figures! :D
But may I tell you that at first I found it somewhat difficult to use?
The easiest similar utility I've used is "G3 to G8 Pose Converter" from SickleYeld (sorry if I mispelled): you can add the script to your top bar, then just select the pose you wanna convert and launch the script, and it's much less confusing. So, if you want to improve your product, you could look at his work :D
In any case, your product already works, and I'm already satisfied! I just thought it would be useful to drop some ideas for improvement! :D
Thank you for the suggestions. I am trying to improve these.
?
It could. It was a decision I made to simplify the script.
Neither do I! The Foot Poser Dialog is for problem shoes and you just need to experiment (I was just happy that I can use high-heels now! )
Thank for your answers! :D
I have to tell you sorry because I was talking about the G3F to G8F converter, but I guess it's similar! ^^
You're product is great, I just hope I've given you some good ideas! Happy holidays! :D
No, thank you! Happy Holidays!
