Hey folks, I could use some help regarding a render I'm currently working on!
This is obviously a WIP and a lot about it will still change.
The question I have is: Do either of those two characters remind you of someone, real or fictional? If so, who?

My main concern is that the sleeping character is too reminiscent of Jesus, which is an association I decidedly don't want!
Did you think of Jesus when you saw that picture? Thanks for letting me know!
Ariel? Sleeping beauty? Definitely not the character referenced in your block of black text. Since that guy was middle eastern born to parents who also were of middle eastern decent, and not ginger and covered in freckles.
Not the real historical figure, sure, but basically any bearded, long-haired white guy could pass for the pop culture representation of him.
That's true but if you live in Europe or America you're likely surrounded with images that depict him as whitewhitewhite...
I'm currently leaning towards getting rid of the scruffy beard since apparently my own mind went there. The facial hair of the two characters probably is too similar anyway.

Current freebie Brock for F4. Head morph and skin converted to G8.
I still don't know how to convert pre-G3 bodies to G8 without screwing up the posing, so the body morph here is just from SWOLE 8.

One of two male characters I've bought recently(ish): Joseph by Phoenix1966, over at Renderosity.
I could tell already from the promos that I wouldn't care much for Joseph's morph. His skin is spectacular though, especially his face. I do wish his torso/arms/legs were a little more textured with scars and imperfections to match his face. But even so, great black male skins are not that easy to find, and this is one of the best I've seen.
The above render uses Joseph's skin out of the box; the shape is dial spun and uses none of his morphs.
Now that I look at it, I'm actually not entirely satified with this render. The lighting makes his face look a little ashy and his face morph could use some more work. But since I've already rendered the thing I might as well upload it :)
It's also worth mentioning that Joseph comes with several hair pieces that look really well done, although I haven't used them in the above render.
I wish the forums had a 'like' button like the gallery does (because threads actually work and don't need refreshing 3-5 times before they load...). I'd have hit that button so many times.
I really like the pose and perspective in the picture of Joseph. He's ready to go sort out some nonsense.

Something I just kinda threw together haphazardly before going to bed and it it kinda came out... hawt?
His face is Brock for F4. I tweaked his eyes and lips, making use of Rarestone's morphs that I impulse-bought when they showed up in Fast Grab recently. His skin is Alistair, body morph from SWOLE.

Another person posing prettily while staring into the middle distance. Apparently that's all I have the energy for these days :)
I know I've used Soraya's skin several times in the past but this might actually be my first time rendering her. If so it was high time... I think she's very pretty.
Picked up Dreamlight's LA Pool for a good price. I kinda assumed speed and convenience were the main selling points of that product but it took me longer than expected to set up this simple scene. The lighting just didn't quite seem right and I ended up adding several additional lights. I'm also not entirely sure what that floor is supposed to be made of; I turned up its glossy roughness because it was rather shiny out of the box. I'm not going to return the product, but I'm not sure it entirely met my expectations. Maybe I have to spend a little more time with it.

The other character I bought recently. Falcon by SithLordSims shot right to the top of my wishlist the moment he had been released. I grew up in a country where that kind of oblong face is pretty common, so he looks like every guy I had a crush on as a teenager... but all grown up now :) And those downward slanted eyes... *sigh*
I generally love SithLordSims' men. So handsome! They are not photo realistic but I don't mind at all.

I've rendered Rune before but I'm not sure I did her justice at the time. I like this render a lot though. I like how her (out of the box) skin came out in this light and I like her (slightly tweaked) body shape. I also got to use a bunch of items from the bi-weekly freebies I collected over the months.

Some people have a trophy wall, or perhaps a trophy room. Olympia has a trophy spa.
I tried to use every bladed weapon, warhammer, helmet, and shield I have in my library. I almost got there; I ran out of patience in the end so there's actually one or two missing.
Some of the older items have weird object centres and are really hard to pose. If someone has a good solution to this I'm all ears...
Love how Olympia's skin glows in this light. She's one of my all-time fave characters!

His characters are like catnip to me... I can see that they tend to look a little samey* and yet I want every single one of them!
*no shade intended... most creators tend to make somewhat samey characters.
