Today in failure to not spend money: Nicholas for G3M by xtrart-3d is on sale for $3.50 at the moment, over at the other site.

His skin has no translucency or specular maps and I had some trouble transferring his morph to G8. DAZ kept crashing for some reason. But I eventually managed and for that price I'm not going to complain. And he's pretty cute! Possibly modelled after a young Ben Foster, I also see a little bit of Ryan Kwanten in him.

For the renders above I bulked up his body some and made some very minor changes to his face. He's mostly out of the box.

(No idea what's up with the stripes on the Octavius jeans on the first render... I looked at the maps and it appears to be intentional. What a strange choice.)

Folks may or may not remember me complaining about Rex' skin a while back. Well, I think it looks lovely here. I increased translucency and bump some, otherwise it's out of the box. I guess it's a matter of lighting, as it is so often.

If you're like me and bemoan the dearth of hunky East Asian men in DAZ-land, I'd like to bring Sith Lord Sims' Yuji for G8M to your attention (He can be found over at the other site and is currently discounted by 50%.) The above render is a "butched up" take on him, with a wider face, stronger jaw, and more muscles. Either way, I think he's a real looker!

Really? He does to me. He's certainly meant to be Asian. Eye of the beholder, I suppose...

I took a look at the actual character, and the renders on the product page look more like an actual Asian, although to be honest, it mostly just looks like the artist slightly reshaped the eyes and called it a day. Your renders give him much more European body type, skin tone and hair growth, leaving the eyes as the only real hint of Asianness, and there are plenty of Europeans with eyes like those.

Using bloom filter for the first time. I love the effect! But I vaguely remember reading somewhere that it'll drive up the render time, so I'm gonna look into adding bloom in post. Quick search already gives me several youtube tutorials. Anybody happen to know some specific do's and dont's about this?
