This seemed like a question for Hylas: what do you recommend as far as young adult black male skins for G8? I was using Darius, but I'm noticing irregularities in his diffuse maps. I love Jada and Jinx Jones' skins, and would happily port them over to male, but I was wondering if you had a recommendation. I'm looking for more or less the same skin tone as Darius, which leaves me with Silas (lighter than I'd prefer), Teen Kola (not much detail in the diffuse map) and Leroy (signs of aging in the maps). As far as PA characters go, it looks like most of them are by Emrys/Fred Winkler or HotLilMe, who are....not exactly my go-tos for textures, unless Emrys is collaborating with Morris. Is adult Kola worth picking up? Who are your must-have black men in Dazland?

edit: ugh, and Jada and Jinx both have underbreast creases baked into their maps. I also forgot about Zale, but he too is too old for my purposes.

I don't have Kola, can't comment on him...

I think you can make Silas quite a bit darker by mixing blue in his diffuse and SSS channel.

Thanks for the recommendations, Kingston was already in my wishlist and I added Tyrone. It turned out that the irregularities I was seeing were due to some strangeness in the displacement setup, so now that I've worked that out, I'm going to stick with Darius for now. Not surprised your recommendations were Faber and Redz characters, as I looked through a few of them in my own library and they were good, but not what I wanted.

Yeah, I was gonna ask what was wrong with Darius, but glad to hear it's resolved.

The Darius 7 skin that comes with the 8.1 essentials on the other hand does have visible seams on the thighs, last time I checked. Looks like something went wrong with the conversion :/

Also baked in eyebrows and facial hair, which is an absolute no for me.

I always kinda wanted a Furry character in the style of Micah or Lycanthropos but for G8M. The latest sale let me pick up 3 products that had been low-key on my radar for that purpose, and this is what I've come up with so far. There's some wonkiness around the ears because the HFS Ultimate Shapes head morph clashes a bit with the Wolfie and Sly Fox geograft. I hope I'll be able to solve that with Shape Splitter, but that's a project for another day.

I gone done did it, two things I told myself I would not do. I got a Premier membership (for one month only!) and invested in G9 (for toon purposes only!)

Why are you laughing? Stop laughing! This isn't funny!!!

I will stick with G8.1 for non-toon renders, but FilaToon is just too good. I have been asking for a better way to do cellshaded renders and this is exactly what I wanted! DAZ has made many decisions over the last few years that I didn't love but FilaToon is amazing and right up my alley, credit where credit's due!

Yes, FilaToon also works with other generations. I've been experimenting with G8.1 + FilaToon and I even got some decent results.

Then I loaded the free G9 FilaToon characters and instantly got much better results with much less effort. And I guess that was that.

So I spent a whole load of money in one go... the deals are very good today if you have Premier. The idea is that I now have pretty much all of the G9 content I need, for the time being.

The one thing I hope for now is some masculine, short hair as well as afro hair for all genders that look good in FilaToon. My hope is that FilaToon is supported long term and not just abandoned immediately, the way it happened with Sakura 8.

Hopefully I will have some renders to post soon. My muse has been spicy lately so most of my renders won't make it here... but we'll see.

Thank you for taking one for the team, and being our Premier test-bunny. (WM is not a fan of animal testing, but bunny just sounds inherently nicer than "rag" no?) I may have whined about the amount of toon stuff, but I'm actually curious to see your 2d works. If only my own muse would gain any sort of spice, especially pumpkin....

I like your renders of the forest lady a lot, BTW. Easy to see why you're happy with them. The ogre dude looks pretty cool. He'll make a good cartoon character, I think!

I don't really plan on exploring the Premier features that I won't have access to after this month, what's the point and my time is limited. But if anybody has specific questions about Premier, this bunny/rag might be able to help.
