I wanted a pale, gothic beauty that was a little less cartoony than Salem. This is a mix of Salem and Ai (and Aiko 8, whom Salem uses as a base). Skin of Salem, body of V8.

I got the Salamis' Mercenary set a while ago during some sale or other. Finally got around to playing with it a little. Usually it's really easy to convert 3Delight materials to IRAY, but with this set it took some time and fiddling. The helmet still isn't exactly the same shade of gold than the cuirass, for example. Frankly, I don't understand the logic behind how this set was textured... to be fair, I don't know much about 3Delight in general. In any case: Ta-Dah!

This is Flex... you know Flex. He's the dude you take home eventhough you know it's a bad idea. He turns out to be awful in bed and you're left rolling your eyes at yourself. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy do I keep falling for this?
I've been looking high and low for a surfer haircut like Ryan Hansen has in Veronica Mars. I tried to make Beach Hair work, but no matter how much I worked on the materials, it just never looked all that good. I think I finally found something with Taylor Hair. I did fiddle a bit with the colour and opacity maps, here's a comparison between the out-of-the-box blond and my tweaked version:
The character is a tweaked version of Andre, whom I impulse-bought when he was in Fast Grab. Not regretting it, he's cute :)

Dystopian Ninja is another recent impulse buy (there's been a few of those lately
) I'm not really interested in the sci-fi aspect of that set. But those trousers and sneaks are really cool, and reflective of real-world fashion in a way that the average DAZ product isn't.

While Olympia 7 waits patiently on my wishlist I dialled my own Amazon.
I've been fiddling with that face for a while now - morph, expression, make up - but I'm still not quite happy with it. Oh well, they can't all be home runs. What I am happy with is that I managed to make Adam Thwaites' Warrior Outfit work for me. Not to complain too much about a freebie but that skirt has some major issues out of the box. Applying dForce wasn't entirely straight forward but I eventually figured it out.

Oh, thanks a lot @Hylas! You tweaked that skin from G8m base? Awesome mate! Seems I never looked close enough at the base sking to see that its actually a neat starting point.
If you care to share the process I would be spiked, because that looks like a very believable dark skin type (the palm needs a tad lighter skin *wink*)
And the features turned out really nice as well, this guy needs more screen time :D
I think G8 base skin is underrated! Out of the box it looks pretty dreary, but only because of its weird tone, not because it lacks detail and realism. Tweake the tone and you get pretty decent results. It renders quickly, too.
For black skin I use "Levels" and "Hue/Saturation" to darken the tone. The main thing is to adjust the lips separately or your character will look like they're wearing lipstick. But you're right, I didn't think about the fact that black people have lighter palms and soles.

Tried to take Eden and shape her into Lupita Nyong'o.
First thought: I probably should stop trying to do celebrities... tried it a few times now and it never really works.
Second thought: She looks lovely, though! It's not Lupita, but she's lovely!
