Using UV swap for the first time. This is the skin of Ivana for G8F, a freebie by emotionaldreams. The lips were too bright and too pink, so I adjusted that in post. Otherwise the skin is out of the box. The brows and body hair are separate products.

Here's a more proper render of Ivana's skin on a guy. A few minor changes aside, the main difference is that this time I adjusted the maps directly, so I didn't have to adjust the lips in post.

I like those 2nd two sweaters.

I was just looking at ancient fish & marine life fossil stencils because I want to fake fossilise my bathroom walls using Venetian plaster and the prices for those stencils are crazy, they do look good though so maybe I'll buy them anyway.

@TigerAnne: Thanks! I'm decidedly not fameous though, don't worry! I suppose I sometimes work for some famous-within-industry-circles people, but that's about it.

@nonesuch00: Good luck with your bathroom renovations! Even if that whole paragraph comes a bit out of left field? Lol

Another person was talking about dinosaurs the prior post and I think fossil bones are a neat topic for 3D modeling. They must be hard to model though because you almost never see them in the DAZ Store.

I really, REALLY love this one!!!! You did a great job. Skin tone is nice, his tough expression, and the lighting is fantastic. :)

I might have not so accidentally stumbled on Dinosaur Erotica and read one or two. For research purposes. I can assure you I haven't written any. Yet. ;)

I'll have to look. I probably do. I seem to collect all the HDRIs free and otherwise. They're very handy lighting.

Oh, that's easy to ignore, I'm not talking about the kind of bones the other poster was talking about. Although since I keep pet birds dinosaurs probably are built like birds in that department and most of them probably danced like those Birds of Paradise and so on...so the dances might be entertaining.

I have a lot of free time lately. Can you tell?

First of all, yes, this lady hails from a universe where everybody - yes, also the men - leap into battle in fetish lingerie. Don't shame her for her cultural heritage!

All buffoonery aside, I wanted to create a character that was tough and sexy, but not too glamorous. I was thinking Rune 7, or Lucy Lawless as Xena. I'm not trying to recreate their actual faces, but a character in that spirit. Opinions are welcome, as always.

Currently cooking up a 2nd render with the same face, but a less ridiculous body morph and getup.

Same face, more subtle body. Godrays added in post. I had some fun taking the panty-baring Angeluz armour and draging it - kicking and screaming - into the realm of "marginally more plausible."

Does anybody happen to listen to the Dames & Dragons podcast? This is more or less how imagine Captain Loria (minus the Christian imagery, which wouldn't make sense.)

OMGosh, she's fantastic! I'm getting strong "Brienne of Tarth" vibes from the second picture. (And I haven't even watched enough GoT to get to the episodes she's in.)

Yes, I think Brienne was on my mind, if only subconsciously!

Some really good characters. Muscular characters always make me wish there was a way to dial in a muscular morph on a limb-by-limb basis versus globally, since not every muscle is always flexed. The only way I would know how to do such a thing would be selectively with deformers.

Thanks! Flexing muscles is one area where Genesis 8 can definitely improve. In about half the cases with muscular characters I have to reshape the biceps and triceps, sometimes neck and thigh, in photoshop.

I picked up Ai by Mousso a while ago when she was on sale. She's my first purchased character that isn't stylized. She's gorgeous of course and very well made. But I get the feeling that the more photorealistic the character, the bigger the danger of ending up in the uncanny valley. I don't know yet whether I want to go down that road.

Also trying out the lights that came with Bandit Outfit for G2M while I'm at it.

Today in 'I sometimes just don't get DAZ': The above render was interrupted at 5%. Yes, I did a few spot renders - but not that many! - and yes, you can find fireflies if you look for them. But overall it's pretty good for a 5% render, no? No idea how the 100% version would look like...

Fitting complicated M4 clothes to G8 is always a hassle, but I'm quite happy with how this turned out. Telling a proper story with this character will require some lateral thinking and tricky posing though, since the poor dude can't move his head at all without clipping through his armour and his arm movements are severely limited as well.

I always liked the promos for Azumi for Aiko 5 ever since I got her when she was a bi-weekly freebie a while back. Here's my first attempt to bring her to G8. Two problems: it's a Genesis to Genesis 8 transfer; and also, I don't own Aiko 5. Azumi without Aiko 5 looks atrocious, she clearly uses a lot of that morph.

I do own Aiko 7 and Aiko 8 though. So I made the above character using the transferred Azumi morph, Aiko 7, Aiko 8, and a whole buncha dials. I'm quite happy with her as she is, but I'm open to feedback on how I can make her look more like Azumi from the promos.

What you (hopefully) can't see in this render is that the transfer actually didn't entirely work. Her eyes and her thumbs now pose weird. I don't actually know much about the transfer process, I just follow Sickleyield's steps as good as I can; so I'll have to do some more trial and error to get it right. Would be a shame if it didn't work out after coming this far.

Good news: solved the issue with the thumb.

Bad news: Not only could I not solve the issue with the eyes, I also realised that all my morph transfers so far have the same issue. I just hadn't noticed it until now. Will look into solutions another time. Feeling a little bummed out about it right now. crying Perhaps I should just invest in a Riversoft or Zevo conversion product after all...
