Being technically you are right. But When they have for example gift card discounts when over X amount, getting exactly X and not over it still triggers the discount.
In the case punches, GC seems to not count(sadly). Fortunatelly it does for the calendar, i did the same as hylas and got freebie today. Let's see how many days it last.

Yes, the $2.99 we have had for several days now will be a new item, the advent calendar will be an old item(s) and whether you get a free option or not will depend on whether you have made a "recent" purchase.
I've had that outfit since V4 was The Latest & Greatest Daz Core Figure. I used it a lot, especially the split skirt. Incidentally, I've been mulling using it again, since I have the Riversoft/Sickleyield Gen4 to G3 converter, so I can use it with at least G3/8/8.1.
Yes, ice maiden. One of the projects I have in mind for it is an updated version of a cold wielding superheroine character of mine.

miladyderyni_173d399f47 The outfit has only the blue texture included, and it's a very simple texture. Weird that promo pics for the dress show black and red versions and the blue is darker. There are color zones in the components (cloth and buttons are separate, some components have nore than one cloth zone), and color is easily manipulated through the surface panel. One could apply shaders, apply iray shaders, etc. Maybe old, still a useful outfit. Anyway, I like old V4 stuff.

Somebody over in the reporting thread got a $2 GC to test the theory, and it did the same thing. No punch, but unlocked the daily advent calendar freebie.
So far, I'm keeping my three punches, but only because there'd been cheap ($1-3) items to buy that appealed to me. Seeing as there seems to be nothing else to use them on (today's offer of horror items isn't really that appealing when most of them start at full price and you have to buy a new release), I don't expect spending a lot of money during the sale. On the plus side, making small purchases gives the free option in the advent calendar, and I usually get things I like (can't justify to get them, but they sit in my wishlist).
I guess I'm slightly positive about the month, though not excited enough (yet?) to make my carts bigger than those $1-3.
I just hope that at some point there will be some extremely appealing (to me, of course; others might have already seen some like that) new release combined with some featured artists I want, so that I can use my coupons. Last month, I only managed to use the DO one on the last day, and the D+ one went to waste.
I've been staying alive in the punch game with small daily purchases, and so far, all of my advent offers are entirely from my wishlist. I still have several days until the first of a big chunk of tokens dies, and I have confidence - hope at least - that things will click with new stuff + sale particulars that are motivating for me before then.
I now got the free option on the advent calendar on the 2nd day after buying a $1 gift card, and nothing else. Which is nice, let's see how long it lasts!
However the free option I got today is not from my wishlist, even though it's filled with DAZ originals at various price points, including G8, G3, and even a G2 item.
Yesterdays free option was my only wishlist item from the Gen 4 era. My previous free option was a Genesis item. Are all the free items that old?

In the $2.99 selection, I already had a couple of textures pack for Genesis 9 products, and I think a product for Daz Horse 3 (the elven saddle). All were in my wishlist.

I've been delighted with my selection so far. Out of those, I opted for HD G8F characters, one from Alfan and the second from CB, and a princess dress. Less enthused by the princess dress, although it was on my wishlist and was the free option, so I can't complain.
Today I have a lovely G8.1M sneakers pack or some Viking helmets. I'm hoping for some G8/8.1 men at some point and have stuffed my wishlist full of them in anticipation.
I wonder if the items that can end up on calendar are based on amount of spend too. They definitely track that sort of thing based on some of the historical, targeted banners they've put out. Or membership levels?

This is much better for me so far than last year when I got a lot of really old stuff and male stuff I didn't need. Several years ago they used to offer a lot of freebies with pro bundles so I may have thrown a lot of stuff in my wishlist just in case I was in a hurry and needed to pick free stuff from certain categories but now I'm no longer interested in those things and should try to track them down and remove them from my wishlist. Although since FilaToon came out I don't really mind old stuff because they can look great FilaTooned!
Gift horse/mouth I guess, but not feeling amazing about getting random items from the Gen4 era while other people seem to be getting G8 items from their wishlist

I got https://www.daz3d.com/wash-down and https://www.daz3d.com/the-guardian-outfit-nebula-textures (i own it). Both i kept in my wishlist because i figured i had to keep some 'cheaper' stuff to have less chance of getting textures for things i don't even own.
Do you have any DAZ Originals with a base price less than $25 and over a year old in your wishlist?
So that's the criteria for getting WL items to show up in calendar offers?
It's not official critera, but comparing what people are getting—yes, it seems to be DO with base price under $25 (think I saw one under $35 for $2.99 items, but don't quote me on that). Again, this is not an official statement, just forum members comparing and sleughting, so there's no guarantee, but there seems to be a good chance that if you have such items on your list, they might show up in your calendar.
That's the empirical criteria deduced from forum members observations and experimentations. They might not be the actual ones used by Daz.

i'm not wasting my time adding DO stuff to WL in hopes of something besides Genesis or G2 items coming up free. today i have a LIE makeup for G3. and Nala for G3 @ $2.99. I'm into the ocncept of free is free. If I vcan use it, great, if not, it was free so doesn;t matter.
As far as the rest of the "sale" , Being now a base member, the discounting is not worth a buy. Even at 50% off most of the products are way beyond what I'm willing to pay for them. I have no coupons, no tokens, no punches, nothing, so the pricing is just too high. I might have to rejoin next year or something, but at these prices I'm not a customer anymore.
I know how you feel; I experienced base membership for three days and it was pretty bleak. Maybe in the new year you'll be able to time a membership to coincide with a big sale.
I got the Great Wall which I added to my WL yesterday for 2.99 in my advent calender today and it has a base price of $35
so I dare say DAZ has their own criteria

My records indicate Nala was a freebie in Feb 2023. That's when I got her. I feel your pain. It's always a good time to go do some rendering. As I'm not buying anything now, I am only getting $2.99 offers. LDs have been disappointing, offering miserly 72% off the last few days. It's decidedly not a Daz holiday season for me.
So far i've taken the free on each day.
The $2.99 items have all been cheaper this year and i've not got them then, so hardly worth it for more

I've got the freebies each day except yesterday, when I picked the $2.99 offer for a small bundle originally priced $32.99. I don't think I've been offered anything that wasn't already in my gigantic (over 2,300 items) wishlist.
I've gotten advent offers for freebies every day as well as the $2.99 option. Everything so far has been from my wish list, and a couple of times it's been difficult to choose between the freebie and the $2.99 offer. I have gone with the freebie every day so I could make a small purchase for something else I liked to keep the punches going (usually the Daily Holidaz Deal). The freebies so far have been X-Fashion Sexy Sweet Lingerie for Genesis 8 Females, X-Fashion Sexy Deep V Bodysuit for Genesis 8.1 Females, and Tennessee for Genesis 8 Male. I know ... mostly skimp-wear ...
. But one was a male character!! He will make a great valin character, and was on my whish list for quite a while. I haven't decided on today's yet, there is Cyberpunk Core for free and Eldrilion Weapons Collection for $2.99.
I'm not a big participant in most DAZ sales. I do like this sale (and last years holiday sale), and try to keep the punches going, and get the advent freebies (Christmas present). The extra incentive this year is I traded the last month and 9 days of DAZ+ for 1 month of premium. The extra discounts have been really nice.
Speaking of nice, Phx Kai HD for Genesis 9 Feminine is a really impressive and complete product. I've never purchased anything from Phoenix1966, but this one has my serious attention. She went on the wishlist while looking at the promos, and after reading the description and the looking at "What's Included and Features" I'm very seriously thinking about getting her today. I wish more vendors provided this level of detail!
Oh, I almost forgot to thank DAZ for the holiday sale. I know many here seem to not like it, but for me it gives something simple and different to look forward to everyday.
Got the free option for the 3rd day after my last purchase (yay!). Today my free option is from my wishlist (albeit another gen 4 item), and this time my 2.99 option is not from my wishlist. I guess there's just more randomness involved in this years advent calendar? If you're only getting wishlist items, count yourself lucky, because it's definitely not the case for me.
