    @Bunyip02: Thank you. Your two images look very good. In your picture with the galleon, I wondered whether you had smoothed the ship with the Edit Mesh function before rendering. This process can sometimes change the amount of shadow, for example on the sails. I am asking because I think the sails on the right side (Unfortunately, I don't know the nautical term for this :-) are a bit dark. Or you could add a bit of transparency for the sails. Just my two pence. wink

    @Horo: Thank you. Excellent landscape with a convincing city. Something which is really hard to achive within Bryce. Well done.

    Mermaid - Wonderful scene !

    Electro-Elvis - Thanks ! I did not do anything extra to the galleon, I did adjust the sun position, intensity, & shadows. Will consider the transperancy trick in future renders. Am still learning Bryce so any tips, hints, feedback is welcome !

    The terrain was self made and given a material from High Resolution Terrains 3. The water is the ground plane with a material from High Resolution Terrains 4. The clouds are from the CloudSphere11 from the Sky Toolbox Expansion 1 like the belonging SkySC11 HDRI, the key light is by the sun.

    I used the Simplon Hdri as a backdrop, and the Shadow Capture Disk from Hyper Textures Expansion, the columns, birds and flowers are freebies.

    mermaid - lovely peaceful scene with the birds and flowers.

    The object with the material is from Bryce Pro Material Showcase 2. It is within a reflecting one-way cube (two cubes exactly at the same position grouped, one positive and the other negative), see Bryce Mentoring- Videos, Scenes and Resources. Light by the Filligree2 HDRI (unpublished). Rendered with Maximum Ray Depth 20. An object within a one-sided mirroring cube.

    Here is a demonstration what result you get with the setup used above. It is the same scene as above, camera position changed, HDRI shown as backdrop, rendered only with max ray depth 8, not 20 (image top left).

    Remember that the cubes (or cylinder if you wish) are exact copies: size, position, material Reflection 100, one Positive and one Negative and Grouped. Put an object within that group with a material of your likeing. The camera is outside that group.

    Without the negative cube, you get what you would expect, just reflection on the outer surface of the cube (lower left). Without the negative or both cubes, you see just the object within, this setup makes the cube disappear completely (right).

    This is not my idea, but David Brinnen came up with this idea 13 years ago and commented it in the Bryce Mentoring DVD.

    Greetings to all and congratulations for the renders shown, I love the variety of styles and effort that colleagues put into their work.

    In March my father passed away from a brain tumor that was discovered in December, so I've been preoccupied with other things before Bryce (or 3D in general). But I haven't forgotten it and I'm slowly getting back into the hobby (I also have VUE on hold). I started writing a novel to get back into my literary life (I write science fiction in my spare time). And now I've been playing with Bryce again and done a couple of things.

    This is an island in an alien sea:

    Teobaldo - Condolences on your loss, I also lost my father to cancer in 2000, started out as lung cancer (he was a heavy smoker) that then metastasized into a brain tumour. Lovely render, hope to see more of your work !

    The table was self made, the pot and the bush are from Vegetation. The yellow flowers are from Lisa Botanicals (once available at Daz 3D) and the red flower from Xfrog. The table stands on a Fading Disk. Background and light by the DecoClub HDRI (a spherical HDRI panorama created from a Bryce5 source file David Brinnen made in 2011), no other light source.

    The terrains and material from the Tileable HR Terrains; the sky from Hdri Captured Volumetric Skies, I love the skies in this set.

    The terrain was self made and given a modified material from High Resolution Terrains 4. The aircraft is AH-9100 DAZ Productions 2005. The ringed planet is self made. Sky and ambient light by the DS-Sky03 HDRI from Deep Space HDRI 2 and the key light by the sun.

    Wow beautiful render Horo, I like the scribbling-sort of, in the foreground, very nice.

    I tried to replicate the image attached, the sky was the most difficult to get right. For the 1st image I started from scratch, doodling in the sky lab, it was fun playing with the various controls. The 2nd image was easier I used a sky from the Grand Mountains.

    It is always difficult to replicate a picture. You did a good job, both look great with different light and mood.
