The terrain is from Gritstone Hills with a material from the same set and High Resolution Terrains 1. The castle is a part of the Grobburg (once availabe at Daz 3D) and the sky and ambient light by an HDRI from Sunless HDRI Skies and the key light by the sun. A narrow valley with a castle in hazy weather and low clouds.
A beautiful landscape Horo, nice atmosphere.
Thank you mermaid.
Wonderful landscape, Horo.
The light military vehicle, the lady and her clothing are all from DAZ. I retextured the vehicle towards procedural Bryce textures and deleted unvisible parts from both the vehicle and the military lady. That allowed saving the scene. The sky is one by Horo without HDRI, but I used the HDRI from the sky in the render anyway. One terrain is 'Bluff' from David B and Horo and the foreground terrain is simple rounded dunes made by me, because a flat plane did not look well. The stones are all instances of the same stone. Terrains and stones have the same texture.
Too many images to comment individually. Fantastic everyone. Thanks for the freebie.
Hansmar, Horo, mermaid010, Bunyip02, NGartplay: Thank you and a special thank to Bunyip02 for his freebie
Hansmar: Nicely done and well retextured. I was a bit surprised, that you had to delete hidden parts of the vehicle and of the lady in order to save your picture. Maybe you explained it in a earlier post and I missed it. Anyway, I think usually you should not run into trouble with this constellation with one DAZ3D vehicle and one character. I have the "Army Hybrid Vehicle" as well and I tried to reconstruct your scene. I used the original textures of the vehicle and I hate to say it but I could save my scene without any problems. Task Manager says Bryce is using 1993 MB main storage. The scene itself takes up 314 MB of disk space. The vehicle object file is 47 MB in size. The G3 character 100 MB in size. I wish I could explain, why you run into trouble saving this scene, but I'm afraid I cannot.
Horo: Great images. I like very much your joy of experimentation.
mermaid010: The well is nicely presented. (I suppose it is needed quite urgently, it looks pretty dry there.)
I'm away for a few weeks and there are already dozens of new renders, too many to comment on one by one. Anyway, congratulations to all my colleagues for keeping Bryce alive, especially Horo.
Well, I'm showing the last one I made, titled Strange Waters:
I hope you like it.
I was hoping to use this or a similar render as the cover for a book of short stories of mine coming out in August, but the publisher is very keen on AI. Apparently I'll have to wait until I'm editing a book myself to make a cover to my liking.
Hansmar- lovely scene, very nice textures and lighting.
Thanks NGartplay and Electro-Elvis.
Teobaldo - very nicely done Strange Waters. IMHO AI is killing creativity, our grey cells will die faster, "use it or lose it". Thanks for the comment.
Hansmar - well done scene with the military vehicle and the lady. Question: have you set your Bryce to large address aware (LAA) so it can handle scenes up to about 3.2 GB if your computer has at least 4 GB memory?
NGartplay - thank you.
Electro-Elvis - thank you.
Teobaldo - thank you. Your Strange Waters looks like some sort of building in the water of a far away world. Nice and well done render.
The terrain was self made and given a material according to the Specular Method (see https://horo.ch/docs/mine/pdf/DrawingEffects.pdf). Specular (light) and colour by the an HDRI, the sun with negative Specular enhances the contrast. A coloured drawing of a mountainscape.
The same scene as an anaglyph.
Here in strong colours, just rotated the HDRI Roll by 210 degrees.
Electro-Elvis, Horo, Thanks for the help with the large memory issue. I was convinced I had used LAA, but apparently not! Probably some of my memory issues come from the fact that I never installed and used in om my new (couple of years already) computer. Stupid! I am going to try with original textures and see what happens. My scene was 229 MB in the end (more before retexturing, etc.).
Teobaldo, strange waters indeed, but very interesting.
Horo, That is a weird landscape render. I like the terrain texture.
Hi, I tested out whether I could indeed use the army vehicle and a clothed G3 lady with some terrain without issues in Bryce, after enabling LAA. And, of course, it works. I feel like a complete fool now, for not realising earlier that I worked without LAA and had not realised it! Now, my scene is more than 425 MB and it works and saves. I only had to retexture the glass and also of the glass of the lights in the vehicle to make it transparent I will make the new render later, once I have heard how to not do anti-aliassing for one of the terrains. See my separate render with a question on that issue, which I have also forgotten.
Horo - Tori & torus looks fantastic ! Gritstone Hills is wonderful ! Specular Method terrain is groovy !
Hansmar - Light military vehicle is fabulous !
NGartplay - Thanks !
Teobaldo - Landscape is awesome !
Thank you Hansmar and Bunyip02.
Horo - very nice examples of Specular Method Drawing Effect, the anaglyph is awesome.
Thank you mermaid.
I played around with a car model of a Toyota Coralla, which is not my prefered car, I have to admit, but the model in my opinion is just excellent. I'm afraid, I don't know where I got it :-( The geese are from a free model vom cgtrader created by s-akkush. My aim was to achieve some realism. Light comes from the Bryce sun. Rendered with IBL and TA. Render time around 6 hours. I rendered it at least three times because I was not satisfied with the ground.
Wow Electro-Elvis - beautiful render, the lighting is very nice..
Thank you mermaid010
Electro-Elvis - very nicely done render.
Double stacked Terrain from Grand Mountains with materials from High Resolution Terrains 1. The water is a self made terrain with a material from High Resolution Terrains 4. Sky and ambient light by an HDRI from HDRI Enhanced Skies and the key light by the sun.
Another amazing landscape Horo, it's beautiful
Hello all. Would like to congratulate you with 2025 year, and to say that I'm glad to see you still post beautiful pictures here. Lately I often don't have much lifeforce in me to comment or participate much due to being overwhelmed with job (I've got a new one recently so it's still a challenge for me) and health (currently going through fixing my teeth after several years without maintenance), but I always try to read topics like this and check stuff you post when I can. Perhaps I'm a bit like a ghost, or spirit. I don't know.
Now, about certain project I've communicated about with many of you before. I need to apologize about not getting work done in time frame I initially thought about, looks like I was too optimistic with estimations. Also it's first experience like that for me, so it's a bit more difficult than I expected, so it goes more slowly then it could. That being said, don't worry, process still goes on (even though we kinda missed the so called anniversary already) and will be done. Just please have patience and believe in me a bit more. If I sound cryptic for most of you, sorry - those who know, they know; and those who doesn't, you might p.m. me about it - but to say it shortly, we're working on a small community project dedicated to Bryce that was initiated by passing the 30 years mark of its existence.
Best wish to you all, and happy brycing!
Best wishes to you for 2025 Past as Future. Good luck in your new job. Thanks for the update on the project.
mermaid - thank you - very nicely.
Past as Future - thank you. Best wishes to you, too. No need to apologise, a hobby is not work and can to be done whenever there is enough time and fun to do it.
The camera with the GWL (gigantic wide angle fisheye lens) from Lenses and Filters is in the world centre, around it three spheres in different sizes, partly transparent and reflecting. Light and colour by an HDRI from Hyper Textures Base in the world centre. Whatever you see in it.
