    I think the gender can not be revealed until a party is formed.  surprise  In my estimation, the DAZ search philosophy is to be as inclusive as possible. It certainly seems that way when using selective terms in the DAZ forum search box.

    Mac Users: Are the current Mac models gonna be good for DS5 or should we wait for the new ones to come out?

    I honestly don't know the answer to this. But, as a Mac user, I'm being cautious right now about buying things. I am planning to get a new Mac with the M1 or M2 chips, as soon as a real desktop model comes out, maybe an iMacPro, or a Mac Pro. (Right now, I'm got a 2013 Mac Pro.) But, assuming DS 5 will run on this new machine, just how will these current models (characters), props, settings, clothing items, etc., perform? Will iRay running in CPU be faster than it is now for Mac users? Will Filament work for us, and how good will that be? Will there be other render engines?

    Please post which Mac you decide to get. I've followed your posts here & on the Mac forum. I too am on a 2013 Mac. Stll running Yosemite. This can't happen soon enuf for me!

    ...I'm fine with my custom set-up.,  I don't mind working with directory (folder) tree structures, have used them for years. I don't have to depend on an automated  database that can become corrupted (and it has).  I also don't care for files ending up in the C:/documents folder (which Connect and Central default to for storing certain data) because I use a small boot drive just for the "necessities".  I also have a fair amount of content from other stores as well as a large collection of  freebies, neither of which have metadata associated with them.  Easier to just put them where they need to go at install rather than try to create metadata for them.

    A content manager designed to manage thousands of products with a tag system.

    Shop or Daz Studio , it's very difficult to get all the products for a specific theme. 

    For example Cyberpunk theme isn't Star Wars or Mad Max themes, Sci-fi genre is too large.

    There is no "pain" in organizing the folders, but as we can read here in the forums everyday, the DAZ Connect style is a constant source of anxiety and problems

    Without going into what clearly has been the idea behind the non-traditional folder structure, there are problems like;

    - Overall length of the path. The 256 character limit was just recently removed (if it was) and with the default folders plus the "Cloud" folder, 256 characters is easily exceeded.
    - No way to separate textures to a dedicated, separate drive as they would not have their own root folder
    - Every product would store all the textures separately, even if the creator had the opportunity to re-use textures on several products
    - No way to find anything inside DS without using "smart" content, which we all know to be failing every now and then
    - Trying to find any products with Windows Explorer would require knowing the SKU for the product
    - Non-DAZ products do not have SKU's, therefore not being able to use the same logic.

    Now I know where I went wrong with the kids... It was so simple after all! I really need to go & sharpen the cleaver...

    Must admit I prefer organising my stuff myself. I know what content categories are appropriate for me & my rendering. I wouldn't like anyone to try & impose anything beyond what we have already on top of that. As for 'vanity' directories. Yeah, well, I wasn't keen on it when creating my freebies, but how am I (as a purveyor of freebies) to know where you (as a recipient of freebies) want to put them? The best I can do is put them in one place so you know where to look for them should you either want to move them or use them. I get niggled (unreasonably) with some freebie creators who forget the last directory they used & create another with their next freebie, but it's easy enough to fix.

    If you went frame by frame on any movie or TV show you watch, you'll notice that a bunch of the frames aren't crisp and clear, there's a blur to them because they subject is moving and that really gives a sense of realism because your eye also does the same thing. So when there's no motion blur to an animated sequence, it already has a feeling of being off because it's unnatural. Personally, I just run it through pixel motion blur in After Effects right now, but having the option to do it in Daz like Blender has would be awesome.

    @3Don:  Of course, be happy to do it, although there are far more knowledgable Mac users on the DAZ site in the forums. I'm proabably not going to get a new Mac until I see a Macintosh Pro or at least an iMac Pro with the new chips, running Big Sur, and able to run DS. For my present 2013 Mac Pro, I'm running Catalina (10.15.7) and using DAZ Studio 4.15.0.2. Would that not work for you? If you want to use dForce, maybe not. But otherwise, it works for me.

    I got my new Mac last year before the M1 chip came out (on purpose). Works well enough and I am staying away from Big Sur since there is no need to update.

     I don’t see any sense in the analogy, as I’m talking about a refinement that obviously the same DAZ people thought was ideal to be able to do updates without destroying other products that could share the use of the same file.  So it is not a question of proposing a crude, dramatic, unthinking, untested solution.

    Yes, connect is reason for complaints, I complain about connect and that’s why I eradicated it from my use, what I would like from connect is not all connect just the paradigm of separated folders by product. The users could choose how they organize their work, and most importantly, make back-off of their changes and metadata that retains tags and custom folders. So they could choose which content to remove and which to place according to their needs. In fact I am testing an imitation of that paradigm with very good results, automating the production of metadata, but at some point I will have to join several of those folders and I will hate that moment.

    Yes, it is a pain to organize when there are products without metadata in a poser structure with folders that have the name of the artist in, let’s say, hair folder and then another different name in pose folder, and you have already installed 20 equally messy products with tons of !!!! or ___ ahead to gain the user’s attention, and then they are no longer 20 but 100 or 200, and so you never find the materials of that hair again or you must remember where it was put, and if you have two products of materials from different artists, you have to remember what they are and then you have to do it for 50 different hairs.

    Yes, but Poser content folders are Poser content folders, DAZ has no say in how they are organized.

    I stopped using Daz Studio and have been doing my stills in Blender. I used to love Daz but it became too bloated and gets stuck doing simple things. I have a fairly strong system with plenty of everything and Daz Studio still is stalling on simple stuff so I tried optimizing my content and when I got tired of trying to fix things. I stopped and asked myself why am I struggling with this? Consequently, I just moved on to Blender. Daz is trying to do too much. It used to be a great 2D still render software but it got too complicated and new feature are not always a good thing.  I believe that stability and smooth running software is better in my opinion. I don't want new features, if something is slowing down Daz Studio take it out or disable it. Just my 2 cents

    Maybe we are at the end of what a consumer market can get. I don't see a lot of progress anymore.
    Is there any technology expected for DAZ Studio, that will make joint bendings even more realistic? Off and on you see some companies creating amazing tech demos of new rigging methodes, but none of those make it into the markets, especially not into DS. I've seen videos, where an AI learned how fat and muscles move over a human scelleton in motion. None of this will most likeley ever make it into DS.
    Poser 12 upgrade is a full cycles support, DAZ Studio 5 upgrade is Mac support.
    Let's face it: We hobbyists are stuck.

    Yeah, I think they still work up through 4.12 but after that they're gone. With keymate, you could click and drag an entire keyframe for all the limbs at once anywhere you wanted, now you have to go in and manually click and drag the twist, side by side, and bend keys separately for each limb to be able to do that which is not feasible for someone trying to animate. And yeah, before copy and pasting was easy and great, and now it is not working. Stick with the version you're using if you want to use those plug-ins still.

    I'd love to beta test the Apple Silicon version. I have an M1 MBP and I'll be getting the new 16 inch MBP, maxed out, whenever Apple launches it.
