Nice Thanks, Wendy!
thank you caspers friends :D
Thank so much for this amazing Kilt!!
Not my best render, but I was just trying out the updated kilt:
(The character is a mix: Luca body and Ryker skin, head is 60% Luca and 40% Ryker. Shirt is an old Genesis item, converted to fit G8, and the hair is Nikan Hir for G8M)
Thanks for the render dragonfly. Nice to see what people do with my clothing.
Thanks a bunch, Wendy! It's hard fo find a good 3D kilt!
Very nice, Wendy!
Here to report a (very minor) bug: the Runtime/Textures/AllenArt/AA Megapack Shaders folder is misspelled ("Megapak"), so DAZ can't find the texture for the pin.
Thanks again for the awesome kilt! There are 700 freebie skirts out there, but this is the first decent kilt I know of!

Small error in spelling one of the texture folders. Now corrected. Sorry about that.
May I ask: would this style be worn with a sporran?
Yes it probably would. Tried making one but didn’t have much success.
You could always just use the metals supplied with the Iray Uber shader as well and it wouldn't make much difference ;). Just an option.

^ oh, it was easy to manulally find and rename the folder. I was just reporting this very minor bug for the sake of thoroughness more than anything else. Maybe it'd trip up someone who's very new to this.
I am, even as I type this, wearing a felie-beg (which is the name for this specific style of kilt) and wear kilts by preference whenever I can. I only wear sporrans when I'm dressed in "weddings-and-funerals" formal. I find them uncomfortable - they whack me in the ghoolies when I walk - so I normally just carry a "man purse."
My best friend, on the other hand, has a custom-made sporran that holds his phone and wallet and wears it even when he's wearing modern, non-traditional kilt.
So it depends on your mood. A sporan is basically an 18th century fanny pack worn right in front to reduce Marilyn-Monroeing whenever there's a breeze. Felie-begs are more prone to this than modern kilts. Also, they don't have pockets, so you need somewhere to carry your stuff, and the sporran is the traditonal way to do that.
WOW Vagabond... Never knew all this... Great bits of information.... Thanks for sharing :)
Was looking for this thread to see what Wendy has been upto recently, so I'm a little late to this conversation.
Correct spelling is "feilidh-beag" (little wrap), the Anglicized "spelling" is "phillabeg", which leaves me wondering which version you butchered to get "felie-beg".
TBH the item in that render looks more like a tartan skirt, sure doesn't look like there's 12 feet (3.66 meters) of heavy wool cloth wrapped around the figures waist.
Could be the pleats. An actual kilt (I've got one) has fairly deep pleats all around the back to bulk it out some. I've seen some well done pleated skirts, both in the store here and as freebies, but I'm not sure if D|S could handle authentically deep pleats and avoid the great-granny of all pokethroughs.
Now to search out all the other bits of a "proper" outfit — thick turned-down socks, ribbons and a sgian dubh, Prince Charlie jacket, and maybe a wee tartan toorie...
It has pleats in the back but none in the front, and a slit that goes all the way up in the front left. So it has at least some of the elements that makes it a kilt rather than a generic skirt, at least in this layman's mind.
It has pleats at the back and the front wraps over another part of the kilt. I found info on how to make a kilt in real life and tried to follow that as best as I could.
I may be a bit late in loading a new item as I am very busy at the moment. Sorry for that.
Ah, in that case it's a twist on the modern kilt rather than a feilidh-beag.
The modern kilt was created originally for the Scottish regiments, saved the English from having to hand out nine yards of tartan cloth to every soldier so they could make thier own, there is also a lot less material in it even with all the pleats sown into it.
The feilidh-beag has no pleats, it's just a "blanket" of heavy wool cloth that is four yards long and between 25 to 30 inches wide,

Thanks again, Wendy!
Thanks again Wendy!!
Oooh, very nice indeed! Thank you
Sorry but I have been so busy and now Christmas is almost here, I just haven't had time to prepare anything.
No worries Wendy, we understand how it is!
Take you time and rest and relax!
Best wishes for you and your family this Christmas, Wendy!
