(Released!) Food Shaders [Commercial]
Hey all you beautiful people! Here comes a collection of food shaders. Why? I honestly don't know. Someone (I forgot who) suggested I make these, and I just sort of went with it, because I'm going crazy under quarantine. But hey, maybe you're bored with iron, and you want your character to have armor made of ice cream? Zombies made of bacon or raw hamburger? Maybe you envision a batter dipped and fried dragon soaring over fields of spaghetti and meatballs? A woman with ice cream skin? A robot made of chocolate cake? Strawberry lips?
These are all 4k textures, photographed by me, from actual food that I then eat guiltily while standing over the kitchen sink. They all come with displacement maps too, in case you need to crank up the geometry. Here's a few in-progress samples, that I have applied to poor Bulwarg:
1. Batter Fried Bulwarg (goes great with Ranch dressing):
2. Chocolate Chip Cookie Bulwarg:
3. Raw Hamburger Bulwarg:
4. Raw Meat Bulwarg:
5. Salmon Sashimi Bulwarg (pass the soy sauce!):
6. Raw Sliced Bacon Bulwarg (crispy bacon will also be a thing):
7. Stroopwafel Bulwarg:
Many more on the way, including fruits and veggies, so your shader diet is nicely balanced. If there's any foods you'd really like to see included, just add them in the comments.
Bom Appetite!
ETA: No Bulwargs were harmed in the making of these shaders, except--of course--batter fried Bulwarg, because there is just no coming back from that.

Cool idea, and they look pretty great.
Thank you! They're a work in progress, but coming along nicely.

I was searching for a good orange (the fruit) shader just a couple days ago. I was turning apple trees into orange trees.
Let me guess; Iray only? *sigh*.
I already love this - this is fantastic! What a weird and brilliant product!
I only know the PBR workflow, sorry.
Well, you'll be glad to know that citrus fruits will be covered.
Yay! Someone likes them!
Chocolate? Chocolate cake powder mix, cake mix, baked cake, chocolate frosting, candy bar textures?
Eggs? Out of the shell, scrambled, mixed with cream?
Cheeses? Swiss, Romano, Cheddar, Blue Cheese, Processed (American sliced or Velveta color)?
Nuts? Cashews, Almonds, Walnuts, Hazelnuts?
Tea leaves or coffee bean colors?
Bread textures? Boring sandwich white or whole wheat or rye, crusty French or peasant bread, sourdough, tortillas (corn and flour), non toasted and toasted or grilled?
I edged into props but the textures so we can color what we create or to fix older products would be lovely.
Thanks @Those_Things

Interesting character choice to show it off, hahahaha.
But looking really nice! That salmon looks delectable.
Ok, I'll bite (pardon the pun)
You had me at bacon, But now we can make a meat dress!
!!!!
eh mmm uh
excuse me
I seem to have a frog in my throat
So I no longer need to buy food!? Great.
Strawberry Bulwarg. This is just normal map, no displacement. His eyes look like little strawberries, and it got me thinking that this sort of shader would be fun for accesories like jewelry or shoes.
So we've got "Make Me Teen", "Make Me Merry" and "Make Me Punk", and this is gonna be "Make Me Edible"?
I didn't even know those products existed until just now. Wow, there are whole sections of the catalog I've never even seen.
Any cuisses de grenoilles?
The 1957 Raw Hamburger edition Carvello cruiser. Got great gas mileage, but attracted lots of flies.

Just need to pan the camera down...
that reminds me of the awful laminex era
and my father seemed to like sticking garish patterned laminex on every piece of furniture we owned
They are not alone. I haven't seen anyone make this type of shader. Insta-buy for me.
Ung stroopwaffle. Yes please. Am hungry.
These are awesome! Request oatmeal and stew.
Great idea, and I love your use of bulwarg to demo it.
