This set might be useful to those doing underwater renders. It include some lights that emulate water at different depths and has some nice swimming poses as well as backdrops http://www.daz3d.com/under-the-sea
Ok i set intensity to 40% and leaving it all at default this is the only result i get.

It looks like there is no transparency map applied to the eyelashes, and the distant light is not rotated to point to the figure. See if what I sent you on the PM works. I've got to run out for an hour, but I'll check back when I'm home.
I just did some checking, and it looks like the version of WaterCam Simple that shipped has a bug that affects transparency. The other cameras should be fine. Could you please try Watercam Volumetric 0000m with a figure? You'll probably need to tilt the head back a bit to see the face, and in this picture, I've also adjusted the camera Volume->Quality setting up to 60, which slows things down somewhat, but works better for faces.
You can certainly turn the intensity of the lights up, too, or angle them. I usually adjust the angle of the single light in my presets to be slightly from the front of the scene.
Edited because it would help if I add the picture....
Actually, the main setting you want to adjust is Shadow Samples in the light. Go to the Scene tab, click Ripple Gel Light (whichever one loaded in your scene), click "Shadows" in the Parameters tab, and increase Shadow Samples to 64. That should help a lot.
Edited to attach image... it will render more slowly. I sort of like the grainy look for some underwater renders, especially in cloudy water, but I did crank up the quality settings for some of my promos.
Yea! I see the second day of the Undersea Theme is in the store.
Uh... Let there be light? ;)
Cheers,
Cliff
DestinysGarden & zigraphix Thank you both for help and tips...I followed those tips zigraphix and still didnt come out like ones you just posted lol but ill keep messing with it.
I just bought the UnderWater Ambiance Bundle so will try those and read the included pdf file. Hopefully start getting better results!!
Hooray!!!
A quick render using one of the Gel lights from Destiny Gardens DS light set.
The legs are the Ranaka legs autofitted to Genesis.
uhm.. Sickle/Fuseling I have ran into a little bit of a problem, I bought the mermaid for genesis 2 female, and the tail goes on fine on Naida... but when I am about to change the texture of it, I get this message (see screenshot) when I click.
Clicking ok on there do one of two things. It Either crashes my studio, or it apply the color... and there's nothing to say which one it will do. I tried with the same color/texture twice. One time it crashed studio, the other time it applied the texture (after having clicked the OK button on the missing file window)
I kinda doubt it's supposed to do that, so figured it was better to come here
edit - and after trying a couple of mroe times, I put up these screens as well. Have a feeling there might be some things wrongly packed or such...
Can't help with your problem CarolaO but I've got the Genesis tail and it seems fine, it does look as if something is missing.
This is a render using another of Destiny Gardens Gel lights, I'm really having fun with these lights.
I sent a request to the zendesk.. hopefully they can help soon.. I'm admittingly not happy, but mistakes can happen and hopefully it will be fixed soonish. So I can make some mermaids (including the two scenes/serie I have already prepared for )
On another note Scorpio.. what is that tail you using in your picture? It looks really nice
Very nice! Is that a caustic camera, as well? :)

CarolaO the tail is the from this set scaled to fit and parented to Genesis, I used Dformers to help fit it to the torso.

Zigraphix no I used a normal camera and postwork.
This one uses one of the DS light sets from Destiny Gardens UnderWater Ambiance for DAZ Studio.
Hi Zigraphix! Was wondering, I noticed you said the Water Cam Simple had shipped with a bug - will this be fixed in near future? I was thinking of getting this product but am worried it won't work for me either. Thanks! -Cathy
Outstanding pictures scorpio64dragon. I'm impressed as always. Thanks so much for posting them.
I see the issue here and just looked at the path said here, and the original one is different. This is fairly easy to fix. If you drop me a PM I guide you through it. It can be fixed in a matter of minutes at most, that way you don't have to wait unto support gets back to you.
The bug only affects the "Simple" version of the cameras (i.e. the least interesting ones, but first in the list in the Content tab), and yes, it will be fixed shortly. :) I'm also going to add some quality presets so people can do quick renders first and then crank the quality settings up if they want to, and these upgrades will be free for those who have bought it. So buy now while it's cheap! ;)
(Edited to fix quote bracket)
Thank you and your welcome.
This one uses the new tail, it really is a lovely tail with a lot of options and the addon pack extends its versatility so much more.

Thank you! I was asleep when this was going on. Th is is not a typical result with the set as we packaged it.
Zig and Destiny...
Sorry for this but, I have ran into a problem. I am first of all going to say I assume it is me doing something wrong, and secondly I do love the camera and the lights and they work perfect on their own :)
However, for some reason, I can't make them work together. It doesn't matter which of the DG's lights I have or which one of the cameras (tested with simple, cloudy and volume) I have also tried to turn down the ligthing intensity way way low but that didn't do anything either.
Attaching a pictures with three different verisons of hte same render. As it say on it, the ifrst one is only with DG's lights and my own camera, the middle one is with only water camera and one of the lights that came with it, think it was the 10m one, not sure though and the last is with DG's lights and the water camera
And as said, I assume I am doing something wrong, or completly missing something.... *flutters eyelashes* help
Hm... are you loading a camera scene or just the camera? I included preset scenes with WaterCam that include a light and boundary box. You'll probably want to get rid of the light if you're using DG's lights.
Further experiments with WaterCam to check the quality issues some folks have reported...
The first render is WaterCam Scene preset Volume 0010m (10 meters below surface), with all default settings. V5 Tori, shape changed to A4, Calais hair, Hitomi bikini. Render time about a minute.
The second image is exactly the same scene, but I've set the "Quality" of the camera (Parameters pane, click "Volume") to 75, when the default is 30. Render time for the second image was 2 minutes, 30 seconds.
Click the images for full detail.
If you have WaterCam and you're not getting results like these after following these steps, please let me know so I can help troubleshoot. If, on the other hand, you want different results than these, please let me know what you're looking for, so I can help you figure out the best settings. :)
Did you see the folder marker "tutorial" with the user's guide I did? The last paragraph has a screen shot of a couple settings to change on the camera to not make the lights wash out the scene. I posted it elsewhere too. I'll track it down.
Edit: found it. It was this thread, yesterday.

*coughs.. looks properly scolded* hrm... kinda missed that I must admit, and I also have to admit I didn't actually look for a User's guide *blushes* I will check it through and also try the scenes first. If I still has problems I will return to be educated ^^
Oh and here is a render with the Water Camera, one of DG's gel light, my own distant light and Naida :)
Reaching for the Surface
Looking really good Carola.
I'm glad you found the PDF. I can tell we are going to be getting some great pictures from you. Keep it up and shout again if you get stuck.
cheers!
Really nice pictures scorpio64dragon, was just scrolling through and admiring them.
CarolaO nice looking render there, too.
I have to agree as well. Very nice renders folks, keep them coming. :-)
