Thanks CathyM and Carola O. As long as there is not a zombie apocalypse or an earthquake that swallows up the DAZ offices, the rest of the items pictured in this thread will be released tomorrow.
We kind of hoped the lights and cameras would be released on the same day, since they go together (you need caustic cameras to see the effect of caustic lighting) but yes, the lights will appear tomorrow and the cameras will still be on sale.
DestinysGarden and Zigraphix, thanks for your fast replies! Glad to know these 2 (camera and lights) both are needed for the effects to work correctly.
Now I WANT more than enough items to get the 50% price, if only I have enough money to cover them all! Guess I'll find out tomorrow, having to be patient and wait to see will just make me appreciate them all the more :-) -Cathy
It is not so much that both are "required", it is more of a "better together," depending on the look you are going for. Here are some pictures, same scene, same lights, one using DS default camera, one with Zig's volume cam. They are both pretty cool in my humble opinion. ;-)
The DS lights are certainly stand alone, but because DS doesn't have atmospherics built in, you need some sort of a specialized camera to get that cloudy look. Zigraphix's WaterCam is very easy to use, and could also be used with any other lights.
Ohh that's very lovely both of them.
You are all scaring my credit card away - all of you! :) (Edit: but then again ... it is not my credit card really ;) )
This is really incredible ... love the whole theme and I cannot really pick any product to leave out. Plus I can already see quite a few products coming in tomorrow as well. This is going to be expensive, but it is just too good to pass on.
Really, to all PAs participating in this theme - very, very well done. I am seeing amazing work here, just loving it :)
Seems really weird that one of the main products is being held back (the meretails). Takes some of the excitement away for me. Not sure who's brilliant idea that was but ...... Yea. Ho hum!
A question about the camera (not a deal breaker but good to know).. how does it react compared to a normal camera when it ocmes to usage of RAM and also render time? I would assume it takes longer to render, but how about the whole RAM issue? *curious*
Are Orestes Graphics' products ( the plants and invertebrates) rigged for animation?
Initially when we started this project, it wasn't meant to be a part of the PA sale and we had planned for everything to be released at the same time. But the timing worked out that our themed release was absorbed into the PA festivities. Since there were so many products for the theme, we had to divide everything up into two days, but they are back to back. And, as has been mentioned, the products today will be on sale for 36 - 48 hours so there will be overlap with tomorrow's releases and people will be able to get the discounts.
Hope this clarifies things.
No, they are all just props. But I'm sure a magnet could get some nice wave movement.
I'd be very interested to know this too cause honestly I have like the patience of a gnat when waiting on a render....... does that make me a bad renderer???

I don't have any metrics for you but I know that when I was working on the Poser version of Underwater Ambiance I was stunned at how quick the DAZ Studio renders with the camera were at default settings - on a not-very-powerful 2 core PC running Windows Vista 32 bit.
Cheers,
Cliff
I'm a little confused about that myself, but it may have to do with the fact that Fuseling's and my Mermaids comprise something like NINE products (counting the two bundles). I did figure we'd be on a different day from Orestes because he and we both did large multipacks, and those are hard to promote together.
Also, I'd like everyone to know that the upcoming mermaids are not a "SickleYield" product - they're a "SickleYield and Fuseling" product! We'd be nowhere without the MASSIVE amount of gorgeous texture work she did on these. ;)
Thank you Cliff ,means I might have the patience ....looks like it's a purchase ........
Definitely looking forward to the mermaid tails -- and the *Melusine* tails! I don't know that there ever were tails for a Melusine in the stores before (although i suspect there may have been somewhere).
It all looks lovely. And I admit to waiting with a loaded cart for tomorrow's releases before purchase. But that's s.o.p. for PA sale.

They're a little slower than a render with no camera effects, but really not too bad, at least with DG's lights. :) I would not recommend UberEnvironment or other image-based lights (and there is a known incompatibility between UE and volumetric lighting and cameras that causes render artifacts with transparent objects in the scene). Adding more spot or point lights does slow things down, and Area Lights (including BioLight DS) are very slow with a volumetric camera.
First as always SickleYield great job on the Mer-tail..
Second thanks to all of you! for the good work and making bundles for the Geneses and Genesis 2.
Just starting out and spending lots of money already on Genesis makes it hard decision now with G2F and what to buy.
Also my friend FWArt I see your on Daz now, will email you.
Hi i been working with WaterCam DAZ Studio for hours and all renders come out dark and around the eyes where eyelashes are it glows bright blue..
Could creators or anyone post how or what they did to get results like promo pics? also render settings? i just cant seem to figure out why mine come out different...Thanks!!

Well I happily bought 3 of your packs earlier today, and I was wondering if I loaded them up in DS, will they port to Bryce nicely?
I'm not sure if you ever tested that out. I ask because I started an underwater scene back when I was using Bryce 5 which I couldn't finish since moving items over to Bryce to fill up the scene was a hassle. I'm hoping I'll be able to finish the scene now with Bryce 7 and your lovely underwater creations. :-)
Well if I get a chance to play I will let you know, as I too have all of these.
Hi would you mind sharing how you got the results in your images? I have been trying but not getting results nowhere near the ones you gave posted... Thanks!
Orestes, that's a fantastic promo render for your product "Gardens of Poseidon - Reef rocks" http://www.daz3d.com/gardens-of-poseidon-reef-rocks . Just out of curiosity, how did you do the glow effect in the dark areas right around the edge of the bright light? (If it isn't a trade secret or anything). Postwork, a material for the water that scatters light, something else?
One other question, in the product "Gardens of Poseidon - Invertebrates" http://www.daz3d.com/gardens-of-poseidon-invertebrates , are the spines on the sea urchins generated via displacement, or polygons in the model (ie, could the model still be used to some extent with displacement disabled, or is displacement critical to their use)?
Hey mrgraphix, that is really strange. I can't think of anything in the cameras that would cause that. What lights are you using? Do the eyelashes on the character you are using have ambient turned on or something? Do you have a sample render that might help us troubleshoot it? This would have been my 3Delight render settings. I'll double check on what I had the camera set at.
Thank you for reply ill try to get a screen shot but im using Dark Cyreena for Genesis, i tried other like v5 default still same results very daek ans eyelashes glow... i am using just default settings of water cam i tried all scenes, lights, camera even tried lights as a stand alone with same results.

Adding a bit more to the above, the lights in my renders are using the UnderWater Ambiance for DS light set which will be in the group of products released tonight. The lights are ready to go with 3-4 distant lights and a caustic gel light in the right place. This is from my user's guide included with the lights.
"The underwater light sets work very nicely with the WaterCam, but on the default settings for the WaterCam, the light can be very harsh. For a good starting point to get the colors and the cloudy effect, I recommend changing a few parameters on the cameras. Begin by adjusting the volume density to .0050 and the light density to .0010. You can then experiment with all the many WaterCam parameters to make sure you are getting the effect you want. To save time, always do a smaller test render before doing larger, final renders."
Edit: to actually add screen shot of camera settings for a starting point.
Is the forum being really flakey today?

I haven't tried it in Bryce, but I don't see why not. If you got the 'Sets' pack, they are saved as DUF, and should do anything that duf does. I'd be curious to see how they do for you. XD

Its all poly. The displacements make the ridges of the shell stand out, but not critical.
I tried that now the character is super white lol .... maybe just dont work for me i dont know i tried everything and have the most current ds pro 4.6.18.... just frustrating cause i been wating forever to do under water scences.. But if nobody else has issues im just out of luck... thanks again
Don't have the distant lights at full intensity or the whole thing will go white. One of the distant lights can be around 50%, but any other should be closer to 20-30% intensity. Don't give up yet. We'll get you sorted out.
Edit:mrgraphix, I sent you a PM with something for you try if you would for me please.
cheers!
