The only lighting here is from one of Mec4D's amazing Liberty Ferry HDRI (there really is some absolutely amazing stuff available on Daz3D just now! No wonder I'm skint!!! ) and the only things I changed from EcVh0's settings was to replace the Translucency maps with the characters own Diffuse so I could use the make up (By the way thanks so much for the tutorial at the start of this post, it was super helpful and perfectly written) and changed the Transmitted colour as advised.
Sir, I now challenge you with my HDRI only render and no post-work, mwhahahah (jokes, I'm really just testing my new character WIP )
Intentionally pointed the main light of this HDRI to the back right side of her to see how my shader goes with some ridiculous backlighting, thats why her face isn
Oh Wow, that is so nice!
Thank you! The hair doesn't really like this dark enviroment tho XD Haha
I cheated this time and used postwork here because your last one was so good!! LOL
Once again your skin shader has come up trumps and I also the wonderful Catharina a huge debt for how well this turned out because of the HDRI, the beautiful dress that converted perfectly from G3F to G8F and for her tip about Canvasses which made it so much easier to get the tone and lighting exactly how I wanted it on the finished render! You are both stars and anything I do wouldn't be nearly as good without all your hard work and generosity leading my way.
Then I finished it off with a couple of free Photoshop actions that I've managed to find over time and Voilà!

Wow! It looks amazing and she is really gorgeous! Looks like she just got out of a fancy store with her newly bought fancy dress!
I will give you... 10/10! Tho I have to minus 0.01 because you cheated hahahaha!
I'm getting really obsessed with the new shader that I just keep making renders! If it starts to get annoying, let me know and I will doze off somewhere
Same HDRI, this time without the customized map for Katarina but the Pale Skin Shader!
Again, backlight and no postwork is done

You'll hear no complaints from me about your renders, keep them coming! The pale skin shader looks great, looking forward to that coming out!

Aw thanks. A reasonable amount of post work went into it to change the tone and lighting with a few Photoshop actions thrown on top as well. It's people like yourself and EcVh0 who make the products that let us make stuff like this, you guys do the hard stuff so people like me get to do the fun bit!
What your current shader isn't a pale skin shader already? Tee-Hee-Hee........
Woah! This is actually a masterpiece! Doesn't matter if it has a lot of postworks the composition, the lighting, the expression, the background all looks amazing! And of course the shader
What is your light setup in this? Really love it I could possibly add that for my portraits

I gotta say my postwork skill is no where as good as yours! You should totally sell some good photoshop tutorials on those! I never get it right

Wow! That's some compliment! The lights, pose and camera are all from Film Noir Portrait Studio (https://www.daz3d.com/film-noir-portrait-studio) which works really well with your shader. Then the background is one of Dimensional Theories iRadience soft light probes (there are so many though I can't remember which one! LOL).
The real breakthrough I found with postwork was when I started using the EXR file you get from rendering with canvases in Photoshop. There's quite a good tutorial here for them: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/62101/relighting-with-iray-canvases/p1 though it goes into splitting the lights into different canvases and nodes I tend not to do that and just set a beauty canvass to work from. Then you can just play with the image until you get what you want. There are also lots of free Photoshop actions out there that it's worth having a look for too. The only advice I can really give on postwork is be bold! So long as you don't overwrite the original file you're using you can always go back to the beginning so try everything there is available and move every slider or value you see just to see what the effect is.
@stuthurso "So long as you don't overwrite the original file you're using you can always go back to the beginning"
You probably know this but adding a duplicate layer immediately after opening the image can also save one from "unpleasant" choices. I tend to make a new layer each time I change to a new tool or effect if I intend to do a lot with the tool.

That's a really cool tip and one I never even thought of! Nice one, cheers for that.

Thanks a lot! I will definitely check that out And I'm in need of some pretty backdrops all my renders has been having those blackhole background that might suck you in any minute

Ahh! That's actually awesome! A whole new thing to discover for me Thanks a lot again and time for more learning And haha yeah I remember the pain I used to have when I accidentally replaced the original file and facepalmed all day
Some good news for people who have this but aren't sure about changing settings or altering skin maps in Photoshop to get different results. Olympia 8 and Sharah (who comes in the Olympia 8 Pro and Starter bundles) come with SSS maps that work perfectly with this shader. All you need to do is after you apply the shader is to swap out the transulucency map that is set automatically with Olympia 8's Sub Surface shader for a darker look and Sharah for a lighter one. Olympia comes with the same type of layered make up as Victoria 8 does and Sharah even comes with her make up baked into the SSS map. Both even come with or without brows. So if you invested in this product the Olympia 8 packs give you more options without having to change anything other than the Translucency map (and perhaps the specular map as well). Here is a quick render of Sharah (I can't help thinking that it's just Sean Connery calling her Sarah. LOL) using the original shader and the second picture is a very quick viewport render to show some of the varience the different maps give you. The Face is Olympia 7, the Torso Sharah and the legs are using Victoria 8's SSS to show that you can even use it as well. The arms are using Sharah's SSS with EcVh0's pale shader to show that you can even use it with that as well without needing to change anything but the maps! Give them a try and happy rendering!

Bad news DAZ has decided that this should be a separate product so yeah... separate product now

Okay I'm gonna cheat here as well XD A little post work on the pale skin render

Haha cool! At least I got a mini audience here
One more!
When Katarina finally grows old
The first image for the "pale skin shader" sold me the "regular" skin shader.
Thanks! Hope you will like it! :)
Would you be sad if I tell you the pale skin shader is a separate product?
I'll survive...

Thanks - making products can be fun too! (and can be a slog at times but I will gloss over that!).
You better

When I use a G3-skin on a G8-character, should I use your G3 or your G8 shader?
Or G8 for the eye parts and G3 for the skin?
I would say, if you want to do fast renders use G3 shader, otherwise use the G8 shader :)

Which skin(s) did you use to test your shaders on?
G8 and V8 by default, and if you want to use any character's texture you want, you will need to do a little bit of alteration :)
What would I need to do? I used another G8 skin and the back looks like elephant skin.
You will have to follow the big chunk of text I put up on top here: (Sorry about that!)
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/179826/released-ecvh0-skin-shader-for-genesis-8-female-commercial/p1
In short you can start with:
Change the transmitted color from "0.95 0.20 0.10" to "0.95 0.54 0.51"
Plug their diffuse texture map into the SSS node and get rid of their SSS map if their SSS map contains no color
Plug in their SSS map if their SSS map is colored and detailed :)
