I have a new video tutorial coming out (above linky ^^) that is for everyone, from novice beginner to hardened vet. Regardless if you just want to become better at your craft or your desire is to become a Daz Published Artist, all of the methods shown can help you along the way. I've taken the best of what I've had to learn since becoming a Daz PA and condensed it into a 90 minute personalized lesson, with a little odd humor thrown in!
Some of the lessons I go over are:
- Overlapping UV's
- Groupings
- Hierarchies
- Folder Structures
- Naming Conventions
- Figure Setup
- Assigning Weights
- Editing Parameters
- Smart Props
- Multiple Smart Props
- Creating Pose Controls
- Creating Alias Dials
- Saving Poses for G3 Figures
- Point At Commands (rigging pistons)
- ERC Controls
- Keyed ERC Controls (rigging aircraft landing gear)
- Dial Limits
- Packaging Your Product Zip File (Content Gatherer)
So come and join me as we learn Creating Content For Daz Studio!

I am so there. Thanks.
In my cart as soon as it comes out.
When?!?!??!
I am hoping for within a week and possibly as soon as tomorrow.
I am waiting with abaited breath.
In the cart. Thanks alot.
I hope you enoy it!
I'm sure I will. THank you for the help earlier also. Very helpful.
I look forward to not having to spend dozens of hours scouring the internet trying to find answers to my questions.
This looks like a must have for me as well...
There is a lot of content in these videos that should get you well along the way, if you have any questions please just ask!
If this was a physical object it would be wearth it's weight in gold..Saw it today, I was pretty sceptical at first since I know a lot about rigging and even about ERC freeze......but since DAZ tut's are, well, not so great in explaining the why (and are mostly only more of less okay in explaining the how), this is a verry valuable asset to your tuts....for instance I saw the point at parameter, but could not find (which is something else as it does not exist) any info on the DAZ website about it, that made me see the light, this tut however did and it also explained the inner logic of the ERC freeze, some of which I created more or less with luck and flaw (<- a lot of them).....
Now that means major rework at hand.....okay, work never heart anyone, right!
Ah, one teensy, wheensy question still remains.....where do you find the content gatherer?
http://www.daz3d.com/content-gatherer (hmzzz, that was easy)
and one remark:
You only hide the dials now that is fine until a client starts messing around with the cursor dials.....I lock everything first and hide then. In my experience that does not hide the cursor dials (you can't do that per bone/joint as far as I'm aware of) but it renders unwanted dials unfunctional and that is the next best thing IMHO.....any idea about what DAZ thinks about this.

Thanks! Providing information has always been a passion of mine, so I'm glad to hear you are mining for gold!
I am watching the mp4s right now. Is there a way to access this through Daz?
Do you mean through the install manager?? I see them in my DIM...but I'm not sure how that would work. I'll ask for you.
Since you brought up the mp4 files, you can view these videos either directly through the mp4's or you can double-click on the html file which brings up the video and a chapter menu! Viewing from the html file you can enlarge and minimize the video screen and select the chapters, no more hunting for what you really want to see...just select it!!
I just finished the piston tutorial. I need to try this. I have a folding stock on my model that was also telescoped. I was able to do this before I converted it to a figure but after the conversion I had some difficulty. Hopefully this will clear it up for me.
This is a great tutorial. I like how you are breaking everything down to the essentials. Especiallly the folder/file management.
This will save me much time.
How do you install into daz 4.9?
The Creating Content... set is a series of video tutorials, not content for use in Daz Studio.
I couldn't even get through the promo video on youtube because the music was so annoying. Is there music in the actual product?
Ok
I found the music extremely annoying, but more so than that, the fact that the author was saying "UMMMM" every few seconds during the first video, I had to shut it off and am returning it as I found that very unprofessional in a paid for video learning tool. Sorry....
The music is only in the promo.
I'm sorry you are not comfortable with my teaching style Kharma, I try to keep it like you and I are having a friendly conversation. No worries, different strokes for different folks!
I am sorry but I just couldn't get past hearing that repeatedly, it's more me than you, just one of those little nitpicky quirks I have. I am sure there will be dozens of people buying your product that won't even notice that.
I understand what you're saying...and it's all good.
I enjoyed the series very much! It's nice to see somebody else's workflow, especially for mechanical things.
I'd love to see something from you regarding your texturing/shader workflow as your end results look amazing. Heck, some of your mechanical modeling would be great to watch, too! Seemingly very accurate!

Just be aware that getting a response for content might... take a while.
I put in a submission a month ago, and I've gotten absolutely no response. Not even sure they got my email.
Thanks hOss, comments like yours let me know that I communicated with another artist...and that's exactly what my tutorials are for! I'll take your suggestions under advisement and see what I can do.
@timmins...was you response for me? I try and respond to all comments so please let me know if I have missed yours.
Oh no, what I meant was I put a submission for consideration to Daz Studio and have yet to get any form of response.
So I was pointing out patience would be a good idea. ;)
A month is a long time to wait. You should probably followup.

And always remember you need to "wow" them with the promo images.
Yes, I know. I have no idea if I did. Or if they've even looked at it. This is the second time I've submitted stuff with no response, and if I continue not to get a response, well, there are other stores.
