Welcome back! :D Get some rest. I look forward to seeing what you render once you've gotten some relaxing in. :)
Glad you made it home safely! I don't know if I could go two weeks without rendering anything lol.
had to go for w eek without and got heavy withdrawal, and I even got my blender learning with me..
(I'm a bit jealous I'm so far away, I'd like to have a meet up as well;), but its great to see you made it to visit each other)
@Linwelly You never know. I might make it to Germany again some day. If I do, I'd love to meet up. :)
I know what you mean about withdrawals. Luckily, I'm working on something so I hope to have it rendering soon. In the meantime, I'll be uploading some renders I did of a character I was testing before I went away. I got the go ahead to post from the vendor. I was going to upload them while I was away but the internet connections were just too bad to upload anything. I'll be working on posting those to my gallery tonight when I get back from taking boys to karate class.
I was fortunate enough to get to test out a new character by TheDarkerSideOfArt before I went on vacation. He said I could post my renders so here are a few of the renders I did before I left town. I really like the character. I have a couple of ideas for a few more renders so you'll be seeing him again very soon.
hahah What a funny and cute character! Great renders too! Nicely done, KM!
Soooo cute! I love the tinsel like hair
Oh for goodness sake, he is adorable! Nicely done!
I love all of the characters by @TheDarkerSideofArt. I think they are unique and fantastic. They are fun to play with. I'll be using him again in an upcoming render. I thought of something really brilliant if I can pull it off. Here is my first render since coming back from vacation. I think she's just perfect for one of my characters that I haven't really tried to visualize much yet. She's a minor character in the first book. Her story is in book two if I ever manage to finish the first book. Rendered in Iray, post in Gimp.
In the first book, she is roped into stowing away on a ship leaving Earth with her older sister who is trying to get away from some bad men on Earth. She and her pet iguana leave Earth and find adventure and romance.

It feels good to render something again. It's hard to believe that I managed a whole two weeks without rendering anything!
Her hair looks fantastic! Great focus and DOF, too.
Welcome back!

Welcome back!
She looks great! Now you need a good Iguana.... Glad you are back safe and sound as well!
@Algovincian Thanks so much! That was my first time rendering that hair. I was pretty pleased with how it came out. I don't usually do that close a DOF, but I think it worked great for the look I wanted.
@DarwinsMishap It feels good to be home. I love traveling, but I love coming home even more. :)
@IceDragonArt Thanks, I actually have an iguana that I got with her in mind. There will be a render with the two of them coming soon. I'm not sure how it will render, yet, but I'm hopeful it will look good.
If anyone hasn't seen it, Chanteur-de-vent's Futuristic Glass Elevator and Building Kit is in the store today. I was lucky enough to help test it out. It was the first building I had tested so that was a nice change. It is kind of hard doing promo's for a building and trying to keep said building as the main focus and not let it sit in the background. I think the promos for the glass elevator did just that. They all looked really good.
I did manage to come up with one or two images of my own that I thought were really good and, now, I get to share them with you guys now that the elevator is out in the store.

In the clouds:
This one, I want to redo. I forgot to turn off the ground and I think it will look cool with just the clouds. So, I'll be redoing that render today. I'll post it when it's finished.
This will probably be TMI, but, as a writer, I love the Romance genre. One of those subgenres that I happen to enjoy is the menage story if it is done well. I've been studying a lot of book covers lately and the menage covers are an interesting breed of cover. Most of them are done with photos and stock photos of single people and put together in such a way as if to look as one photo shoot happened in the making of the cover. Of course, there are some covers where one photo shoot did happen. This isn't usually the case, though.
I love posing and I thought it would be an interesting exercise to do my own series of "photo shoots" inside DS of some menage type renders. Who knows, I might come up with some renders that I'll try to turn into a book cover. That is still a goal of mine to do some day soon. I have to say that trying to pose three characters so that they all look like they belong together is NOT easy. There are so many things that can go wrong and if you try to fix one character, you usually end up having to adjust all three characters. Just making sure that all three have their feet on the floor is a trial and something you better make sure to have done before you get to the fine tuning stage of your posing! Let me tell you, it isn't fun to have not just two, but three characters linked only to find that one of them doesn't have their feet on the floor, but the other two do.
So, anyway, here is the first in my series of menage renders.

Oh, forgot to mention these are a mix of characters. The male is Elosolus for Genesis 3 Male by @DarwinsMishap. The girl on the left is FW Rebekah for Victoria 8. And, the girl on the right is FW Phoenix HD fo Victoria 7. Both of the girls are by Fred Wrinkler Art. I used all of them as stock character almost straight out of the box. I did have to tweak some surface settings on Rebeka, though, as her lip cover gave me some specular fits.
As usual for me, rendered in Iray and post in Gimp.
That is one beautiful Menage render KM!!!!
I love how he is going to kiss one girl and then holding hands with the other very nice concept!!
Wow, KM. VERY nicel done with the posing between the three. Definitely tells a story. Love the lighting as well.
Thanks, Saphire and DM! It's not perfect. But, I like how it turned out. I have some changes I want to make before I consider turning it into a book cover. We'll see how that goes. I'm working on the next Ménage render now. It's coming together nicely so far. It's a little more complicated as there are four characters in this next one.
Just finished up a test render of one of the characters in the next Ménage render. I wanted to see how the skin would look with the lighting I'm playing with for this one. So far so good. Unfortunately, I found a seam where the arm meets the torso so I'll have to fix that in post if it's in the final render. It's small, but it's there. Not a bad seam and it only showed up when I blew the render up very large. I think it's just one of those things that are really hard to get rid of and doesn't show up unless it's blown up very large. Anyway, a little bit of playing with the healing tool and I think I managed to minimize it to the point it isn't visible in this test render. It's not perfect, but I think it looks more like a skin blending in than a straight seam line. You'll have to let me know what you think.
I think the skin looks really good. I'm including the original full-size render for anyone who wants to see it before the fix and post work. Click on the picture to it at full size. I tried a slightly different postwork routine from my normal and I really like the effect on the skin in the final image. Not sure yet how that will work with four different characters in an image yet.

With Seam Fix:
Postworked:
I might have to lighten up the exposure a little. It looks a little darker than I would want for a final image. Not bad for a first run through of a new postwork flow.
He looks good! Dial in a bit of nipple I think might be my only suggestion his right pec needs it in silhouette espeically in the dark scene.
Thank you. :) Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try when I'm ready to do another test render. I'm leaning toward using the same skin, but different morph, one of the other males in the group for this render so I'll play dial that in and see how it goes.
Okay. Shoot me now, but I found the seam fix a bit lighter than the skin around it. Same for the last image. But... I like it in the last image as it looks like an old, faded scar. Seems to add a bit more character to him, adding a touch of possible danger... How did he get that scar? Looks like it could have been a knife... Should I trust him, or will he turn on me when I need him most...?
What character is that? And are you using his materials, or the materials of another character?
Anyway, I think he's gorgeous, and the final treatment on the image is great. I didn't notice the nipple, (or lack,) but after reading Serene Night's suggestion I looked again. I think it's one of those little details that adds to the realism, a nipple here, a scar there, a broken nose, an imperfect smile... If I saw this guy on a book cover, I'd be thinkin', "Hubba, hubba!"
Nice one! And I'm sure it must be the pose, but the arm pit looks a bit uncomfortable. The seem does indeed resemble a faded old scar. That's not a bad thing.
Thanks. I agree the non postworked version the skin that had the seam fix could still use a little more work. When I did the postwork, I try to maximize turning that into something that looked more like a scar so that's good that you noticed that. I'll work on it some more. I agree, I like the postworked version. I need to make some notes of that process and tweak it a little bit more.
Character is Mace by @GypsyAngel who I love. I did use the base skin that comes with Mace. He is one of my favorite characters of hers and I love her males just as much as I love @DarwinsMishap's characters. They are definitely my go to vendors when it comes to good male figures.
I agree that he's totally hot so he's perfect for this project. The goal is to get this series of ménage images ready to upload for sale as covers so we'll see what happens.
Thanks! Yeah, I think scars really help to add a little bit more realism to digital character. :)
Nice work with the menage book cover image. Must have been an impossible posing job. I have trouble getting two characters to dance, let alone something more complicated like this. The characters go well together.
You could consider a bit of a heavier vignette to darken up the feet area because those areas are lighter and may draw some attention away from the characters/spot light (and also because -- and this may only be me -- seeing where the male's feet are planted makes it look like his legs are very stiff/knees going back and makes him look a bit short legged, whereas if the area were dark, your mind would fill in the pose as flexible and fluid as the upper body is posed). I would imagine that the book title/author info would go in that area anyway. Also, I'm not certain the males second hand needs to be shown, it may be slightly distracting.
I hope I haven't overstepped and that you were looking for opinions. Take everything with a grain of salt and all that :)
I just picked up Mace about a week ago. He is absolutley gorgoeus! I agree, it does look like a faded scar which I really like.
Thanks for the encouragement. No overstepping. Opinions and suggestions are always welcome here. It's still a work in progress. I had similar thoughts about that other arm, too. I'm still trying to figure out how to deal with that. I thought of dropping it to his side so it wasn't as visible or maybe have the other hand on the other girl's waist. I'm still playing with it. You are correct about his feet and where the author's name goes. I still have to play with the best way to show off the typography. Dimension-wise I have it still in DAZ promo dimensions because that is my default at the moment. I keep it set at that for promo renders when I'm testing products. The book cover dimensions are a little different so when I figure everything out, the next render will be in the proper dimensions for an ebook cover. We'll see what happens when I do that next render.
Ah, I think you'll like him, Sonja. He's a great character. He has some interesting tattoos, as well, which I'll probably use on the second male in my foursome.
Healing Brush - photoshop tip. In photoshop the reason your skin would be lighter where you you used it would be because you sampled from a lighter area of skin. The best way to avoid this is to sample the area DIRECTLY above where you need to use it. Just enough above it that it's not catching the line that you don't want. When you start to use it to cover the area you are trying to blend you put your brush directly below the area you just sampled. For example: Sample for just above the farthest left side of the seam - place your mouse directly below this sampled area on seam - drag the brush to the right over the seam - the sampled area follows along pulling from the area directly above where your brushing the whole way across. This way you make sure you are sampling from the same shade as where you need to cover, even if the lighting changes as your brushing across. You have to be sure not to pick up your pen/or release the mouse key while dragging or it will start sampling again from the original sample point so be sure to do this with one brush stroke.
Hopefully it works teh same way in GIMP :)
Great tip. I'm terrible about picking my brush up too soon.
