I know its not filatoon but the anime figures look pretty good in iray as well. Alothiugh, to be fair, I did have to switch the eyes.
This has actually got me wishlisting items again.
Loving all the Filatoon content and have been mostly playing with the Gen9 stuff (which is real easy to get started on) but this one is Arianna 8.1 with Pippy Fay 8.1 texture (Arianna's texture was competing too hard with the Filatoon shader) Gen9 Toon eyebrows, eyelashes, eye socket and floating Iris all fit with auto fit, the Gen9 hair also auto fits well.
i'm still miffed with Daz (all my new Toon content costed 30% more than it needed) and i'll remember how poorly they handled the roll-out for a long time but this new addition is fantastic so i'm just acknowledging that.
Toon Tim (by NickolausArt) one of my favourite toon characters for G8.
Just playing. This really is a game changer!
Wow, looks great! Didn't realize you could auto fit the eyes to G8. I wonder if it will work with G3 too...
I took a scene that I rendered a while back
and tooned it.
Since I only briefly dabbled with Filament before FilaToon was released, I don't know if the emissives not actually casting light onto anything is a limitation of Filament, Daz's implementation of Filament, or FilaToon itself.
Figure I may as well crosspost this.

Lets try some stuff.
My pretty prince character makes an even prettier anime guy. I added the anime preset at about 70%, then fiddled with his nose a bit (it looks fine normally, but comes out a bit weird with the anime morph) and removed his HD morphs. The only real down side is that I'm supposed to be writing about him, not rendering him...
So much discovery to make with this new shader... a great distraction from what else is happening here.
If you have any older toon hair, they can work well. Check out some by Lady Littlefox and I thought this one from Smay turned out well. https://www.daz3d.com/nata-toon-hair-for-genesis
I played with it for about two hours-not too bad. I will have to re-read the threads here and mada's post and go over some of Jay's filament settings. I love the tooning. (I got the extra filament options in the store also a couple of days ago too) :P
There's a bundle of old LLF hair pieces converted for Aiko 3 that would be perfect for this.
More toying with FilaToon, this time experimenting with custom LUT and MatCap textures. Tried to get a style similar to the Japanese gay artist Mentaiko (NSFW).

Nice! LUT's is the one part I don't quite get and haven't managed to get working, but I like what I'm seeing here.
The spotlights are hating me. But I think I got a decent result out of them anyway.
Wow! That's probably the most refined render I've seen done with Filatoon yet.
I tried loading a G9 character with hair and and outfit (BJ Akki, SU Casual Style G9, and SU Everyday Long Hair G9), and applying "FilaToon - General.duf" to everything:
2024-10-16 10:46:23.620 [INFO] :: Prepare asset load (merge): /Shader Presets/FilaToon/Presets/FilaToon - General.duf

From the log, this took about 7 seconds.
Then, I tried loading a G8 character with the same hair and and same outfit (BJ Sina, SU Casual Style G8F, and SU Everyday Long Hair G8F), and applying "FilaToon - General.duf" to everything:
2024-10-16 12:09:29.614 [INFO] :: Prepare asset load (merge): /Shader Presets/FilaToon/Presets/FilaToon - General.duf

From the log, this took about 93 seconds.
Are others seeing a similar slowdown? (about 13X as long)
Is this because I have more G8 characters than G9?

ETA: This was in 4.23.0.3
Unless/until I can load DS on a second computer, I'm gonna keep using PWToon. I found the complexity of trying to keep the newest resources separate from older resources and trying not to break backward compatibility was a bit overwhelming. Also, it seems Filament rendering has its own gotchas. So, I'll let others work the bugs out and maybe join the fun later. I'm used to working in 3DL, anyway.
My first go at using MatCap and LUT. Had no idea what I was doing so its guesswork.
The Genesis 1 hair, Pure Hair: Crazy was living up to its name. It was disappearing as I was trying to render a photoset!
Here is a proper pic. I blurred the background in GIMP. Need to re-learn lighting.
I'm definitely seeing a MUCH slower load of the FilaToon presets on G8 as opposed to G9 (or any other figure I've tried it on). They load very fast for G9 or even G3 and G2, but getting it onto G8 takes WAY longer. It's very strange. I don't have any exact numbers but will try and do an experiment and get the exact times.
Filatoon (with my own custom Filatoon settings) on Keiko 6: https://www.daz3d.com/keiko-6
I started watching some anime on Netflix and noticed, at least in the particular show I was watching, that the lighting was totally flat. No shading on skin at all. The only shadows were ground shadows. Which makes me feel better because I can't seem to get lighting to work in FilaToon. I tried putting in colored rim lighting and it did nothing. But non-anime comics definitely do have shading so I will have to figure it out. I'm not sure why my lighting doesn't work even if I crank it up...
Can you share a screenshot of everything in your scene tab? Sometimes that can help to narrow down what the issue might be. For instance, you need a Distant Light in the scene, I recommend NOT having an Environment Options Node, NOR a Tonemapper Options node and JUST using the Filament Draw Options node and adjust the settings on the Filament Options Node accordingly.
Did you try applying he Filatoon hair shader to the hair? That might help with the transmap issues?
