My first opportunity to use some new items - Lesya is the most recent (from November sales), Eye of the Lotus and Kon Hair are from the last days of the Daz+ Sale.
Wow. The Kon hair looks so sleek and glossy
Yes, doesn't it - it's just the way the dark preset loaded. I removed the fringe (= bangs) to make it look more like the wigs they used to wear, although I'm not sure the Egyptians ever had ringlets like that.
Picked up the Monster Maker kit today and thought I'd do a quick render.
Well, I say "quick," but actually the setup was a lot more finicky than I expected (the head port and eyepiece are not G9-conforming and had to be positioned by hand, and poor Magika is wearing six (6!) geoshells. And then for some reason the renderer took close to ten minutes of churning before it ever started to actually do iterations, thirty minutes of rendering to get just past five hundred iterations, and another ten-ish minutes of churning to settle back down to a point where Studio responded to clicks again after I cancelled and saved the render at a half hour. (To give you comparison, most of my renders, at the standard 1000x1000 size I use, start immediately and hit their 5000-iteration stop in seven to twelve minutes.)
It might be Charlie's Operation Theatre set, which I've had trouble with before because it's hugely overlit and makes the renderer lose its mind a little. Or it might be those six geoshells. Anyway, it's a touch grainy because I cut it off. It's also got content warnings for (very slight) blood and surgical themes, so I'll let you click to expand the attachment on your own in case you'd rather not see it at full size.
The hardest part was tweaking the scalp to look like it was the same skin as the rest of her head, but had suffered a bit from being separated from its blood supply for a while.

Thanks for the write up columbine... I bought the monster maker too... (fingers crossed for when I try it) ;) Well done.

Most of what I had to mess with was not Monster Maker, it was the other stuff. But it's worth noting that you may well end up with a pile of geoshells for Monster Maker the way it's put together. Notice I've got one set of stitches around the skull and another around the eye? Well, it's not set up to do that in a single shell. So you end up with: 1) shell for the head stitches 2) shell for the head incision 3) shell for the eye stitches 4) shell for the eye incision 5) shell for the different skin on the top of the head. And you probably want to set their offsets so they stack in a usable order. Just so you know.

Thanks for the kind comments about my Vicky and the Bugekko picture. I am loving looking at this thread every day and seeing the great things people are making with their purchases. Queen of the Nile is so beautiful and there are so many creative and gorgeous renders! Keep on rendering!
He's very handsome. The Dain 9 materials have come in really handy, I've borrowed his normals a few times now.
Also really like the Rock Edge hair, just wish there were more ways to pose it! I think I'm going to have to make a rule: no more static hairs.
Aw, thanks! I'm very pleased with how he came out. For the record, his normals and most skin settings are based on Jack, the base texture was created with FaceGen, and the shape is converted Face Transfer with about 20% Dain dialed in. Definitely a "Franken" G9.
I've noticed a bunch of otherwise nice hairs with no or minimal shaping/morphs lately. I'm OK with their limitations at the sale prices we've seen the last couple of months, but yeah, I would definitely prefer more options.
It's a bit of a stretch and I'm uploading it late, but I'm going to count this.
Someone on the Daz3D Slackers Discord said that it was "Kinda late for a nap but I’m half zombie", which inspired a mental picture of my ghoul character passed out on the couch.
And for that, I ended up buying SF Horrible Slime Iray during the Daz+ sale to have her unglamourously drooling on the floor.

I already commented in the gallery, but I'll repeat it here: love the idea and the execution.
I started years ago with this idea about a setting with a grand narrative, but quickly realised it was just more fun to show fantasy creatures doing really mundane stuff.

Couldn't find much time for the forums last week, but came in to see what everyone was sharing at least during that time. Always enjoy seeing all the renders.
paulawp (marahzen) Great use of so many new things in your renders! I agree with Sid, your guy on the Tube looks great!
Calliope23 Vicky and the Bugekko - Love your space princess! I think these two could have so many adventures together!
MelanieL Lesya looks great with that eye of the lotus makeup - have to try that one out!
columbine You had a lot of patience with that Monster maker kit. I don't want to know what happened to your character... Eek.
luci45 Super colorful portrait. The bright colors really pop!
Matt_Castle Amazing fun and creepy capture - done so well! "Fantasy creatures doing really mundane stuff" is a wonderfully entertaining niche you found.
acb Had a rough night - Love it! That's kinda how I've been feeling all week... Lol
joanna Arrgh! - Know that feeling all too well. You did great with her expression!
and tsroemi Thanks for letting everyone know that you enjoy coming in here to see what everyone's been sharing. I feel the same way. Wish we could and posts though! That'd be so cool!
I am seriously going to be doing "New stuff" renders into next year at this rate. I was looking for a good excuse to use Streets of the Mediterranean Redux, but ultimately I threw together a bunch of new stuff for this one, including a couple of items that I picked up in the last hours of the Great Token Sale ...
OK, it's a little cheaty to count all of the flowers since some of them are in the pots up by the door and you can't really see them, but I promise, they're there.
Both of the past two days I've only gotten stuff from the Daz+ Sale categories, which are upwards of 80% off for Daz+ people. This means picking up a number of cheapies I probably would not have bought for more than that because they have obvious latter-day shortcomings. Today one of the items I picked up was petipet's old Resort Lagoon, which is not a resort and does not come with a lagoon. The weakness of this one was that it was going to need to be resurfaced top to bottom. But it came out well and here is a test render, featuring a guest appearance by Boaty McLifeboat and a couple of copies of Deepsea Eve.
I picked up JoLab's old BioSquad Dragonfly and BioSquad Spike very, very cheaply in one of the Daz+ category sales. They're both old enough that I would not have paid much for them because of the risks they wouldn't upfit well. As it happens, Dragonfly, a G1 kit, autofits beautifully to G8. It has been slightly resurfaced for Iray and then heavily geoshelled to look slimy. It does not look slimy enough. I need to work on that. I would like it if someone made a dForce "slime" prop that you could literally drip down over a figure so it's dripping slime everywhere. (Mechasar's excellent Slime Attack kit--even better now that he's updated it--is lovely but the slimes are all preshaped.) The dripping slime in this one is five different props from EArkham's Nightmare Oozes kit and it isn't good enough.
Thank you luci45! I wish I could get the robe to sim as well as it does in sshodan's promo, but my computer was having none of it. I was lucky to get as far as I did.
Your Rosie looks like she's having fun on the huge hoverboard, Dartanbeck.
Quick one to try out a couple of more grab sale items
https://www.daz3d.com/contour-wings-ariel - because of 'quick' I could not easilly work out how to put this on Genesis 9, so on an older Gen8 figure here which it's designed for
Well, this is a mixture of oldies - the Millenium Dragon which I got in 2007 as part of a bundle, Jim Burton's Glamorous Vickie 3 (Dec 2004) and some Iray volumetric fire & the icy background HDRI bought in the last few days of sales. GV3, being TriAxed with autofit clones is wearing G3F hair & G8F clothing.
Feels very retro, reminiscent of NVITWAS type images without going that far.

Sometimes that's what's nice about a broad sale like that; that you can go and grab the asset you've just now realised you need.
I already commented in the gallery, but I'll repeat it here: love the idea and the execution.
Had a rough night
... but nobody cared.

Somehow I was inspired by dForce Diana Nightie for Genesis 9, 8.1 and 8 Female? Why? I don't really know. Your guess would certainly be as good as mine.
She is 40% Demira for Genesis 9, 40% CHB Scarlett and Expressions for Genesis 9, and 20% CHB Valentina for Genesis 9 with Death 9 HD (Adult) skin... Deamarltina then?
I started years ago with this idea about a setting with a grand narrative, but quickly realised it was just more fun to show fantasy creatures doing really mundane stuff.
Yes, sometimes cozy and casual beats epic. :)
No time to render, work needs to be done... But yesterday, I needed a break, so here it is.
Arrgh!
Working on a project. I'm not screaming. She's screaming.
From November sales: dForce Molly Hair for Genesis 9, CJ Elysia For Genesis 9, and dForce Blood Hunter Outfit for Genesis 9. The rest of the items in the gallery.
I love it! (You're so good with the fuzzy and furry ones.)
Thank you so much! I guess, it helps, that I always had one or two of the hairy kind in my life.

I just got this board from Kara this week
Sienna - Autumn Portrait
I used the Summer Scarf Hair for Genesis 8 Female and Rainy Koo dForce Dress and Ribbon for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Females -- both of which I bought in the last couple of days.
