Mary,
This sounds quite scary. I do hope everything works out for you.
Cheers,
Alex.
Thank you Alex.
I hope it turns out to be something they can easily fix, or even better, something safe to ignore.
This is my days long attempt at UltraScenery2 with FilaToon. I used Pines Classic Content. Basically, I had no idea what I was doing with all those FilaToon and Filament Draw Style controls. I had a lot of crashes along the way, when I tried to raise the preview percentages too high or tried to change something else that affected the preview while it was still working on generating the preview display. I did use a layer mask to hide the preview of the area not visible and I turned on OFF the preview of some layers, like river pebbles and road pebbles. I also changed the color of some items that were too yellow or too pale with the FilaToon shader applied. I added a normal map to the water to try to make ripples. I noticed interesting differences between Mipmaps on and off. In the end, I generated both and combined them in Photoshop. Then I ran it through Krea Enhance for fun. I think USC2 is not really well suited to FilaToon, or at least not until I have a better handle on the settings.
Eek, heart things are pretty worrying.
I had to have an ECG then spend 24 hours with a mini-heart monitor attached a few years ago after having a worrying irregular heartbeat - in my case the good news was that it turned out to be caused by caffeine. I went decaffinated at once and have had no problems since. Guess I was very lucky, but it was scary at first.
I really hope they find a non-serious or at least fixable cause for your problem. Wishing you well!
Hope for the best.
Thank you @barbult for taking a look at FilaToon renders of UltraScenery 2.
Yes, I also have crashes of Daz Studio especially when I were changing back preview percentages
to some lower values.
I still think there is a great potential with FilaToon and I want to explore it more.
The speed of rendering in FilaToon is unbeatable and I like it very much.
I don't know, that looks pretty cool to me. Reminds me of a game environment on some system with lighter resources. Not quite dumbed down to Switch levels, but...
My computer isn't up to handling so many preview instances, I guess. The frustration due to so many crashes and visual glitches made it not very fun. USC2 wasn't really designed to preview all that grass, etc. It was more to see where the trees would be, I think. (There is a typo in my original message saying I turned on river pebbles and road pebbles. I actually turned those things OFF. Having those on would have probably been impossible.)
i turned my trees down to 25%. I'm crashing too much. It worked last time, we will see
Experiment with grass only and a water splash. Have even increased preview of the grass to 100% and there was no crash.
What is that brown squiggly background?
This is the dome from https://www.daz3d.com/the-dome-old-tree
I have not succeded to set up HDRI background in FilaToon yet,
so I have put the dome in the scene instead.
Another experiment with UltraScenery 2 and FilaToon
and postworked version.
Another trial of UltraScenery 2 rendered with FilaToon
it sure creates an entirely different look to the scene. Simplified and clean.
Thanks for the comments, @daveso
I like to play with FilaToon very much so, I experiment with it when I have a time.
Need to fix leaves materials, though.
My first Atmouspheres set has been released today, ( Atmosphere Volume 1 - Dramatic render settings ) It was very much designed with Ultrascenery in mind . This was the ultrascenery image that sparked the idea of some sets of render settings to help make the scenes look as good as they could.
In fact the image ended up being used as a promo for the bundle, also used is britain botanica and the wetlands terrain settings - cant remember what the actuall terrain setting was called, but it was one of those. The god rays are what resulted in the render settings for the ground fog and the trees hitting each other, i did add some vbd mist over the water surface to add a bit of atmouphere, but the rays are real... bit like finding a unicorn in those woods lol. However ive managed to get a few sets of render settings that re create this now some in this set and more plus a whole bunch of render setting tweaks waiting for a release date. Hopefully these will help folks here.
*edit - the sharper eyes amongst you may notice a bit of a teaser here..... something is coming.......
Just tried iray rendering of UltraScenery 2 to test
https://www.daz3d.com/atmosphere-volume-1--dramatic-render-settings
but could not get them to work.
Rendering Time: 29 minutes 29 seconds, quite a difference to instant rendering time with FilaToon.
As i said in the other thread, these wont work with an hdri map they sun sky only settings and should revert to that as part of the render settings as they rely on the sun settings, time of day and date as well as latitude and longditude which are all turned off when you use an hdri. the fog and ground fog portions of the render settings will work, but not the others.
Thank you for the explanation. With sun sky only settings it looks very nice.

These look really lovely. I have bought The new atmos product but can't get to my PC to play at the mo' due to RL issues. Can't wait to play with this with USC and some other sets I want to try it with.
Guys,
Martin J Frost's latest colaboration with Howie has just hit the store:
https://www.daz3d.com/ultrascenery2--biomes-volume-2
Now, how about some landscape features that fully exploit US2's maxiumum scene size of 256 square metres?
Cheers,
Alex.
Indeed there is a lovely new bundle of water and wetland plants in store now. It includes water ireses, reeds, floating plants and some updated bullrushes and water lilys.
UltraScenery2 - Biomes Volume 2
All of thes eplants haved been built and textured especially for use in ultrascenery, with ultra low res versions included which much improve any results you would have importing simelar high resolution plants with alienator. This will greatly reduce the load in your scene. The plans they represent are typical of temprate wetlands around the world, and should come in very handy indeed.
The product contains biomes only - A whopping 23 biome layers to choose from all of which fill the gaps in watery areas - you need a scene with a water feature for these to work, and all of the plants have the special ultrascenery shaders to insure that there is a wet bit at the bottom of stems, stems change color as they hit the water and go below the surface and thus look very realistic.
For me personally this is a great step forward as the options for planting waterways quickly and realisticly have been a little limited up untill now, and this both greatly updates some exisiting Ultrascenery plants such as the bullrushes with better textures and low res version and introduces some much needed flowers and reeds in to the mix not to mention the flowting plants to break up the water surface around stems and lily pads as seen in real life!
FIND IT HERE
shocked. Shocked I tell ya, that no one has posted a render of the new biomes. I have it in my cart.
I'm still at work.
just bought it, but i'm headed to bed.
Just a quick and easy one. I also tested out the new atmospheres from a few days ago.
