WIP #1 - Edmund Dantes Retrieves the Treasure in Count of Monte Cristo
Having a lot of trouble with the props for this one. Very disappointed in some otherwise good Daz Published Artists. The treasure chests and the treasure bags have only one material zone and one shader. No differentiation for the contents. Will probably try to fix in post rather than do more renders. I have attached the raw render and the scene setup. I put volumetric clouds in the distance then shined some different colored spotlights backwards to get the dawn effect. Michael 6 with some Carrara hair grown directly on the mesh.
great render @Diomede... but just wondering how he fitted into that small boat ...
love the atmosphere and posing.. awesome
Thank you. Maybe he made multiple trips? It would be worth it.
Thanks for the compliments. Alas... trying to keep the internet on is becoming difficult so I'm disappearing once again. Hope to be back in time to compete
OK, try to stay warm up there in the polar vortex land. Will be thinking of you. Let me know if there is anything I can do to make it easier to participate.
A small tribute to the Aussies who support Carrara.
Went old-school, with Freak 3 and V3. Carrara sun and realistic sky. My Beach for the land and sea props. Santa Beard for G3 again, but a different hat (Santa Baby). And cutouts. :)
No postwork.
Great render! Santa is ripped, ready, and resting.

the turning point in the game came when the teams best player Mr Bobble was bowled behind his legs by a cracking yorker..
modelled the scoreboard, cricket pads, helmet, gloves, bat and ball and morphing stumps.. converted Mr Bobble's soccer pitch to a cricket pitch.... like why wouldn't you
and retextured Mr Bobbles clothes. The background is the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Looking Great !!!
You're making me tempted to buy Mr Bobble as well !
Here's a very prelim WIP for an idea I'm working on. It uses Portal of Riza, Carrara shaders and displacement bumps, a couple of figures yet to come, rendered in Carrara and post work in On1 photoraw. Shrodenger's Dilemna: what do you get when you cross Schrodinger's cat with "The Lady or the Tiger"? And yeah, you have to go in because there's a couple of big guys with spears to move you along.
I redid the Santa hat with Carrara hair per Stezza's request.
Adding the hair wasn't difficult, but getting the lighting right took a lot of fiddling. And unlike what I have heard recently on this forum, Carrara hair loads very slowly - even with 24 buckets. Testing the lighting took a couple of hours. I do love having the hair available to use - but it ain't fast. :)
Excellent render, Stezza! Great emotion, lighting, modeling and textures.
I don't exactly understand the appeal of this character, but it is nice to see standalone figures still being made. You definitely made the most of this one.
thanks @UnifiedBrain ... I don't get the appeal either... maybe that's the appeal
with the hair renders can take a long time.. what I do is turn the highlights down from the default 25 to either 0 or 2 or 3 ... depend where I get the slider to.. that helps heaps and I untick GI because I fake it..

Sounds good !!!
When the forums won't let me directly upload an image I post the image to My Gallery and copy the image location to the forum post.

Glad you were able to get your WIP pic uploaded eventually. Looks like a great start. I think the upload problems are widespread and occur often. And for some reason, I could not both (a) include your pic in my quotes, and (b) add my own comments. Argh.
Looking forward to where you take this portal idea.

Whose Voice or should it be Who's Voice
modelled all except the Daz dog, stuffed toy and the elf... can you find the elf?
used Carrara hair on the dog and used a HDRI image for the background.
Getting betterer !!!
First Contact or The Day the Earth Stood Still ? (I spot some UFOs)
Very cute !!!
Is the Elf's reflection showing on the Gramophone ?
I thought maybe Spike ate him
I think the elf is inside a cube on a chair.
locked up till next Christmas

The turning point when aliens decided not to make further contact was when one was forced to do the limbo!
you can get the limbo sticks I modelled from the wacky modelling pages
all models were modelled in Cararra except for Genesis and Dawn....
Sounds good !!!

Definate improvement !!!
The torture methods of Earthlings .....

Oh, is that the Poser figure Dawn? I have not been able to get the rigging to work for figures after Poser 8. Great job.
thanks @diomede ... no it's not the Poser version it's the DS version of Dawn... like you say the Poser version don't work in Carrara
