I guess perception depends on where you were raised, and it's hard to break that. People age young where I come from, so when I moved to Finland it was a shock to the system. People here hit thirty looking like nineteen-year-olds back home. With environment and diet, I didn't age much either, I visit home and my peers look so... old. You simply can't take another culture's face and bash it for looking unaged. I see an adult when I look at Yoya. Inversely, the Kansas boy in me understands why someone would see her that way.

You know, they preserve meat too by putting it to a freezer cheeky

Yoya looks adult to me too

I didn't bash her; 'age' or 'youth' are completely neutral terms - at least for me.
In fact, everyone sees what their upbringing, their daily visual experience, their cultural system has taught them, so the argument here is pointless. You and Gordig see an adult, I see a teenager. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When Björk's debut album came out I was in high school, and I swear we all had this massive crush thinking she was "one of us," our age. Nope. Old enough to be our auntie at the time. :D Same thing.

Perhaps I'm more 'experienced' at recognising Asian faces, because for a European city there are an above-average number of Asians living in our town. Anyway, I don't think Yoya's face really looks grown-up and that her face and body don't really match.

I live in the Seattle area, attended the University of Washington, speak Korean and Chinese and spent time at a Korean university. You're obviously free to your opinion about how old she looks, but you're punching well above your weight when it comes to familiarity with Asian faces. I dated a Japanese woman who was in her early 20s and looked younger than Yoya.

I really like MB Yoya's head sculpt and textures, but can't see myself ever using her body morph.

Her 'full bust and a perfect waist-to-hip ratio' are not 'fullfilling your dreams' ? blushangel

East Asian countries make up 21% of the world's population, and that's not counting the diaspora. Of course they're going to be common.

Yoya could be a teen or an adult, judging by just her face (her body is clearly full grown). She doesn't look pre-teen for sure. My "Asian credentials" are that I am Asian. Two cents, etc.

https://www.daz3d.com/ah-madison-monokini-outfit-for-genesis-9-8-and-81-female looks nice - from the front.

If anyone buys it anyway and would care to share any view of the back of the outfit, that would be appreciated, because I'm not planning on going through a buy-and-return cycle solely to find out what the entirely unshown rear view looks like.

Don't want to be a nuisance, but poking this in case anyone can help.

I know some product promos don't show the back because the QA team decided they showed too much butt, but I thought mannequin promos were largely exempt from that, so I'm disappointed we're only shown one side of the product. (Even if it were only in greyscale with the product floating in mid-air).

that looks to be real nice product, but considering there is little cloth to it, maybe the price should be a bit lower?

I accept that, if I'm buying a product with support for both G8 and G9, the vendor has had to do much of the work twice.

Having made quite a few clothing assets first, the initial meshing and texturing is much easier and more enjoyable than the figure setup.

Heh! This reminds me of a sale back (several!) years ago when the sale page was trumpeting that V4 clothing was half off!

One wit in the forums commented that V4 clothing was *always* half off...

Today, for the first time, I was tempted to put not one but TWO new releases in my cart.

That braid with hat is exactly what I've been looking for and failing to find for one of my characters... except the braid is way too short. I would've even paid full price if only there'd been the option for waist-length.

And the Musketeer outfit was great... even has a sword belt! ...with nowhere to put the actual sword. I swear this is my version of the unarticulated toilet seat: the number of figher-type outfits with a promo image of somebody with a sword... and nothing on their get-up to carry it.

Ah, well. Better luck next time, I guess.

Really like the Victorian Outfit and the Musketeer one. Unfortunately they are only for G9 and I didn't jump on this wagon so far.

At least I put the Victorian in my Wishlist and a converter G9 -> G8 as well. Maybe next month or so.

  • Do like the Draconna X Weapons pack, particularly the crossbow. Looks well made.

    Regards,

    Richard

i have not ventured into Gen 9 stuff yet, but I like the looks of the "dForce Women's Office Outfit for Genesis 9". Does Gen 9 stuff autofit to Gen 8 without difficulty and with just standard autofit capability?

You need to buy the clones first. I have not done a ton of G9 to G8 autofitting yet, but what I've tried has worked fine. I assume the usual limitations apply.

Do rather like the look of the pajamas. Although just about every generation gets their own medical pajamas. But these do look rather well in the promos.

Can see what you mean, I'm not quite sure about him myself though. He does look extremely good in some of the promos but just plain flat in others. I really wish we had some kind of standard lighting set up that all vendors would always include at least one promo shot of, at least for characters. But seeing that you can return him if he doesn't measure up, I guess just go for him!

And I see another classic Arki outfit. Does anyone know what headress is used here. it seems to be in most of the promos, but it isn't listed among the components.

I go up and down on FW's Finnish Brutalism -- it's kind of an acquired taste, and I can only use it in stories in very specific situations, so I haven't cared to acquire much of it -- but I do note that the Portaikko stairs are the only time I can ever recall seeing tactile paving in a stairway model.

(Those are the bumps where the stairs start and end--or even when they have a short straightaway in the middle--for the visually disabled as a warning signal.)

That tactile stuff is used a lot in Finland. So for example, you'd think the configuration of bricks at every tram stop here in Tampere is a stylistic choice because they put it in so seamlessly, but in reality the purpose for such-and-such a brick facing the way it does is to guide you to exactly where the door will be when the tram stops. Likewise with subtle uneven things all over the place. It's a terrible place to live if you use a wheelchair. Asweome of you're blind - in the summer when all the tactile stuff isn't covered in snow.

It's awesome to see it thrown in, even unnecessarily, in Daz. And awesome you noticed.

(and those sets retexture nicely, if you do sci-fi)
