I'm having a brain fog moment, but how can I make it so that a figure (or any other individual item) doesn't reflect? I just bought the new Iray version and hnnnnnngh this is just what I needed for a lot of things, but I for the life of me can't figure out how to make something not be reflected. :T

IRAY doesn't allow for switching off reflections only. You will need to work with two renders: one of the scene without the figure and then a spot render of just the part with the figure and combine them in a photo editing program.

  • Ehhhh, it’s a little extra work, sure, but it ain’t a dealbreaker for me in the long run. Especially since it saves time trying to create populated sci-fi city scapes and such. :V

Oh Wow! I was expecting this be released tomorrow for some reason. So cool to find the comments here.

You cannot hide figures or props except to hide them like the dweller in this image. You are seeing its reflection here as the actual figure is tucked into the alcove, just around the corner from that first lamp on the left.

I'm going to start the commercial thread now but will answer questions in both places.

I just got kaleidoscope but have not played with it yet.  I am trying to think how to use it while my computer renders a microwave on a bed scene.

edit I cancel the rendering of that scene to add Kaleidoscope to it.   I had to remove some walls to get the effect.  Computer will be tied up until morning it seems.  Yes the microwave is still on the bed(s),

Here's the result of my playing around with an interior setting.  Before and after.  I'm LOVING this!

    Kaleidoscope

Awesome way to change things up and give more life to pretty much any model!  I like how the k-scope effect makes it seem like a long, rounded corridor with more windows.

This is a render of what I did.  I would say quick and easy, but that was just the setup.  Not sure how long the render took but it was iray.
