@jakiblue you might not get by with that. The really really tiny fine print on the flash sale says you can't use it to purchase something you own at a lower price. This is just another example of Daz alienating customers. I hope it works out for you.
I noticed that too - which completely sucks and is ridiculous- but im hoping as it was mere HOURS since I had purchased the base item, it’ll slide through. If it had been three weeks, I’d certainly let it slide, but it was only a few hours.
That fine print is ridiculous - there’s a thirty day refund policy here, pulling that fine print crap is stupid.
Happy belated birthday @Novica! :)
Thanks for mentioning the flash sale of Message shirt magic. I am having fun playing with some of my fancy fonts with butterflies and flowers.
I wonder if (and yes, how...) You got them all to work, because for me many are displayed totally garbled, as if they were only ASCII symbols, I even checked the files in the "Demo Presets" folder (in Data) but many don't make any sense at all... uninstalled and downloaded the product and got the same problem again.
EDIT: found a thread in which that problem is explained: the script or rather the example files use unicode characters, which are depending on the regional window setup used. As I'm german and used a german setup, those unicode characters will not be display properly. And also probably not for people from other countries, who used their regional window setup. Which, in my perception, is a serious flaw in the program.
Not a problem when one got it for $ 1.99 like I did today, but it would have been a sure return to DAZ if I would have bought it full price...
I have all 3 of the Daz Studio Scene Tools - I was totally surprised the were in the PCFD. (I paid the full release price. ) I like them, but forget to use them sometimes. It is nice to have them on a toolbar though!
I HATE it when they change the PC+ coupons in My Account early, I wanted to see if I'd used both for June. Just a reminder, today is the last day to use those. July's are already there.
Some of the presets do show up garbled for me, and some look garbled because they are in Leetspeak (or however that's spelled with numbers) so it might not entirely be a regional thing. But yes, I am in the states and many of them work. You can still look up cute/funny shirt sayings and type them in yourself. If you install fonts to windows, they will show up in the plug-in after restarting Daz.
Sorry the product has been frustrating for you.
@gitika1 thank you.
I went ahead and purchased it.
Already used my July PC+ coupons already to get the G8F/G8M kimonas, hanfu outfit, karate gis, and coverall textures while they where still already deeply discounted.
I appreciate the reminder of the coupons. I had forgotten we were in a new month. I spent the day producing one render, which only converged to 43% after 2 hours. And that is with everything closed that was not in the frame. But a person, kitten and a dog I guess that did it.
So this shows some of my purchases over the past few days.
Catty 8.1 HD I like the character, who is based on a real person but is also a good base to morph others I believe. The body is 'REAL' in size.
The hair is one I use a lot, Neroli Hair by chevybabe25, it is so fun to mess with.
The outfit is from x-trart3d, X-Fashion Summer Ladies Outfit. The blouse is dForce and did a lovely job. The shorts are not dForce, but even in the pose I used, there was no need to adjust anything before or after on the character. No poke through. The sandles are from esha's All Season Shoes. Love that they are so versatile. The necklace was from Rendo, Fabiana's Boho Life Jewelry and the glasses from dforce Boho Style Outfit, by Sixus_1_Media.
The pose and the stool is from the Take a Seat pose and prop set. I was very impressed with a sitting pose set that included the stools they used! So nice. The seat's color and then the background of the set, drove the choices I made for the clothing and other things in the picture. I bought all the 'Avil' sets today in the $3.99 sale and this is the balcony. The drink is from Fancy Cocktails. The magazine from IDG Drape Vignette.
I had Zorro in this render, I had render the other two chihuahua's already, I bought the bundle. Cute is too simple, there are teeth to keep you alert. The pose and bowls in the back come from the bundles' prop and pose set. His playmate is the DAZ House Cat but with the morph and pose from 'SBibb Kitten Poses and Morph' which is not for sale now in the store, I think it was a 2020 Christmas Freebie. Nice.
This started with me testing an HDRI that j cade linked to in the Catty thread. The only other light is from another favorite light, Monochrome Light Set.
So in honor of the misery of the Pacific Northwest, here is Early Summer Heat Wave.
I do have a request for help from anyone who might know what is happening to this dress, Essence for Genesis by Mada. I do not want to link to it, as it may be something I am doing wrong or it may be due to Iray. The dress loaded with the dark red material and I went with it. I didn't realize there were sleeves but I like this anyways. But look at the lighter pink/red 'V' shape and 'ring' at the waist and hips. It didn't show up on the screen until I rendered the image. The lines also show up on the lighter pink material, but not on the black or white materials.
Does anyone have an idea what I may have done to it?
If they don't show up until you render, they might be a diffuse overlay. Look for a diffuse overlay weight in the surfaces pane, and if it's there, zero it out and try rendering again.
Thanks @Gordig, loading the file now.
Mary
@Gordig, well I didn't find 'Diffuse Overlay Weight' would 'Diffuse Strenght' be the same in 3delight?
I moved it to zero, and those marks delineate the top and skirt vs a waist area.
Sorry, I missed that you were working in 3DL. I can't be any help in that case.
Just to be clear: are you rendering in Iray -- which you mentioned in this post -- or are you rendering in 3Delight?
Essence was made before Iray was part of Studio, so there may be something going on with its 3Delight shader that makes it not work as well in Iray.
That said, I have Essence, and looking at it, the two lighter areas are actually separate surfaces -- Top Trim and Dress Trim. They have the same materials, but different settings than the other parts of the dress -- which is to say, they're supposed to be doing what you see.
If you copy the "Dress" surface to the Skirt Trim and Top Trim surfaces, you'll get rid of those lighter areas, and it will all be the same dark red as the rest of the dress.
Just curious, did you render "as is" or did you apply the iray uber shader?
Thank you all. I am up now. That render was in Iray, with nothing done to the materials. They were loaded as is. I did apply the materials to the backdrop items, as they loaded white. The only products in the scene made for Iray are the character, hair, and candle.
It was after the lines showed up, I tried the iray uber shader @gitika1.
My references to 3DL was trying to see if the issue was something due to an Iray render and an attempt to see what happens when it rendered in 3DL. That turned into a black/white image, kind of cool, but totally not what I was after!
I had also tried different 'Lighting Model' since it loaded as 'Plastic' but that just showed the distinction between the top, belt, and skirt areas more distinctly by turning the black, red, or solid black overall.
I had also tried applying every dress material color to see what would happen. That is how I found that the pink dress also had those marks in a render like the red, but the black and white did not.
@vwrangler, I will try your suggestion "If you copy the "Dress" surface to the Skirt Trim and Top Trim surfaces, you'll get rid of those lighter areas, and it will all be the same dark red as the rest of the dress." when I am into my day and able to work on the computer. I really want to keep that lovely work done on the top surface.
Mary
First my thanks. After a lot of chores and then downloads and updates in DIM I was able to load the scene file. I looked at each element in the dress and found in Surfaces the Lighting Model was Plastic (dress) and Matte (trims). I changed everything to Matte and a test render the color turned to a dusty red color that is shown above in the trim. So I changed to Plastic in all sections and the deep red appeared as one solid color, except for that lovely decoration.
Taking the opportunity to make a few changes, like adding an Iray metal shader to the snowflake and red nail polish to Catty, I rendered again. I do want to try the dress with sleeves but I am not sure if it is able to simulate without disintergrating.
There are two products that I am looking at right now. The first is Spriteling for Giselle 6 and the second is Fluttery Wings for Genesis 2 Female(s). They are both cheap right now, but I'm wondering how the textures hold up in Iray after a simple uber conversion? I have looked at the images in the gallery and really can't tell. So if anyone has these and could quickly check for me, I would appreciate it.
If they don't hold up well, maybe I am better off waiting for something more recent to go on sale.
@certaintree38, I have both of them. Give me a bit.
Awesome, thanks a bunch.
@Certaintree38, This is very simple, Giselle 6 with the outfit and both wings, Dragonfly and Fancy Wings that are in Fluttery Wings, and Alieta Spryte Hair (which has Iray materials), the HDRI is PRO-Studio HDR Lighting System 01R. I used only default materials, except for the hair.
I took a snip of the memory usage.
Mary
Edit to add links, so others might see Iray affect on outfit and wings.
Thanks! These look pretty good, especially that dress. I think I will go for it.
Yes I was surprised at how lovely she was and especially the wings. I think I just filed them in my runtime and never used them until now.
Enjoy.
@Novica wishing you a Happy Belated Birthday! HOpe you had a fantastic day!
I have been MIA for at least a couple months here on Daz, ever since they changed bundles and sales and such I just lost my interest a bit. As well I found I was all about purchases new stuff and never using it so I have cut back to the point where I didn't even use May or June's coupons. Maybe I will find something for the July coupons??
I picked up a pair of sweet "little" pair of shoes during June. (Just getting around to testing the few things I purchased.) PreT Girls Strap Shoes for Genesis 8 Females I am very happy with the purchase. Not only did they work with G8, the youth morph, and Buggaboo with no issues, but also the shoes materials can be mixed and matched. . I glanced through the promo pictures, but assumed each was a specific material, rather than one of many possibilities.
Been playing around with some of the things I picked up over the recent sale, in particular the Translucent Fabric Shader.
Take a plane primitive 1.5 metres square with 100 subdivisions, apply the above shader, use a couple of image maps and dforce it over a suitable lady's head and you have an elegant veil:
Also on show in my gallery.
Wow, nice job! Thanks for showing it and how to do it.
