Smart Content  like friendly fire isn't

  • sueyasueya Posts: 832

Just thought I'd share this image which uses the new version of the Kalea 7 skin for Genesis 8.1 female and Faces of Africa for Genesis 3 Female which were converted to Genesis 8 using X-Transfer.

Very nice @sueya, and I think the outfit works very well. I can feel the hot night. (It helps that it is hot and sultry here also!)

I was curious and also read the Gou Luk thread in the Commons. I opened DIM and found that I have 7 Gou Luk Bundle files and with different dates and my product library shows only 5 zip files for download. That worried me that she might not work, but when I opened D|S and loaded her, no issues. I loaded the same outfit as @Rakuda used (I like it and it allowed for easier posing and I also found that the backpack is easy to move off her back and set next to her) and her hair. I chose Action Anime Poses and selected pose # 11. No issues with her body. I had to expand her pants as the knees had a touch of poke through. The hair had morphs to move it out of the right shoulder easily. I rendered it with just Render Studio 3 - HDR keeping it simple.

Render Studio 3 looks like PTF Neon Splash Lighting Suite which I use all the time.I love it's saturation and tint tools. A good set of HDRis definitely speed things up! Great renders! It is a pretty neat bundle and dynamic character and can't beat the price.

What Rakuda described, sounded like what happens to me when I have a pose pack that is for G3F/G8F and I accidentally use the G3F pose on a G8F character. The head slap I give myself and irritation that I know better drives me nuts.

I think I am bone-heaaded when nobody else seems to use SmartContent probably for good reasons it seems. That is probably all. I just figure it is an included panel, it should work...

@Rakuda, thank you. I enjoyed playing with this interesting character again.

I have been using Smart Content since I started but get frustrated because many files never make to it, but stay in the Content Library section or dumped in a mess by Daz when they create the metadata. For years I have seen folks talk about using their own file system in the Content Library but I could not 'see' it in my head, that is until this tutorial on Content Library came out from Ice Dragon Art. She is one of the wonderful folks on the forums who, like Novica, create tutorials or just share their knowledge here to help people learn DAZ Studio. In this case, she is a PA with a product.

I finally watched it this spring, and understood it immediately. But first I had to clean-up the mess caused by Daz Connect mixed into my DIM files. So I have been fixing my files since, getting ready to set-up my own file structure so I can find what I want, fast. Everyone learns differently, but this worked for me. Maybe this will help you as well?

Just a quick animation of Genesis 2 and then taken into Vegas Pro 16, combined with two videos from Particle Illusions and two sound bytes from my collection.

After the first render, I went back and applied some tattoos, LIE and makeups and changed hair color, to see if there was an issue. None. I may have a mixed up installation of old and new, but it works. I also checked her compatibility base.

I am posting both renders just to see. No where as wonderful as the ones that Rakuda showed. I really loved the style and work you put into them.

She is so cute!  I got her and Kayla in the catch up sale today.

I agree @spuffy. Her bundle is one of the best deals I have every bought. And a backpack that can be taken off the character and set down next to the character when they are in a chair or in class is important.

I just have one caveat, I do wish the thumbnails were easier to see what they represented. Dark on dark is hard to see. Add in old eyes, nightmare. This is not just this product, but others that come out. Very dark or too busy, or tiny, very tiny.

Back online. Denver lost Xfinity/Comcast just after 5:30 am today and only got it back after 11:40am. I had to use my cellphone as a hotspot. The weird thing is, I am still moving my external F: drive (4Tb) with my Daz content on my laptop to an external G: drive (8Tb) and it had slogged away for the past day and a half, until the net went down and now it is whipping through the files. I disconnected the laptop from the internet after it came back, just in case that was slowing it down.

Well I had been waiting this whole PC+ Extravaganza sale for about 16 products I had been wanting to go on sale & they finally did. I hadn't planned on buying FluidOS for DAZ Studio & the FluidOS Waves addon but I figured what the heck, why not? It all set me back another $96 for 18 products. Things are starting to round out though.

...speaking of FluidOS I am trying their example scenes but something has changed in the way the DAZ Studio iRay renderer is handling the shaders as the water is so clear as to not look like water at all really. Do any of you know what to changed for DAZ Studio 4.15.0.14?

The PA Albert helped me. Turns out the scenes supplied aren't complete. They must be simulated & then rendered. It's not as bad as dForce clothing simulations though!

I'm really missing the olden days when they actually used to update the readmes.

Leonard G8.1M/Torment has been updated five or six times in the past two weeks, with absolutely no indication as to why, or even that he was updated at all. It's not the issue that sometimes comes up where something gets stuck in DIM and they need to kick a server to dislodge it; there have been days when he wasn't there at all. But he's been there more often than not.

I didn't even know there was an issue with him, let alone five or six of them.

dForce Lighthouse Keeper has a nice coat. I was disappointed when I realized it didn't have an open morph, but I was able to use primitives along an animated timeline to dforce it open a decent amount. I like the pipe as well.

Here it is with some different shaders and after being dforced.

    Edited to re-add image.

@certaintree38, I think you may have deleted your attachment after you put it into the post body. when you do that, you completely delete the image from the page, and the only one who might be able to see it is you.

I got Message-Shirt-Magic for Genesis 8 Female(s) and Message-Shirt-Magic Camisole Plugin for Genesis 8 Female(s) today from PCFAD, and it is pretty cute. I was able to move the design above the "safe zone" just fine, and I feel like it will often look better there.  I think the biggest problem will be with larger chests. The dforce aspect is fine if you sim using an animated range and dial in the chest at the end. And the camisole at least dforces nicely. But big breast sizes could make the design hard to read.

There are a lot of included fonts and I like many of the presets that are included with the base product. I also really like the options to save textures at different resolutions. Not bad at all for $4 total.

BTW for the first time EVER, somehow I got unsubscribed from my own thread  :(      I wondered why it suddenly seemed so slow. You'd better check to see if the threads you are subscribed to are still in effect.

Can you believe we've had another Tropical Storm hit the US already? Bad sign for this season. First Claudette (Gulf Coast) now Danny (East Coast.)  UGH. And it's only June.

    Does anyone have the https://www.daz3d.com/the-water-mill-house

can the house part be easily removed? I’m curious about using it with just the water and trees and surrounds, for like a forest type setting for characters.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

I installed it to check (headed to bed so not going to render it) and you can just select in scene and remove it. The water effects, wheel are also one click. The vegetation is a bunch of instances and many will be floating in air (due to the hill slopes)  The water looks very pretty, even with just the default lights. The water just seems to go off into the distance, it's pretty IMO. :)    Goodnight!

    Thanks Novica laugh

is the house attached to the hill bit? Removing the house takes away the hill as well? (For any others that have it, I’ll let Novica sleep) laugh

From the "what's included" it looks like the house is a prop and the landscape is a separate prop. Seems like they would be separate, but ofc, this is speculation. But I'm going to buy it now and get back to you.
