Hey Ryverthorn, no you definitely aren't alone. I purchased Reality for DS last night and I have no serial listed either. The product itself is listed under the My Serial Numbers tab as Pret-A-3D_Reality2_5DS but no number next to it. I'll have to send in for support also and hopefully they can get it fixed. Thanks Pret for bringing it to Daz. I've been wanting to try it out for a little while now because I've seen some amazing results. Looking forward to trying it out when Daz gets the SN thing fixed.

If you had contacted me when people requested that feature we could have worked something up. This is the first time that I hear about it.
If you save the light setup in a scene, with the individual intensities set in Reality, that scene will have the settings saved. You can then merge that scene and the settings will be kept. That should work for your situation.
    Have you tried that approach?

Actually, InaneGlory did contact you in January 2012, by PM at the old forum, when we had an interest to provide LuxRender support via Reality to our first Photo Studio product. The reply was that no one had ever requested such a thing, but you would look into it for future updates. That is why I asked the original question on if it was yet possible to save light shader presets in the same way one can save a material preset.
The merging the scene files would work, but it detracts from the ease of use for the end user and is not an ideal solution.
Thank you for the responses. I am happy to support a wider user base, and in the interest of not derailing this thread, I shall contact you off list.

Just reading through the user guide and it's very inspirational! Seems quite user-friendly, so far...

Am I right in thinking a lightsabre can be created, by effectively creating a couple of cylindrical primitives in DS, place one inside the other, rename them both to 'RealityLight' and have Reality automatically treat them like the movie effect?

Also very impressed by the ability to select any surface on a model and 'convert to light'. If I'm interpreting this right, rooms can now have the lighting within them they were literally designed to have! And vehicles can have properly working headlights!

That is correct Xenomorphine (btw is there a Chest Bursterine in your family ;) ?)

We also have video tutorials in our YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/PretA3D

    Have a great weekend.

Just FYI, I placed a help ticket on this issue and I was informed that DAZ ran out of SN's. They're just waiting for more to be issued. Seems like people were really happy to see Reality on the DAZ store. That's gotta be some kind of record. A few days on sale and BAM! Gone! Looking forward to giving it a shot myself.

Ah ok thanks for the heads up Shades. I also sent in a help ticket but that was only a little while ago and figured I wouldn't hear back until Monday at the earliest. But that is good to hear that all it is is that they ran out and will be getting more. Ha ha no doubt 2-3 days and the SN's go ninja mode on us.

I have delivered a new, larger, batch to DAZ yesterday so I guess they are adding it to their cart and picking up the backlog as we speak.

    Cheers.

Really - wow. I just asked DAZ ro reverse my order and refund my money. Left a bad taste in my mouth. I hate having to trawl focurms etc to even try to work out how to install a product. Hopefully they will refund my money without question. I won't be bothering with Reality as a result.

I haven't bought anything Daz related in a long time and don't really do much rendering these days, but this tempted me to purchase. To say the lack of a serial number is frustrating is something of an understatement, especially as I actually have some time on my hands this weekend to have a play with it.

I always get this message when trying to use SLG. It tells me to configure in the output tab but I see no way to do anything but uncheck SLG options.

Did you configure Reality to point to the folder where LuxRender is installed? If so, what version of LuxRender are you using and what is the name of the SLG executable?

Let me first say that I'm sorry about this.

I delivered a new batch of serial numbers, a large one, to DAZ on Thursday, immediately after they told me that they ran out of them. It took me 5 minutes to do it and the batch was delivered around midday. Beyond that point I have no power.

I assume that it takes some time for DAZ to add the serials to their database but I am speculating here, I really don't know anything about their database and order system.

I do know that they will take care of their customers. It might be just a matter of finding the orders are going through the backlog. Unfortunately this event hit us on the verge of the weekend and I don't know if there is anybody at DAZ that is handling this during the weekend. I ask everybody to be patient, the issue will be resolved shortly.

I appreciate your patience and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Just wanted to add my name to the list of people without a serial number yet. I purchased Reality last night but have no sn listed under my account. Looking forward to checking out Reality once this is resolved.

Not a new buyer, but the re-release at DAZ inspired me to re-install my version with the latest update. However for some reason it does not open when called via the menu. I just see two small windows open and close (too fast to read anything) and then nothing. The log file says the following:

    DEBUG: 0: Toolkit found: C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4/scripts/Reality/RealityToolkit.dse
    DEBUG: 1: Toolkit included
    DEBUG: 2: Reality Toolkit v.2.0
WARNING: Unhandled error while executing DAZ Script.
WARNING: QScriptEngine::popContext() doesn't match with pushContext()

I am running DS 4.6.3.50 and Reality 2.5.1.122

    Any ideas?

The truth is I am not obsessed with getting photorealistic renders and have never liked Lux much due to the speed issues. I played with casual's Cycles plugin, it's good but the materials need a lot of tweaking within Blender and I am not knowledgeable in Blender so I havent committed to it. Buying Reality was an impulse for me, it was on sale and I thought "well, why not. It's a slow weekend so what the heck". Now I can't use it, when I do get the license I won't be able to use it for several days and I am hovering over the "give me back my money" button.

Might you also have the Octane plugin installed? There is a clash somewhere between that and Reality.

For me I like Reality and Luxrender a lot even more so now that I have a more up to date system..

    Before I had a:
    Core I7 920 2.6Ghz
    Intel DX58SO board
    12gig ram
    1.2gig 570GTX

And Lux would run slow and would take forever to get a decent picture..

    Now I have a:
    Core I7 2700K 3.5Ghz
    Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3 board
    8gig Kingston HyperX Ram
    1.2gig 570GTX

And Lux really cranks along and I can get a decent picture though depends on the scene in 30 mins to an hour ..
The picture below was at 1 hour 18 mins was watching TV while it rendered.. lol

The main reason I love Reality and Luxrender is that it is an awesome low cost solution for the hobbyist that does not require you to take out a second mortgage to pay the exorbitant price for Octane / Daz Studio plugin of 379 Euros = $546 AUD for beta software..

Hi not trying to add to any stress for Paolo :),
For new purchases and no serial number:
I guess the procedure would be to open a support case and quote your order number?
    ( I have done that).

    Thanks

If you want to use both there is an "easy" workaround without reinstalling etc.

    - Octane 1.2 works with Reality 2.5 installed and both active, so no problem there when using Octane.
    - When you want to use Reality 2.5, disable the Octane plug (Help -> About Installed plugins -> uncheck Octane).
    - Restart DS and Reality works.

If you want to use Octane again select it again in above mentioned menu and restart DS....
