I just downloaded the greebles generator through the DIM (two packages greeble generator and greeble generator for Daz ...)

Now I tried to find the greebles pane but it's not there, anything I should have done before? (tried to follow the manual there)

Check that you have a serial number or not, and put in a help request with DAZ.

We're all waiting for DAZ to issue serials.

I've been reading about that here, but I was never even asked for a serial number and didn't see where that need to be put

Top bar: Help -> About Installed Plugins - AB Greebles generator, right at the top

  • LinwellyLinwelly Posts: 5,947

Ah thanks found it, would probably good to add that to the manual pdf as step one (if this keeps being needed after DAZ had another look on it)

    I'm not amused devil
Greebles Generator for Daz Studio serial number is now available but activating Greebles deactivates FLUIDOS II for Daz Studio.
Activating Fluidos II deactivates Greebles and vice versa ... endless game ...

Would be great if DAZ staff could do things right in the first place and not always waste customer's time.

Edit: Using latest DS beta on Win10

    Sorry, its a bug.

I will sent the update, but in the meantime, you can download the fixed file.

    For Windows download this:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RaE2AlxOfKxWZ1GedXU4ry5I_g16oGUi/view?usp=sharing

    Instructions:

    1. Copy the file to your "\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\plugins" folder (in the disk you installed Daz Studio). Replace the old "abGreebles.dll" with the new one.

    2. Now you can register the Greebles Generator without interference with Fluidos.

    For macOS, download this file:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FclURjTL_jJavxOzxqun7fhlyQQGdI1O/view?usp=sharing

    Instructions:

    1. Copy the file to your "/Applications/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4 64-bit/plugins" folder (in the disk you installed Daz Studio). Replace the old "libabGreeblesGenerator.dylib" with the new one.

    2. Now you can register the Greebles Generator without interference with Fluidos.

so where did you get the serial number from?

The serial number is supposed to appear in your account - click on the blue person icon at the top right of the website, then select "My Account", then Serial Numbers is one of the large icons under your name, over on the right.

Gosh, that's embarassing, I knew that some time ago, I guess I'm using to few plugins. Thanks for the pointer!

Same Problem with Fluidos here, which is really frustrating, but on a brighter note, the AB Greebles is really cool! Here is a very quick test with some audio reactivity before going to bed yesterday ^^

Since I could easily re-install, I tried the fix for the registration and it does work for Fluidos 1 as well.

Yes, it works for me, too. Thanks.

The cube primitive after applying Greeble Generator looks more interesting, now.

    this is officially fun!

cone using only triangles to pop out , the ones at the top are really tyiny so i had to make the object large

Thanks for the quick fix last week! Both this and Fluidos work great for me now and I really like playing around with this!

Thanks, I will play more, when I will have a time for it.

So far has tried on different props, but the results was not that great to post images.

Uncheck the "Symetrical extrusion" button in the Greebles Pane and apply the plugin to the terrain and again to the first result.

The results depend on the number of polygons in the terrain; the more, the better.

I used this terrain in the promo: https://www.daz3d.com/around-the-campfire

    Thanks for the tips.

Have you tried to use dForce on the extruded objects made with Greebles Generator?

No, I didn't. I don't have much experience on dForce.

Quick question: I guess it's a long shot, but would it be possible to make an option to keep the morphs for the newly generated object, so that if we greeble a greeble object, we get two greeble morphs for the third object? :D That would be really awesome for animations! In any case, using this a lot already!

    Hi!

No, it's not possible because the second extrusion (the greeble of the greeble object) creates more vertices, and the morphs need the same number of vertices, thus the first morph is lost.

Buy you can use both greeble objects in the same animation. For example, set invisible the second greeble, animate the morph of the first one for some frames. Then, commute to the second greeble and animate its morph.

Thanks, that is a good idea! But for automatic audio-reactivity, it's sadly not a full solution. Ideally, one could make the first greeble-morph react to the kickdrum and the second react to the snare of a track, or something similar. I have to think more about how to do that without too much manual work ^^

I have seen such assets available for Unity and you will get real time response, when using game engine.

Thanks for the suggestion! Audio reactivity is possible in many other programs, including Blender, but I really like Iray and the other options and scripts available for Daz. I have to ask though - could you point me into the right direction for audio-reactive greeble-like assets or similar for Unity? Very interested to at least check it out!

Ok, I will try to find something. I have seen a couple of packages for audio-reactive thing, not so sure about greeble.

Will try to import to Unity some greeble creation from Daz Studio and see what I can do.

I have experimented with grass creation, using the plane primitive with 256 divisions.

Then I have applied dForce modifier to the greeble and run simulation on it.

The results after simulation are not that different from the unsimulated one, but they add some quality to the scene.

I have still to adjust the width of the greebles, but the initial results are very promising.
