Again, nice characters, Sigurd, I thought your first attempt was pretty good, but the second attempt with a more compliant skin is definitely another improvement. I have only just started messing around with this engine, I do like it for work flow, but then have to go fix all the settings prior to actual rendering. I definitely think it will make animation a lot more fun and faster! Only thing is the ground shadows are sadly lacking at the moment. Seen some early animations with ground shadows working, but haven't worked out how to do it reliably yet. Man, I go out on work for a week, and a new Render engine shows up. Crazy! TD
Last I heard, he was still hurting as a result of...I believe it was his wife's death? Not a 100% I remember correctly right off the cuff.
I also hope that DMaster is okay, or at least as well as can be expected so soon after his wife's passing. When he feels up to getting back into the forums, I'm sure he will. :) 5 years ago my younger brother died from heart problems, my dad passed away 2 years ago, and my best friend was killed in a terrible car accident this past June. A loved one passing not only takes a high emotional toll on the survivors, but also demands a lot of time devoted to taking care of the estate, etc. Even if DMaster doesn't return here, I am grateful for his contributions to the hobby I love. :)
Lee
Exactly. But for what it's worth, I have heard that D.Master is working on some new products. We just have to give him time to heal and our support.
Boy, I know what you're saying, Lee. I lost my Scarlett at the end of May, 2019, and I still have not recovered. Now, she was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and you might think I'm crazy to still be grieving for a dog, but I'm going through sleeplessness, anger, tears, grief, etc.
I'm not sure if anyone has tried using AME on Leyna, so I gave it a go. AME Body set to 50%, AME Flex Size 50%, AME Muscle Definition 100%, and AME Veins 50%. Snuck in my starter morph parameters, but dialed out Cartoonized. Her outfit is one for G8F and autofitted.
Render straight out of DAZ Studio with none of my usual contrast/tone enhancements.
Leyna for Genesiis 8 Male might be of use for those wanting a quick way to get AME abilities on a female character without a lot of effort. :)
Here's the store link for Leyna:

So sorry to hear about your dear Scarlett passing away. There's no shame in carrying the emotions of losing her. I cried for a long time when we put down our cat some years ago. My brother and his husband have 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Annabelle and Louie. Such sweet dogs, so I know how fond of Scarlett you are. Big hugs to you my friend!
Lee
Just for fun, here's Leyna for G8M using CC Jack for Holt's textures.
As rendered from DS, same figure settings as my earlier Leyna post, just different texture set and some minor lighting adjustments.

I lost my Father October 6 to Alzheimer's. I was honored to care for him in my home for the last 6 years of his life. Although it was time for him to go, his passing left a huge hole in mine and my family's life. I am sure that losing a spouse is immeasurably worse than losing a parent, even one who was such a large part of our family, I am only mentioning this to say I fully understand the need to grieve in whatever way you feel necessary. Remember the good times and try not to dwell on the bad.
My heartfelt condolences to you and your family, Sigurd. It is truly an honor to take care of a loved one when they need it most. Though they leave a void in our lives, the memories they've created with us help ease us through grief. I still laugh about all the fun things my brother, father, and best friend did with me. Sending you uplifting thoughts, Sigurd!
Lee
Lost my father in January, D.Master, thoughts and prayers to you.
That's actually a great idea. However, is there a product that allows the use of female genitalia on a G8M-based character for situations such as studio nudes? If so, your idea would have even more merit. Thanks for this suggestion!
Condolences to you and your family, Terry. I hope you are all doing well after your loss.
Lee
Thank you, RenderPretender. I would suspect that there are such products on more mature themed 3D websites. Let us know if you find something that works!
Lee
Most-Digital-Creations has a very nice (to this day) V4 prop and textures called Anatomically Correct that can work convincingly with some tweaking. I was hoping for a geograft, though, of female gens for G8M. Still no luck. I'm still deciding whether to buy the G8M versions of ASE and AME and the other tools I'd need to start working with G8M in the absence of the G8F version. That could get pretty pricey just to achieve a realistic split bicep.
There are products that you're looking for that use geografts for G8M. You'll find those in another 3D marketplace that's adult oriented. Perhaps one of those products will work? I'm sort of tempted to try one out and see how Leyna, AME/ASE, and the geograft anatomy work together.
Lee
I've found geograft gens for G8F, but not G8M. Perhaps my search phrase construction in that store's engine is leading me down a blind alley.
For all that are interested, here is where to find the Transgender morphs I have been using. Then you layer over the G8F body and face character (using the Transfer Utility) on top of it. Be sure to ERC Freeze each ported property individually, then save as a morph asset. Additionally you will need the Genesis 8 UV swap by SloshWerks to get G8F textures correctly onto the G8M.
I have found the Golden Palace for Genesis 8 Male to work reliably.
Hope that helps, TD.
terry_duquette, "Wow"! Younger Lara is one of the best fitness models I have ever seen!
leemoon thank you for your condolences. It is a relief to know that he he is restored to physical and mental health but his passing did leave a Grand Canyon size hole in our life.
Here is me still trying to find the right skin shade in Filament. Trying to work out something in quality to Iray but failing miserably. If anyone has figured this out please share.
Thank you.
Thanks Sigurd! Meant to post this pic, with an expression and the backpack fix. Regarding Filament, my investigations have shown that the settings are highly dependent on the SSS settings. Some 3Delight textures look better in Filament! Also I haven't found any universal setting that works either. Overall I like it during workflow, but it is definetley a lower resolution renderer. However it makes animations a whole lot more fun and way faster to see an outcome. If somebody comes up with some settings that work I would love to see them also.
Thanks again,
TD.
Wow terry_duquette, even better.
SF Skins. Ultra Light base Ultra Light Skin Shade no Tint.
Thanks for all of this info, terry. Not sure I understand the ins and outs of your techniques, but all that work shows in your results. I was just about to pull the trigger on the gens you recommended, but by the time I calculated the cost of everything else I'd need in addition to G8M AME/ASE, such as G8M head morphs, muscle morphs, etc., it just seems like a really costly endeavor to get a good split bicep. I almost wonder if something satisfactory might be achieved with some sort of custom displacement map made from an anatomically authentic musculature map. By my calculations, by the time I'd be done with a G8M-based AME/ASE-enhanced female, I'd have dumped close to $100 into the effort.
I mentioned this character a short while back. This is the one I wanted to age up the face, but retain the bone structure of the head/shape. Here's what I have so far and I think this one will be the final(?) version of him.
He's mostly a 50/50 mix of Armand and Yuji (from another marketplace) with sprinkles of Swole, Brute, etc. dialed in. AME Body is at 35%. He's a much leaner, though still athletic, physique than my other recent renders.
Lee
Terry and Sigurd, you both continue to impress with your images!
They are outstanding. I like your new Filament test, Sigurd. The warmer skin tones look great!
Lee
I understand completely. Just so you know, using Mesh Grabber, D-Former, Node Weight Map Brush and the Export Morph tools I created a poor rendition of a split bicep (also a mirror one for the right arm). Gives the illusion if the lighting and pose are carefully chosen. I am not a sculptor, and the alignment is limited for me by the base figure Mesh. This is about my 6th attempt at it. Powerful tools in DAZ for sure, but not really meant for this level of sculpting! I am still holding out hope for the G8F version also, but making do the best I can in the meantime. It is an adventure of discovery! This quick render is the Baseline G8F with only HD Musculature morphs applied and my morph at 60%.
Sigurd, I like that you can finally see some color in the clothing. Often the clothes get washed out trying to get the skin to look right. May have to pick up that SF skin.
Thanks all, TD
Just WOW!
TD
That's really clever, terry! And it's a nice result. I don't recall ever having tried that. I have used a SimTenero product to try to "implant" spheres under the model's skin to simulate each head of the bicep, but I could never achieve a convincing degree of separation. Big props to D Master for pulling this off in the G8M version, and to you for your ingenious adaptation of G8F morphs to the male platform.
Thank you so very much, Terry!
Lee
I entered a version of "Armand Yuji" in the It's Raining Men contest.
I upped the image dimensions to 2036 x 2880 (W x H) pixels. Also rendered at SubD level 4 and turned down the vascularity morph I was using to give a more subtle look. Deleted one of the 3 ghost lights (behind the head) since it didn't contribute much to the hair backlighting. The rest used the same settings as from my earlier render. This took about 13 minutes to render in Iray on my MacBook Pro 8-core i9 in CPU only mode.
