    Fine.  Just let us know before you drop the idea of other prop convertors entirely... you might be surprised to find that some of us are willing pay a much higher price tag than the going DAZ rates.

    Oh, I want to continue them, though the posing (required for good conversion of props) gets significantly more challenging the farther back you go.

    is it normal for it to be slow? I don't have a slouch of a system by any means, but a normal-sized pose pack takes about 30min to complete. I dumped one in last night before bed that had over 900 lines and it's still running almost 19hrs later. My system specs are Ryzen 7 1800x w/ 32GB RAM and 1080TI.

    DS seems to get slower the more morphs you add to a figure; I don't know if it affects posing but it does affect loading G8F.  If you temporarily rename all those character conversion morphs to a new path, from data/Daz 3D/Genesis 8/Female/Morphs to data/Daz 3D/Genesis 8/Female/OldMorphs, G8F will load faster.  That might help with your pose conversion.

    So I'm hitting this performance issue with converting poses as well, and it feels to me like it's a bug. It *seems* like props convert much faster than poses, although I haven't measured the former, only the latter.

    I went through all my content directories and renamed Female to Femalex for all of Genesis 8 and most of Genesis 3, and added a new content directory with just the very minimum needed to load G3F and G8F without warnings.

    (Please Forgive the wonky formatting, but the preview and the actual post didn't match at all and I had to do a lot of tweaking just to get it readable.)

    Load times for G3F and G8F:

    In this log it looks like all of the time is between printing "DEBUG: Saved Item:" and "Zeroing Genesis 8". If tenses are consistent, "saved" happens after saving and "zeroing" happens before zeroing, so I'm not sure what's going on in between. Or maybe "Saved item" is before it saves and it's actually the save somehow taking 3.5 minutes. (I checked, just in case; saving a pose manually takes under a second, and zeroing g8 female pose is near instant.)

    There's another bug here which I'll report in a separate message for clarity.

    There's a bug in how new filenames are generated.

    In the above example, the input filename is:

    "D:/daz/main/People/Genesis 3 Female/Poses/Simply Everyday/Poses/Genesis 3 Female/Simply Everyday Female Base 01.duf"

    but the output filename is

    "D:/daz/conversion3/People/Genesis 8 Female/Poses/Genesis 3 Female/Simply Everyday Female Base 01.duf"

    Note that in the original, "Genesis 3 Female" and "Poses" both appear twice.

    In the output, the folder name "Simply Everyday" and one of the "Poses" has been lost.

    I realize this is non-trivial in this particular case, but I intentionally chose a product sold as a "DAZ Original" as something that one would expect should work. The wonkiness here is presumably because "Poses" appears again in the folder name. It seems like you're finding the rightmost occurrence of "Poses" rather than the leftmost. Of course the leftmost could break if the content directory itself has "/poses/" in it somewhere, which is not impossible. It feels like the RIGHT way to do this is to actually scan the list of content directories and match that to the filename so that you know what the true relative path from the content directory is, but if that's impossible or just too much work I think doing a match (either leftmost or rightmost) on "People/Genesis 3 Female/Poses" [and similar variants for other types] would be a lot safer than a rightmost match for "Poses".

    The delay is because I am updating the metadata.  When you save something in scripting you are supposed to be able to set what it is compatible with and set its compatibility base. There was a bug pre4.12 that doesn't allow you to do both at the same time. There is a function to set this stuff but it is slow.  I was told by Daz to use it as a workaround that made the code work pre-v4.12 "but won't mess anything up once the bug is fixed."  Supposedly, I could remove it now but I have seen this bug rear its head in other situations even just this week so I am reluctant to do so.

    The problem is every PA does something different, especially years ago.  It would be wonderful to match a relative path, but I can't see doing so.  Poses can be in People/.../Poses, in Environments/.../Poses, etc.  The standard, that Daz recommends but does not enforce, is that it should be in People/Genesis 3 Female/Poses/Vendor/Product/My Pose.duf.  You can always cut and paste within the Content Library in Daz afterwards.

    This is a really good idea, but my point was that things are put all over the place.  There is no guarantee that 'Genesis 3 Female' is even in the path.  DAZ installs there, but users can sometimes organize their libraries differently. Searching for Poses is MUCH safer.

    Could you post the full log of the conversion?  Something went wrong but it is hard to tell from this.

  • If you can wait a bit, I will run it again.  It looks like the script detected that the weapon was a wearable instead of a prop but it's hard to tell.  I have an appointment soon.  After I will try to convert again.

  • I think this part is the most important.  It converted the poses for the weapons, though.

    Ok, this is weird.  The script loads the DrakShade Sai LH, but what it finds is something called OctaneRender Scene Data?  I don't do Octane but I wonder if it puts something in the scene?  When I run on the same item, the script finds the weapon and everything is different after that:

  • I do have Octane for Daz Studio installed on my computer.  But Octane has never been an issue before with your clothing and poses converters.  Hmmm, I will try to disable it and see what happens.  I will let you know.

    re:   Spark?  Maybe.  But I still have to get G3M to G8M released first, and I got really busy with a "may not be able to sell it but I want it myself" project.

    I sure hope that new project is the "universal" content_packager/metadata_inserter that you teased us with in a recent (YT?) video??  I am dying to have something like this...  The comment about "may not be able to sell" does concern me though....  ;-(

    I find myself visiting your DAZ store and this thread every day to look for any updates on the V4 version. It would breathe a second life to a lot of beloved stuff in my runtime.

    LOL.  Message received.  However, I usually go down the generations, and especially with this one where the pose conversion will get more challenging as I go further back (good pose conversion is necessary for good prop conversion).

    I'm just saying but given the dominance of folks in this thread asking for a V4 to G8F version, you could always get the hardest one out of the way next, making your life 'easier' after that. Not that I'm hinting at you to do anything out of order. cheeky  Pwetty please, with sugar on top.wink
