I only just saw this and was thinking "awesome, I can make any outfit I want for characters now" but then I also got to thinking, you said these were UV mapped already but doesn't that disappear when you start adding and deleting faces in Hex? Maybe I'm wrong and it only loses the UV when you decimate or average weld...
The suits are built so that instead of decimating, you can remove plenty of loops.
What about removing edge loops?
When removing edge loops only, in blender (maybe it is the same in hex), you keep the UVs, with no holes.
What about adding faces?
And for the UV, and if you add faces in your mesh, anyway you keep the ones already included, and then, you need to make the UV only for the faces you added. You don't have to make all the UVs. Only the ones for the mesh you add.
This is why they are provided with UVs. They are here to make a part of the job for you. But they cannot make the whole job ;)
Save often and keep checking the UV by putting up side by side views, a lot of things don't delete the mapping, some things do. Sometimes you think it will but it won't.. it's Hexagon.. LOL If you need to draw in extra lines (press X, hold shift to snap to existing point or center of a line, or hover over a line without shift to put it where you want) you can usually get away with that without losing the UVs, then select the faces you don't need and delete.

I'll have to learn what "edge looping" is apparently lol
;)

In general you won't delete the edge loop (or it makes a hole) but dissolve it. (there is probably an edge dissolve somewhere!
