Hexagon Tutorial List
Looks like we lost this in the new forum software, so let's get this list going again. Maybe a mod could sticky this?? If EZ and CG Creams don't come around, I have many of their links as well, I just have to dig them out.
Johnny Bevo, get in here! (Johnny has some great tutes)
Geek at play has some great tutes, around 100 of them at last count

Hey Hiker
I am back.
I am not ready to start recording tuts again yet, but hope to get back at it soon.
I am no longer using windows at all.
Made the switch over to Linux.
Getting set up to do everything a real learning experience.
Got Hexagon installed today. Starting to test out some recording software.
Still have to install a video editor and converter.
I will start dropping in more often.
Thanks for the good comments

I hope to be adding more very soon.
Is there any tutorial that helps a misinformed artist (my kingdom is filled with ignorant bigots) to aid with tiling textures.
Example: My castle has a road 10x100 in the front. I'd like to make a texture 10x10 and repeatedly place it along the road, at least 10 more times. It will have my face, you see, so my peasants know who their king is.
Exploring this tool Hexagon proves to be a bit overwhelming, you see...
It should be noted that you may not be able to access all of the tutorials that are held on the old DAZ 3D server.
E.G. The first one on the artzone list 'hexagon basics ' returns a '404: page not found' error.
Others bring up the correct page but images may not show since their links will be pointing to a page that is no longer valid.
For beginners to hexagon, like me, a tutorial without images is like an hourglass without sand. You can see the outline but you're missing the important bit.
Regards, Chris.

Since Hex does not render, it is not very efficient to think tiling textures in Hex but in the app you plan to use to render the scene.
What app would that be? What kind of help do you need? Ask a more specific question(s).

Would like to let all know that I just found that the A Simple Dress Video tutorials by Jen Greenlees are now on YouTube I just came across them searching for some other tutorials and wanted to share that they are viewable again on YouTube. These were the first Hexagon tutorials that helped me really learn and come to enjoy using Hexagon hope they help teach others as well

:cheese:
Not sure where my basic Hexagon tutorials are I did for the PoserPros Hexagon forum I moderated quite a while a go now, but if I can dig them up from whatever old hard drive they are on and find a place to post them (free) I will make them available again.
Great thread...many thanks for sharing.....
Do you happen to know it the videos from the pdf manual are around anywhere on the web? Art Zone is totally dead on that stuff. It's a shame. That stuff didn't take up a whole lot of storage space. But now everyone getting the manual gets broken links. Too bad - I heard it was a nice feature.
Edit...
Hey many thanks for this awesome thread. Very helpful and thoughtful of you.
Hi Dartenbeck:)
Way back when I had access to the vieo's - believe me, they were nothing much, although i do miss the cute French accent:)
Thanks Roygee :smirk:
Good to know - now I'm far less bummed out!
what set of tutorials will help a total noob
like...I can't even figure out how to work any of these tool...let alone even rotate my item to get a back view of it.
I can't even figure out blender...getting a decent view of my object in that program is a task and a half, I move it, it goes out of sight.
The viewing is awful in these program. I rotate in blender it goes counter clock wise, it doesn't turn around or anything
Try this Navigating in Hexagon a Gary Miller tutorial, it will help.
Anymore?
Like...there is a youtube ch with someone doing videos to all the blender features. I seriously need all the video help I can get a hold of
Just to make sure we don't lose it - CGDreams Hexagon Tutorials.

My Flash video tut on how to clone with symmetry:

I tried to upload this one to Youtube, but Youtube's video converter makes it run so fast as to be useless.
\Thanks I look forward to trying that out
You're welcome. They're not elaborate tutorials, but quick down-and-dirty tuts that I had made in response to specific requests.
Vladimir Chopine from GeekAtPlay has put all of their Hexagon tutorial videos up on YouTube.

JohnnyBevo's Hex tutorials rock... Does anyone know if he posted part 4 of modeling a 3D house on youtube?

Talking about Geekatplay anyone know what happened to Gary Miller. He seems to be MIA... I really enjoy his teaching style...
You're right about his style, a very skillful teacher. If I remember rightly he moved on to Cinema4D, its not the same without him :(
Not sure if anyone has seen this set of tutorials on making a tanktop -

Excuse me, but I've got the same question. I'm just reading the manual to Hexagon from here - http://docs.daz3d.com/lib/exe/fetch.php/public/software/hexagon/2/userguide/hexagon_manual_us.pdf and links to the. mov files are broken. I have Adobe Acrobat 7 and Quick Time 6.5 installed. Which version of Acrobat Reader is this manual for and how to view these videos with Quick Time, if Acrobat cannot open them on clicking automatically? (For some other embedded movies in PDFs it worked fine for me before).
