32nd Daz3D Bryce Render challenge
-
-
Now Sponsored by Daz 3D
-
-
Theme for this challenge is ### "In The Dark Of The Night" ###
-
Another theme with so many different interpretations
It can just be nighttime, it can be scary, or spooky full of ghosts or things that go bump in the night. Or it can be a nice starry starry night, or nights can be romantic.
The Choice is yours
Your imagination is the only limit
This thread is the WIP thread, so you can post here to show us how things are coming along before the render is transferred to the actual Contest thread for judging. You don't have to do that.we collect up all the finished ones and make the thread, with each render given a number and title, but no artist name shown, so it's a blind judging thread for the judging panel.
Rules
Please don't post your entry renders anywhere else until after the Challenge is judged, as judging is done in a blind judging thread, so the Judges don't know who has done which image.
Challenge ends Nov 30th 2018:- Midnight DAZ 3D time.

Don't think I've ever been first to submit... Haven't been around to participate recently so while I'm here, I'll drop this one off.
Title: Dragon In The Shadows
Daz's Millenium Dragon & David & Horo's candle from a Christmas freebie years ago.
Lit entirely by a sphere light placed in the candle flame and set to 'Ranged' with shadows softened.
Dave Savage : awesome lighting, outstanding image.
Outstanding Dave, really.
Wow Dave magnificent work, truly awesome
That sets the bar, Dave...Daenerys will be jealous
Jay
_well, done_
Dave... a wonderful image and really outstanding light.
Thanks everyone...
Jay: I had to Google that one.
Wow Dave... Elegant image
Nice one Dave, good start.
Very well done
waow, good start and very well done
Fantastic Dave!
WOW, Dave, cool idea and well done!
My first Entry:
Go to Wallhalla
I could use Dave's wonderful moon right here. I have partially made it transparent to him, so that he better integrated into the sky. Thanks again.
drachenlords - very beautufully done.
Drachenlords: That's another very fine render. Amazing how realistic you made the fire look!
Very convincing fire.
Thanks for the comments everyone.
Drachenlords: Great, and that fire is excellent.
Thank you all for the nice comments.
The fire is a combination of the Pro Mats, my own mat and two 2D Planes with a fire picture standing in the boat.
On the sail, i created an alpha map for the holes in Photoshop and an ambience map with the flames, before assigning it to Mat as the sail in Bryce. In addition two Spheres with fire mat on the sail and it looked quite good.
drachenlords, an outstanding work of art!
Drachenlords - real magic, awesome work
Thanks Slepalex and Mermaid.
drachenlords : really superb image and the fire ..... well as everyone said : very realistic.
Very nice drachenlords.
Reminds me of the 1958 Vikings film with Tony Curtis and Kirk Douglas.
Watched it when I was about 8 or 9, and I cried when they sent the ship out and set it on fire.
Now, that's a send-off, Drachenlords
I remember that film, Stuart...especially when Douglas, who usually did his own stunts, did a dance across the oars - (YouTube link). Tom Cruise would be jealous .
Jay
drachenlords : Outstanding
The Vikings 1958 _always liked that one
Yeah, good film, probably one of the first films I watched all the way through at that age.
Drachenlords - really perfect
waow Drachenlord, very nice.
