    Hi Y'all:)

Good to see all the old usual suspects still posting here.

This is my first model in about three years.  I've been concentrating on photography and suddenly had the urge to include a modell in a photo.  This is supposed to be a Lockheed F104A Starfighter.

Just slapped on a metalic procedural shader to check for dings - so far, so good.  My memory fails me - can someone give me a quick hint on how to add some markings on top of a procedural shader?

Wendy, glad you are feeling better.  Great discovery.  I hope to experiment some when I'm done traveling.

Speaking of traveling, got my hotel room changed so I have internet today.  Yay!  One more day in Denver area, then back to traveling.  Here is another pic taken from the train, this time in a canyon in Colorado.  This tree has a bald eagle nest and one of the birds is perched on a nearby branch.  You will have to zoom at full size.  I was across the river so it is pretty small.

looks like a great trip you're on there

lot's of things to see to get the Carrara juices pumping yes

The goal of an artist is to capture the interest of the greatest number of people, and you got there.

    Congratulation Wendy!

You may have heard that last Saturday was the 50th anniversay of the moon landing.  Here in Houston, all kinds of special activities ("Houston, Tranquility base here, the Eagle has landed")  Jimmy Fallon credits Ray Romano with a great routine about men who sneak off to hobbies without telling their families.  He mimics Neil Armstrong's mother watching the moon landing, squinting at the TV, saying "Is that Neil?"

Congrats, Wendy.  You are still my hero!

Hello, Roy!  Be curious if you have feedback on the new Hexagon beta, the new Blender interface, or any other modeling-related ventures.  Cool spaceship.

Great time to be in Houston, Steve.  Cool story.  Would be interested in any other tidbits.

"The Astros are, fittingly enough, hosting a party on July 22 to honor the day. They will have a replica statue of Neil Armstrong's space suit in center field, along with a NASA Mobile Exhibit and Space Exploration Vehicle to check out on the Plaza. Neil's son, Rick, will also be on hand to throw out the first pitch ... But the best part has to be these ballcaps, which they'll be wearing for the game. Yeah, they'll be playing under the Apollo 11 logo. (Fun fact: "11" was supposed to be spelled out as 'Eleven,' but Armstrong didn't like it because it would be harder for non-English speaking people to read it.) ... "

Great idea for the Astros.  Love the Ray Romano comedy story.  I remember a book by a Miami Herald writer called Dave Barry’s Guide to Guys.  Barry’s routine is that MEN are stoic, Spartan, brave, and reserved.   On the other hand, GUYS are just little kids that like toys with lots of parts, that make lots of noise, and that bounce or fly over lots of stuff or that catch on fire.  According to Dave Barry, the early NASA days were GUY heaven.

One of my college roommates works with NASA at the Johnson Space Center.  I can attest that the nerdy tech folks like him have more GUY (or GAL) in them than MAN (or WOMAN).

Tomorrow, I pass through Chicago on my way to DC. A lot of time on buses and trains.

It is hard staying in the Carrara forum when such intriguing stuff is happening elsewhere

but whether it works in Carrara even remains to be seen even if I can afford it

this is what is reflected in the mirror but side on and populated and with an acrobat on a swing and some big basket shaped chandeliers, I am not sure I can model that!

  • DesertDudeDesertDude Posts: 1,235

I have great confidence in you Wendy, I'm sure you can pull it off. Ambitious project!

  • UnifiedBrainUnifiedBrain Posts: 3,588

Aslan Theater might get you started, since it looks like you don't need the upper deck.

The chandeliers sound like a doable spline modeler project.

All this is easy for me to say, of course. :)

that set has always been missing files for me, am trying to manually download and locate them

    the Poser version

the DAZ studio one makes Carrara go wonky

am getting it to load using Everything to locate files

    textures under Toxic Angel

    geometries under Aslan court 3

gave up as too much stonework need more crowd so went for simpler replication

that mirror and reflection is physically impossible though

I will add top hat guy and other people in rows of seats this side too eventually

Heck of a photo of NASA's Vertical Assembly building.  I'm wondering how this picture was made - panoramic camera feature on a drone?  And where was the photographer standing?

Yeah, ManStan really pissed her off when she was helping with Carrara Cafe. It was a sad loss. She had a lot of knowledge.

I was using the DAZ studio iray this time so have a logfile that tells me nothing other than it kept happily rendering using the GPU, did 64 images over an hour before I killed the computer at the power on switch just no signal to the monitors.
