Thanks a lot to everyone for your greetings on my last picture!
@Horo : nice touch of vegetation on your verdent hills, you're on the right way for populating! Congratulation for your entry at Daz gallery, something very very hard for brycers (I think). I mean, I have put some of my renders at cornucopia3d.com which is a Vue Gallery and have already won some price even if I have publish my bryce works. Also, I must admit that cornucopia3d have less artists publications than daz gallery.
@slepalex : remarkable bryce landscape renders. Your work with vegetation is impeccable.
@Hansmar : very nice landscape including your magnolia trees, one of your best I think. Did you know that you're not the only one making remark about my character? One of my viewers at deviantart have made the same. However, this character is at the perfect scale compare to the trees, I have made the comparison and a render with it closed to the camera in my scene and it fits perfectly to the global scale.
Jamahoney: Ah, I see. And I understand. Due to the many leaves (of trees and bushes) it looses some focus. And thanks for the nice words on the Mars/Organodron.
Electro-Elvis: She certainly looks very happy! Well done.
adbc: Thank you.
Horo: Congrats on your 'top images' entry!
c-ram: You must be right. There is something, apparently, taking us off guard.
Hansmar- I love your idea with the Organodron City
Horo- thanks. Your new render of the Organodron city is awesome, love the addition of the rocket. Congrats to your picture in the Daz3D Top Recent Images Gallery.
Electro-Elvis – very nice image, I love her smile.
Another version of my tree-truck vase.
c-ram - thank you Marco. I'm happy for every Bryce image that makes it to the Top Recent Images, this is good advertisement. Angel Estevez is regularly featured, but he's a true artist. Now Drachenlords also made it and that's super cool.
Hansmar - thank you. It's more luck than anything else. My last one that made it 11 months ago came to 28 and was removed after 2 days to make room for Studio images rated 22.
Mermaid - thank you. Very nice tree-truck vase image. The three flowers are a nice addition; these must be plastic flowers otherwise the leaves were bent. Perhaps just zoom in the flowers in the vase and make it portrait would yet improve it.
Thanks Horo, the 3 flowers are xFrog freebies.I'll give your suggestion a try.
Mermaid : nice tree-truck vase. Horo is right though.
Mermaid: Thanks. And the tree-trunk (I assume) vase is a great idea. I agree that closer-up would probably even be nicer.
And congrats to Drachenlords for his top-render!
Here are plants, all Bryce trees: the plants in the pot, the moss in the pot, the grass and the stones. The scene is embedded in an HDRI backdrop with separate DOF setting, rendered with DOF (focus pot centre, radius 0.035). Ambient light by the HDRI and the key light by the sun.
I continue the theme of roads and footpaths.
One more landscape. Description here.
Horo : nice pot full of plants, great texture on the leaves.
For this image I used the Eastern Ancient Castle from Herminio Nieves.
Thanks Adbc and Hansmar
Horo- interesting render, I like the grass and also the texture on the leaves.
Slepalex – each render compliments the other, beautiful outstanding work.
Adbc – wow beautiful render. Herminio Nieves is very generous with his work giving away lovely models.
A simple landscape using terrains from David and Horo’s Terrain stacking product and the sky is from their Sky Toolbox both are available at https://www.bryce-tutorials.info/shop/
Slepalex - beautiful open landscape with the tractor tracks.
adbc - thank you. Very nice render with the ancient castle.
mermaid - thank you. Very nice landscape under a cloudy sky. It may start to rain any time soon or it has just finished.
Again that pot with the Bryce trees but a bit modified since the roots poking through are not covered by grass. Light and backdrop from a specular convolved HDRI. No ground plane. The pot stands on a transparent shadow catcher sandwich (positive and negative hypertexture) which was made partly reflecting.
Slepalex : another great landscape, roads, footpaths .... wow, I tried that kind of landscape several times but not even worth posting.
mermaid : thank you. Nice landscape, I like the cloudy sky
Horo : Thanks. I think I like the background of the last pot better, don't know why, looks brighter to me.
Horo: Nice pot of plants. I prefer the second render, because the plants are more contrasted to the background.
Slepalex: Another marvelous landscape render: very well done!
adbc: Interesting, though for me the castle is a bit lost in the busy landscape. Love the dark sky, though.
Mermaid: Not too complicated, but very nice landscape. Looks like there is a drizzle going.
Hansmar : thank you. I agree about the castle.
Thanks Horo, Adbc and Hansmar.
Horo - the still is beautiful, nice lighting.
I reworked the scene with the castle.
Horo, the second option I like more.
adbc, I see a great contrast between the majestic castle and the toy mountains. The scale does not correspond to the real one.
You shoot mountains on the camera from the height of the aircraft, and the castle - from a bird's eye view.
adbc - thank you. Although I like the second version better, I think Slepalex has a point here. Additionally, it may be that the colour choices are a bit unfortunate. Building and landscape are very similar and there is no focus on the castle.
Hansmar, mermaid and Slepalex - thank you.
Very nice all...too many to comment on.
Jay
PS. A heads-up to those on Win 10 - for the last week, since getting a forced WIN 10 UPDATE, my desktop screen went in to a continuous looping process (that is, every 10 seconds or so, the desktop and all its software icons etc., would continually refresh - what a nightmare). Tried everything to get out of it, and nothing worked (I could get in to SAFE MODE okay, which stopped the looping) - apparently this 'looping' issue is a problem with Win 10 updates. After several days trying to fix it (out of Safe Mode), the 10-second intervals eventually started getting shorter and shorter, until, finally, just 10 minutes ago, the looping stopped...phew (better make a System Restore point right now). Hope you Win 10-ers out there will never have to go through this.
Slepalex & Horo : I appreciate your comments and you're both right.
I did something about the "toy" mountains and the contrast terrain/castle, tried with the original sky, it did'nt work out, I changed the sky as well.
@slepalex : nice country path with a lot of vegetation. I'm alway amazed by the way you're using Bryce trees to compose your images.
@Mernaid : nice greenscape stacked terrains.
@Adbc : good looking castle surround by surreal mountains.
Another render going to winter slowly. Vegetation from speedtree using the incredible models from their store and edit by me. Geese from noggins and house modeled in wings3d.
c-ram, a charming landscape. Just in time for the current season.
How did you make these small spots of snow?
c-ram : Again an outstanding render and thanks for your comment.
adbc - much better but somehow the castle doesn't get the full credit. This must be on an other world with two suns because we se shadows from two sides. The sky looks great (though I liked the previous one as well).
c-ram - another beautiful artwork, very detailed. I like how the tops of the far trees at right slightly disappear in the rising fog or low cloud. The light from the sun looks cool and less strong like on a November day - on a sunny summer day it would be stronger with more saturated colours. The lighting really adds to the late November mood.
I think Bryce trees are not that bad, what I do miss are higher trunks with the crown higher up like you see in a forest. Trees standing alone have the branches low to protect the trunk from the sunlight but in a forest, there's not enough sunlight reaching down so foliage wouldn't get enough light and there's no need to keep the trunk out of sunlight.
The Giant Sequoia, a BTO tree, is the only (except palms) that has a long trunk and the foliage only high up. I took one and a default tree reduced to a bush and used the Instancing Lab to place them, 350 in total. I think manually placing instanced trees would have given a better result.
Horo, I think you need to work on the thickness of the branches. And these local sun rays look like a foreign spot against the background of the clear sky.
And yes, in addition to sequoia and two species of palm trees, there is also papaya with a long trunk. From it you can make both deciduous and coniferous trees.
In the picture: sequoia, papaya and palm.
Slepalex - thank you, very helpful. I'll try to remember papaya, it looks good in your example. And yes, I should have adjusted branch thickness, not just taken the BTO. Ha, the sun rays. Oh they do point to the sun but there should be no additional sunlight on the floor. You are quite right that it is a bit strange how I used it. But then, the whole forest is not very good.
Horo : I did not give up on the castle. To start with I had a desert scene in mind, the colours did not work out though, after a while it became other worldly. To be honest I do not see wha'ts wrong with the shadows, maybe the wall ?.
The last one : I brought the castle more in the foreground, still there is a small empty space on the right. The only lights are fill lights to make the castle visible.
Horo : Slepalex is right, by the way instancing does not work for me.
Took the risk to make a scene with trees, used the CTRL+I function to copy them (unnamed) the good thing is that it should take less time for rendering but the file is only 13,6 MB, rendertime : 3,5 hours, the bad thing is that it's difficult to have them in the right place since they are only visible in wireframe mode.
adbc - the shadow on the previous: a light shines from the right casting a long shadow on the ground at left. Seems natural. There is a second less dark shadow on the wall of the castle from a light shining from the left. That's what I meant.
Now the newest incarnation looks again much better to me.
What trees did you take? They certainly look much better than mine. Yes, manual instancing takes a lot of time but you can place the objects so that they are not hidden behind others and do not collide. Though I can use the IL without crashes, I find the placing works arbitrary and there seems to be no collision detect.
