How to prevent camera from flipping/rolling when using "point at" or orbiting

Hey guys,
I have been brainstorming to figure out a solution to this issue, but have been unsuccessful so far. Perhaps someone more seasoned in Daz will be able to help, I am hoping. The problem is quite simple: Whenever an object is set to "point at" another object, and the second object is moved, the first object will flip/somersault as it crosses the axis point.
I am familiar with the workaround of using a null and parenting the camera to the null. However, this solution only works if you need to rotate the camera around a null point.
In my application, I need the camera to be always pointing at a null which moves in space.
