And here I was thinking Daz somehow managed to change their connect encryption strategy under the hood based on actual files from my cloud folders. Its hard to tell what's a bug or feature these days. 'Thought only sales had that dilemma so far.
But as we are already on the path of getting content decrypted, I wonder if Daz would risk/bother to get them back encrypted.

the best way to support the decision is to buy stuff as it becomes downloadble in DIM etc so I am doing just that

Well, I bought Old Warehouse Room and Lulu Outfit Genesis 3 Female(s) when they were just over 30 days from going unencrypted.
Has anyone else noticed that we haven't had any new encrypted content since 2016-09-29? Is it dead, Bones?
I wouldn't bet on that... it's also possible that now, as we have seen that they really do decrypt the stuff, will start selling a new batch. But that is mere speculation.
It might encourage some to buy, but it is just too long to wait imo.
There were a three items I was interested from the first 6 or 7, but now? Not that bothered. And at a year old, they will start showing up in sales - perhaps; well they did i think; now there is a chance I'd pick em up.
I messed something yesterday that prevented DAZ Studio to show my DAZ Connect files and showed all my files in gray again. Tried downloading my latest purchase again from DAZ Connect and it showed in a regular structure like if downloaded by DIM or manually, not in the data/cloud individual folder.
Is there an option to have DAZ Connect folders to show in a standard runtime instead of the individual (and impossible to tell from each other) cloud files or it was some kind of bug?
Exactly. And the encrypted items have been showing up in various sales all along, once they've been in the store for more than 60 days. Now that it's no longer Encrypted Daz Connect, I'll be picking up the trench coat... I saw it for $5 and change recently. When I see it that low again, I may just go ahead and buy it.
Under Daz Studio Formats and Poser Formats the first item should be a folder named Daz Connect - that is an amalgamation of all those individual folders in the /Data/Cloud folder.
I had suggested a period of 1-3 months. I thought that if piracy reduced sales and the vast majority of sales are in the first month, well, there you go.

No, in the Content Directory Manager, the first Content Directory is Daz Connect Data. It is not under Daz Studio Formats or Poser Formats.
Sorry, I mean in the Content Library there should be a Daz Connect folder (a virtual folder) with the consolidated cloud folders listed as if they were a regular content diectory.
I suppose we're about to find out; I just got the Troubadour and textures tonight, and there are a few other encrypted goodies in my wishlist that'll be coming up on their due dates over the next few weeks. Fingers crossed.
The trenchcoat's store page says it's available in DIM, but I just bought it, and it isn't showing up.
It's there. I downloaded it earlier today. But, I think the tags are incorrect. I only see "Connect Available". It should at least have "Daz Studio 4.5+". Check your download filters and turn on Connect Available and see if you see the trenchcoat,

Yes, thank you, I meant if there was an option to make DAZ Connect downloaded items to be in a standard runtime structure. Sometimes I need access to the product folder and it can only be done inside DAZ Studio with the "browse to file location". The cloud folders make it hard to tell from each other.

Yeah I had to turn on Connect Available to see Troubdour stuff and the Trenchcoat I just bought - had to hid about a dozen Poser files for other stuff to clear it out (I don't have a Poser filter turned on) - I'd much rather it just turned up under 4.5+ so I can turn off that filter again.
Ah, I think that was not phrased right from my part, sorry. What I meant is, that they might go and sell a new batch of encrypted stuff, now that they have shown, for all critics to see, that they stand by what they have promised. Perhaps, to see if now more buyers can be enticed to buy encrypted products straight away, knowing that they will become released after a year.
Nope for me; what was valid about my DRM complaint is still valid. Sure some will likely feel they can succumb, but we all make our own choice on that.
If you get locked out of a product, knowing you can access it in twelve months is not a sinecure; most situations, Daz would have fixed the issue long before that. That's my objection, one can get locked out - we're at the mercy of something we have no control of. So the only way to retain some control is to not buy.
Connect items will always go to the Cloud folder, that's how it works. I'm not sure it could place a product in the regular content directory even if the data was misconfigured. Are you sure you hadn't previously installed the item manually or via DIM?
Huh? I could've sworn the trenchcoat & detective stuff was for Genesis 2, not 3. Been waiting a whole year only to find out it's still no good to me.
Anybody know where there's a G2M version or the like?
@Byrdie Eldritch Seeker has a nice trench coat.
Heh, I'm the opposite with the Troubadour and textures — it was such a long time, I'd forgotten it was for G2M. Wasn't really expecting that, since it comes with full 3Delight/Iray textures, which I'd always considered a G3 thing. Fortunately it all (except the poses) transfers pretty well, so I now have versions for G2F/M and G3F/M.
For an example, here's the Troubadour on Karen 7.
Nice render. At the moment I have no use for such an outfit but who knows, maybe someday. Eldritch Seeker is in my wishlist for whenever it comes up on sale again. Has no Poser Companion Files, alas, but I can roll my own assuming it still works in DS 4.8.
It does work in DS 4.8 as I am still on that version. :)
