Difference between Daz Products and files transfer from other location

Several times last year I purchased product thru Daz that the Metatags didn't assign to the proper folders. They were all in the Lost and Found. I was wondering if there is a way to tell which will work right (actual Daz Products) and which won't (transferred from another site)?

Well, if they have a ReadMe and it says which categories they appear in, then they should work "right" through Smart Content (give or take the odd error where the metadata hasn't been set up correctly).

If they don't have a ReadMe then there's a fair chance they won't. Although for new items being added to the store they occasionally miss the ReadMe anyway. But "Today's New Releases" (on any given day)  will generally have gone through Daz QA and metadata setup so will probably be fine.

Products in Lost and Found just mean the items within the products don't have Categories assigned but that won't prevent them from working well.... no matter the products were 100% from this store or migrated from Rendo.

You just need to manually assign Categories (and Content Types as well if they're also missing...) to those items if you rely on using Smart Content.

  • Crosswind, the trick to finding a lot of things in lost and found is to know the name you are looking for. Most times the items are renamed so you don't know what you're looking for. I also had trouble finding them in my Content Library because they were renamed. It made it too difficult to use. Ans a few I did find didn't work!

Melaniel, the sales page do NOT show readme files. You have to purchase it first, download it, and look into the file folder to see if it has one. I need to know before I buy.

Get yourself the Daz Deals browser add-on (if you can) - it gives a link to the ReadMe even in the free version. I'd hate to be without it!

Otherwise you can just save yourself a link to any Readme and change the SKU number to that for the product you are interested in buying. Here's a "random" such link:  SAMPLE README
