The 'Missing Files' box...and anudder thing... :)

Guyz and Galz...

Is there ANY way to turn that damn Gray 'Some files were missing' box into a "Do you wish to find the missing items?' Box?

Let us click & highlight the missing items in the list and find it in the system...PLEASE.

And another thought:

Can we PLEASE have a preference option to NOT save a Thumbnail?

I've been making renders of some of my Scene files...and LOCKING them...so Studio CAN'T save a gross looking thumbnail OVER it...

It DOESN'T like that. It thinks something's wrong.

Thankfully I can just close the box, but I'd appreciate an option for it NOT saving over the existing thumbnail...

Maybe LOCKING the thumbnail image IN the program, so it KNOWS not to oversave it?

Thanks, Gang. And be well.

  • Adding to this idea...

Auto-Find missing files... Since daz knows the name and knows where all the files might be. (Since, in some cases, it is just an issue of an accidentally misplaced file or hard-coded paths. "Try" looking past the first dir, the next, the next... Try going back from the root if it is not in the root, where the other file is requesting the file, etc...)

Also, leave the box populated so we can see the file we are looking for. The box closes when we try to find it, or it empties-out, and have to write it down or try to remember it.

P.S. Another idea... Record the CRC32 of the expected files, once they are found, instead of paths. Finding them could be instantaneous with a flat-file DB entry of CRC's and the paths to all known files. Not to mention that all duplicates could be killed and cross-linked. Only use paths when someone "Bundles a project" for distribution. (Oh, and make something that bundles projects for distribution, instead of having us dig around folders looking for things that we have no idea are even needed or that we didn't explicitly "set" in a location. Since Daz kind-of does its own thing, like placing files in folders and creating things, and managing dependencies behind the scenes.)
