Genesis 9 to Genesis 8 costume conversion issue

I'm trying to apply the Genesis 8 costume to the Genesis 9 costume.

The bottom part of the dress is distorted.

It was produced using 3D Max and Zbrush.

  • You need to smooth out the weight maps on the thigh bones, so that there isn't ab abrupt trasnition from moving with the left leg to moving with the right - though using a dress or skrt template in Transfer Utility/AutoFit should help..

A commonly-seen issue after auto-fitting... Since you have ZBrush, you can easily GoZ the garment. After smoothing / finetuning the distorted area in ZB, GoZ back to DS to update Base Geometry of the garment.

Then make / fix corrective morphs as usual ~~

Regarding the triangle thingie, how do you know, in Blender, when you have trully fixed it ?

When I'm trying to fix it, using the smooth brush in Sculpt mode, I regularly feel like I did enough to make it disappear, but after importing the morph back in Daz Studio, sometime it'll reappear at the start of a simulation (which usually fix the problem combined with what I tried to do).

Bonus question regarding Sculpt mode, do you know if it's possible to get the same grid to show in it like the ones who appears in Edit Mode with vertices ? It would at least give me an idea of the area where the mesh may need a bit more smoothing.

In my experience, export the garment with Smoothing Modifier On, smooth the triangular area in Blender and Update Base Geometry of the garment with OBJ in DS, I never see the issue re-appear at the start of simulation. And it's also a nice trick to make a perfect fit to avoid poke-thru... even without using Smoothing modifier then.

Yes, sculpt with show wireframe option turned on in Overlays to check and make sure the mesh is smoothed with good condition.(Screenshot 1)

    Thank you !

It's easier to see the problematic part with the mesh visible

    Thanks for your reply!
If you release it in Zbrush using GOZ, it will ask you to create a new object.
I also tried using the RSSY Gen 8 to 9 Clothing Converter, but it doesn't work with my dress.

You need to uncheck Export with Current Resolution when GoZ to ZBrush... i.e. must export with Base Resolution...

Those Converter may not really bring you better results than auto fit...
