Video background?

I'm confused about this product: https://www.daz3d.com/video-backgrounds--beach-01-and-02 How is a video "background" any different from a regular video? How would you use it within Daz Studio? How do you create an animation with no background to composite in video editing software like Adobe Premier (that I'm just learning.) I need more of an explanation of how exactly this product works and how it's different from a regular video.

Well from the description each of these "video backgrounds" seem to be an image sequence which will be automatically synchronized with your animation to use one different image for each frame, as well as matching cameras and lights for your scene.
Yes, the description pretty much explains it, it's two sets of 900 images each and a script that change the image when the timeline change, much easier to do in post in most cases, just render image sequence with transparency where the background should be and add the background you want in post.
I haven't tried animation yet but am planning to soon and I still don't understand how this is different from a regular video. Every video is an "image sequence" of individual frames. Couldn't I just stick my own video of the ocean as a background in DS if that's something that's possible?
You can't just add a video as background in Daz Studio.
That requires "texture animation" which Daz doesn't support. There are some scripts that can help, like in this product.
I assumed when I first saw them that they were animated HDRIs, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
Dreamlight posted a 30-minute video on his YouTube channel last week: Video Backgrounds - Beach 01 and 02 (). The first 9 m 30 s is about Video Backgrounds; the rest is about Filmora video editing software.
OK thanks. I passed on the video backgrounds because I prefer FilaToon if I'm going to get into animation, but that video software looks amazing! (or as Dreamlight calls it 1,000 times "insane" lol.)
there are several options for video backgrounds paid and free
most do lots more

appears to be the easiest one to use I don't own it
MCasual has a free script Texanim that does all of it too but not as easy to use
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/554116/texanim-2022-0414-animate-texture-maps-and-vdb-volumetrics
the advantage which many would like of the Dreamlight ones is it's all already set up ready to render
me? I use Carrara LOL
I bought Dreamlight's product before calling it a day on Monday. I'd seen his YouTube video on it a few days before he offered the product in the DAZ3D store. I figured, for only $2.99, I wouldn't be out of much if it was a bust. I’ve had Alvin Bemar’s ABAS: Animated Shaders System on my store wishlist for nearly a year but have not bought it even though it’s been on sale a few times. I’ve watched Jay Versluis’s two YouTube videos on ABAS several times. Alvin Bemar has two shorter YouTube videos on ABAS but, unfortunately, they have no narration – just onscreen instructions. I don’t get anything out of those kinds of videos.
Since buying Dreamlight’s Video Backgrounds - Beach 01 and 02 earlier this month, I downloaded his free Video Backgrounds - Beach Sunset - Clip 01 two days ago. After much frustration with trying to use them yesterday in Daz Studio 4.21, I discovered that they don’t work in that version. I thought to try them in version 4.23 (Beta) this afternoon and got mixed results loading them.
Video Backgrounds - Beach 01 and 02 loads (image 1) but Video Backgrounds - Beach Sunset - Clip 01 does not. I get the strange results that you can see in image 2 – a seemingly split screen (or strange artifact) and a strange display ratio even though a Success pop-up window is displayed.
Has anyone else who downloaded the freebie Video Backgrounds - Beach Sunset - Clip 01 while it was available had similar results or can possibly explain how to fix any of this? Thanks in advance.
I used Video Backgrounds - Beach Sunset - Clip 01 in DS 4.23.1.8 Public Build (Beta). When I load the Scene file, nothing shows in the viewport until I run the Live Preview 2K script. Evidently that loads images into the Environment pane for each Timeline key. Then it animates fine. There is no split screen, strange artifact, or strange aspect ratio for me. I have a PC with 32 GB RAM and a 3080 graphics card. Are your computer specs similar? You could try closing DS and restarting it before trying again. Don't run any other programs at the same time and see if it work.

barbult,
Hello and Happy Holidays. My computer’s specs are modes – 16 Bb RAM, RTX 2060 with 6 Gb VRAM. I tried the Live Preview scrips many times as well as closing and opening DS 4.23 many times but had no success with getting Video Backgrounds - Beach Sunset - Clip 01 to load in the Preview window. I tried again with no other programs running and still the same results.
I has seen your short animation video from another thread and Dreamlight’s YouTube video so I know that it works … just not on my system at present. I’m not going to spend any more time trying to resolve it, though. No worries; it was a freebie so no pennies lost.
Thanks.
You should return the purchased video products for a refund, since they don't work on your system. Submit a request – Daz 3D Help Center
It’s the freebie - Video Backgrounds - Beach Sunset - Clip 01 – that doesn’t work. The paid product ($2.99) - Video Backgrounds - Beach 01 and 02 - loads fine. I have not tried to render an animation with it, though, but that is not a high priority goal.
Huh, that seems strange. I don't own the purchased ones, though, so I can't compare them. Well, maybe someone else will have a suggestion. Crosswind is always insightful about these things.
