Smoothing Modifiers: "Interactive Update" setting resets upon scene reload

I am working on a rather large, complex scene with a lot of actors, and running into a recurring issue (not necessarily a new one, but one that's become especially problematic the larger the scenes I work on become). All of this is done for a comic project, so keep that in mind.

The situation I am encountering is like this:

I load a figure, add clothing. The clothing has smoothing modifiers and by default the "Interactive Update" setting is "On". This makes posing, positioning, and adjusting morphs significantly slower, so I go through all of their clothing and accessories and make sure Interactive Update is turned off, as well as disabling hair previews. When I do so, I am able to quickly adjust poses, morphs, and scene positioning. This is the desired situation.

I save the scene. I close Daz. I reopen Daz later that day or the next day, reopen the scene to create the next "step" of the scene. Every item in the scene has had their "Interactive Update" setting reverted to default.

For one character this is annoying, but manageable. For 15-20 characters, some of whom might only have 1 or 2 items that have smoothing enabled, this has me pulling my hair out and losing my mind.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? I'm willing to go through troubleshooting steps if anyone can help me diagnose what may be causing this issue, but the scene that is giving me trouble takes ~20 minutes to load/unload so if there is a shotgun approach that will solve it *quickly*, consequences be damned, I'll go for that one.
