What would cause a single G9 figure to swamp memory?

What would cause a single G9 figure to take up 40.9 GB of computer main+virtual memory and 10.54 GB of GPU memory?

I am running DAZ3D 4.22.01 Pro edition 64-bit public build on a windows 10 box with 32GB ram and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12 GB.

To render this figure, I can be doing nothing else on my computer at the same time. I discovered the problem when renders were aborting with GPU out of memory errors. I have rendered many hundreds of g9 figure images on this machine as described. I've never had this problem before. I am unable to discern from the log file why this is happening.

What could be causeing this one figure to swamp my momory resoruces?

Render Subdivision value too high, for one thing.
  • Thank you, Barbult! That appears to have been the problem. The minimum subdivision level had been pushed up to 8! I do not know how that happened. Probably a slip of the mouse. I sent it back down to 3. Now it is using 16 GB of main memory and about 6.55 GB of GPU memory.
