I'm backing up my DAZ Studio hard drive with SyncBackFree

I have about 20 years of work including all the characters and cartoons I created. This stuff can't be replaced in my opinion. I haven't been consistent in making backups. Yesterday I discovered SyncBackFree, and am putting it to work.

I love the fact that this software is really free. There are no nagging advertisements etc. I'm using the Mirror function to make an exact backup of my 3TB hard drive. We're 11 hours into the job, and maybe halfway done.

I haven't used DAZ Studio in many months. I decided to let DIM look for updates. I was shocked to realize my external DAZ Studio hard drive was not working. I did some frantic troubleshooting, and realized it was a bad USB 3.0 cable. Fortunately, I have many spare cables.

I didn't have a backup copy of the DAZ Studio hard drive. I'll make one tonight. I have an internal 7TB hard drive and internal 7TB hard drive connected to my mini computer I will move some files around and then move my DAZ Studio installation over to the 7TB hard drives. Those 7TB hard drives are less than a year old. The 3TB hard drives are several years old.

Split the second post out of the Premier thread and moved it here.

Thanks, Richard. I got started on this path because I figured that my DAZ Studio installation was out of date. Then I just rambled on from there. Sorry.

I've been using SyncBack for several years; a mixed bag of mirrors and backups.

I like SyncBack because it is trivial to verify the backups - it is, at the core, just an inntelligent copy utility and verification consists of looking at the destination.

Hey namffuak, how are you? It's good to hear from you!

My initial backup took 23 hours to finish.

Ypu know, the name seems familiar to me. I might have used it long ago, and forgot. I'm getting older, and the memory sometimes fails me.

I've been around, mostly lurking, since 2005. I am at the age where I'm collecting physicians, but overall I'm in pretty good shape considering the shape I'm in. cheeky

I joined the DAZ community when it was known as Zygote, back in 1999. Since then, my community participation has evolved.

I'm 74 years old, and dealing with Diabetes Type 2, bad knees, etc. I have an excellent support system, including my physician and regular visits from our Home Health personnel at my apartment building, etc.

    Take care!
