slow rendering

Hello folks, since the last update of DAZ studio I've been doing very slow rendering iray very slowly, so far I've been doing great, but now it's going disastrously, can't you advise me what to do ?

the processor is AMD Ryzen 7 7700

Raphael 5nm technology

the graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, 12 gb and 32 gb ram, what happened ? at the beginning the rendering goes quite ok, after some time it slows down what is going on, please nothing like that so far

Is your nVidia drver sufficiently new?

yes I have the latest update, so at least the program doesn't show me the new version 565 .90 now I've turned off the option to use the backup processor and it's going quite ok, so the box in the daz studio is called allow CPU fallback, did I do it right?

Noticing similar. Takes a long time to start and it doesn't use much of the GPU according to the NVidia panel. Used to nearly ping 100%.

but I also have the feeling that it takes more of the processor than the graphics card, but I enabled CPU fallback and turned it off and it seems to have helped

I'll have to try that and see if it uses the GPU more.

    This is my recommendation:

    • Uncheck CPU and check the box for your GPU in both the Photoreal Mode and Interactive Mode sections of the Render Settings pane on the Hardware tab. You would think that by using both CPU and GPU, the render would go faster, but in past experience, it actually went slower. I think it is because the work handed off to the CPU goes so slow compared to the GPU. It is better to let the GPU do all the work.
    • Check Allow CPU Fallback. This only comes into play if your scene is too big to render on your GPU. Then it is allowed to use (fall back to) the CPU for rendering, Of couse, it will be very slow, but you will get a render.  If you don't check this box, the scene will not be rendered.

  • I just noticed this issue on my latest render.  5 year DAZ user.  Production-level rig (Ryzen 7800X3D, RTX 4090).

For whatever reason, the render runs fine till about 60% completion (sample size irrespective) and then the wattage just drops and even if you cancel the render, DAZ just goes into complete "Not Responding" mode on Windows).

for now, the scenes look great, but after some time the rendering turns off. maybe it's because the screen goes into sleep mode, I don't know, but at least something was rendered faster

I peeked it out after 1 hour and a half, it takes over the processor but why , ? The speed drops tremendously from 25 sec to 2 minutes, you don't know what it is?

It has dropped out of the GPU - most likely it ran out of memory - and is now using CPU because you had CPU fallback enabled or because it was alreadys et to use the CPU as well as the GPU.

daz studio is set to use only the graphics card, do I have the option to use the CPU backup? What is your recommendation? After all, I have a 12 GB graphics card, I don't understand how it can go out of memory

You have Allow CPU Fallback checked at the bottom - if you turn that off and restart DS the render will justs top when the GPU drops out.

What is in the scene, and how big is the image it is rendering? Check the humans, and anything else that might have SubD applied (if you switch to wire-shaded drawstyle you will see strong mesh lines for the actual base mesh and fainter lines for SubD, if it is applied), to make sure that their render SubD level is reasonable (try lowering anything over 4 and see if that helps)

Same. Render times have slowed catastrophically since I downloaded 4.23, and the Post denoiser no longer seems to work. Is there any way to go back to 4.22?  It was working fine, rendering fast and smooth.

Both symptoms (slow render and denoiser not working) are indicitive of CPU rendering. Denoiser requires GPU render. Is your graphics card driver up to date? Does your Daz Studio log file (Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File) show whether the GPU was used? It should have info like this is everything is OK.

the scene is not big, I have already made a scene and I use these figures, but the old version of the DAZ studio and it went perfectly, I had the pictures within 2 days, but now it is just a disaster, even though I had turned off the CPU, fallback, after an hour and a half the speed dropped

    graphic driver is update.

I guess it's actually going to be something that's on the scene because I found this

For me, GPU only rendering was even slower. Leaving both enabled.

  • My thinking is that this could all be Iray related.  I've only been able to replicate this issue in one scene with 2x Gen 9 HD Daz Original figures using HD Textures.  As mentioned, I have a RTX 4090 (24GB VRAM) and HWM shows I'm only using 70% VRAM and 40% RAM during the render.

I have CPU Fallback disabled, as I don't like the thermals on my CPU when rendering.  In any case, my GPU has been able to handle anything and everything till DS 4.23.

At about 60% completion, the render just goes into some sort of logic freeze.  My GPU power draw goes from 250W to 80W and just sits there.  I even waited two minutes with no progression (see attached).  DAZ did not freeze.

However, after cancelling the render, DAZ goes into "Not Responding" state in Windows (essentially freezing).  I then have to close DAZ using Task Manager.

This only happens in one scene, I haven't been able to replicate it in others but I'm sure I'll run into it somewhere.  My solution was to hide one of the figures prior to the render, and that got me to 100% completion.  I'll say this again - memory headroom is not an issue for me.

but only for me at the beginning it goes very well, picture after picture within 1 minute, even 3 pictures. I have a specific setting for it, so far it worked perfectly, as soon as the update came, it didn't work so well at the beginning, yes, but after an hour and a half, the processor took over, even though I had CPU fallback turned off, which is strange, or rather, it didn't render anymore. I don't know. I'm 100% sure that it won't be the computer that I turn off every hour and a half, set it up again and turn on the rendering. I repeat, it didn't work until now, I don't know what happened. and I also paid too much for the premiere, so I got it xD
