    1)  Will there be an annual plan, and if so will there be a discount for paying for an entire year at once (e.g. $200 for the year instead of $227.88)?  I do not want to pay on a monthly basis.

None has been announced so far, but you never know.

    2)  What is meant by "$10 off when you spend $25 or more on select content monthly" ?  What counts as "select content"?  Is it just content that is older than 2 months (aka not new any longer), and not Fast Grab or DAZ+ items?  Can it include PA content or not?

From what I've read the rules seem to be the same as for the Daz+ PA coupon, only the amounts are different.

2a)  When does that $10 coupon show up?  Immediately after a qualifying purchase or does it show up at the beginning of the next month?

Should be after membership purchase, like Daz+ membership.

    3)  "Unlock a FREE character bundle every month!"  Are these new character bundles or do you get an old one for free.  If it's a new character bundle, will people in lower tiers be able to purchase that new bundle?   Is it the equivalent of a full bundle or just a starter bundle?  If it's a starter bundle, is there also a full bundle that you can get a deep discount on?

Available bundles for current month are these: https://www.daz3d.com/premier-characters

So new bundles out of extisting content, and you can purchase them when not a premier member. Whether or not future ones will follow the same pattern is anyone's guess.

    4)  "Export entire environment scenes directly from Daz Studio into Blender, preserving all your selected Daz props and assets for further refinement"  Does this include things like dforce clothing, instancing, and strand based hair?

No idea, but the answer is likely "whatever the current bridge can export".

    5)  "Manage your content effortlessly with the Daz Install Manager (DIM)"  Can I still use the Product Library downloads for these assets?  I hate DIM.  It is clunky and doesn't allow me to grab thumbnails for products so I can see exactly what I have.

There has been nothing suggesting that manual downloads would go away. They're just advertising DIM on the membership page.

    6)  "Experiment with AI-driven creativity with AI Studio Free"  Will the AI Studio be able to use all my assets or just a tiny portion that's been loaded in?  I don't bother with AI Studio because it's so limited.

There's nothing new regarding AI studio with the introduction of Premier membership, it's just advertised on the membership page.

    7)  "Unlock access to exclusive Premier Only content - Content is active as long as Subscription is active"  Will there be a way to purchase that exclusive content?  I don't want to get content that will magically disappear on me.

No idea, but that's an interesting question...

I'm in the Premier tier currently, the choice of free bundles for this month is here: https://www.daz3d.com/premier-characters

    Thank you !

Thanks.  Looking at that link make Premier less of a value to me today.  These new bundles that are free to Premier are stuff I already have.  I have all but 1 item in all those bundles (an earring set from Pixie).  Making that "Perk" virtually worthless to me (at least this month).  I already have 75+% of the Gen9, Gen 8.1, and Gen 8 Pro Bundle Cores.  I probably have 90+% of the Gen9, Gen 8.1, and Gen 8 starters.  Making this feature useless to me for a while.

Yeah, gonna add myself to the list of those who find the "personalized deal" insulting. Regardless of what was paid, they're offering 2 months of premiere ($40) to replace 12 months of + (was $70, now $120). That's not a bargain, that's a ripoff.

I raised a support ticket to ask how it was calculated. I doubt I'll get a reply, and even if I do, they are probably pretty busy right now...

    But I definitely won't get a reply if I don't ask.

If DAZ want me to spend over $200 per year they need to include:-

An up to date manual for the software, that gets updated with each new release ( with an additional section on the beta releases )

    The HD plugin

Access to previous releases of Studio for times when an upgrade breaks features.

I won't hold my breath waiting....

edited: Forgot to add .. a monthly discount for the plugins I already own which Premier duplicates

Much as I'd like the manual, that doesn't exist and would cost a fortune to produce. I can't see that.

On the other hand, the HD tool most definitely does exist and is withheld for unknown reasons. In paid software, that isn't a good story. They are charging the sort of money that will get you Photoshop.

If software is free I can forgive the abscence of a manual ( though most free software includes one ). If software is costing me over $200 per year a manual is a requirement.

I know the manual does not currently exist, and it would cost a lot to create one. That's what I expect DAZ to spend some of the profit they make on.

Welp, I had a very good (and too expensive) last month with the PA sale, picking up a huge amount of wishlisted content for about less and a $1 each on average.

So maybe this announcement came at the right time, I have 0 interest in premier, I like to own the things not rent them, also, a monthly subscription model (both + and premier) means that not likely of gettinng the discount, anymore, I think I paid about $45 for my current + membership, which ends July 25. I won't be signing up to $10 a month let alone the Premier price.

Which might well be a good thing, because it'll dramatically decrease my spending, which I've noticed much higher these last few months compared to pretty much none at all when I had a spell without +.

As someone who doesn't like or interested in Gen9, this appeals even less, as it seems to heavily be focused around selling Gen9 as the key aspect.

  • I also sent in a support ticket. I've got 9 months left on my Daz+ and they offered me just one month of premier.

I would love a manual too, and not having one is extremely poor. I just don't realistically expect to get one.

I feel that withholding essential tools in paid software is inexcusable. Is there any other 3D application that puts essential features behind a wall that is impossible to break down for 99.9999% of users?

I have just cancelled my payment via Paypal and I have been offered 30% off my next annual Daz + subscription. Does this mean annual subscriptions still exist?

  • richardandtracyrichardandtracy Posts: 5,688

Interesting that the tokens last 2 weeks as opposed to the few days that they do at the moment.

Will confess, there's little likelhood that I'll be able to take advantage of them given how irregularly I buy away from PA sales. However, it could well be useful for those who buy a bit more frequently than I.

I've not paid a lot of attention to the old tokens, but I get the feeling the new ones are more valuable at 1 to 4 tokens (7, 13, 18 & 22% discount as opposed to 5, 10, 15 & 20%) used than the old, the same for 5 tokens and less valuable when used at 6 or above in a purchase. For the non paying members, the tokens are more expensive to achieve. Not that I'm bothered, only once have I ever had tokens to use.

    Regards,

    Richard

My Offer is to exchange my 9 months of Daz+ I have left for 3 months of Premier .. so $89.91 of Daz+ (at the new $9.99) for $56.94 of Daz Premier.

    Do they think we're stupid?

At least you got offered 3 for 9 I got offered 2 for 13.

I got offered 8 premiere months for 55 Daz+ months - the scales of offers are inconsistent accros the realm of Daz+ members.

I'm noticing that they have worked with ManFriday and his/her plugins. They are great, I own some of his/her stuff... But I also noticed they completely ignored animations once again...

No new tweener, no evident support for queued images series or videos, no clear improvement in the timeline, no trace of any improvements in that direction...

Another slap on the face of serious animators. angry

Those sound like things that would be in the base application, not add-ons like the Premiere stuff.

= I own all the "launch month" content except for the Pixie 9 bundle that I never wanted/ never had a use for.   Overall this new membership tier is only of value if this is Daz day 1 for new customers.  Existing Daz customers are getting worse offers than existing Spectrum/ Cox cable TV suscribers.

I'm paid up on DAZ+ until August 2026.  I wasn't offered ANY months in exchange for DAZ Premiere.  I spend a lot of money each month here.  I don't feel very appreciated right now.

    1)  Will there be an annual plan, and if so will there be a discount for paying for an entire year at once (e.g. $200 for the year instead of $227.88)?  I do not want to pay on a monthly basis.

    4)  "Export entire environment scenes directly from Daz Studio into Blender, preserving all your selected Daz props and assets for further refinement"  Does this include things like dforce clothing, instancing, and strand based hair?

    5)  "Manage your content effortlessly with the Daz Install Manager (DIM)"  Can I still use the Product Library downloads for these assets?  I hate DIM.  It is clunky and doesn't allow me to grab thumbnails for products so I can see exactly what I have.

    6)  "Experiment with AI-driven creativity with AI Studio Free"  Will the AI Studio be able to use all my assets or just a tiny portion that's been loaded in?  I don't bother with AI Studio because it's so limited.

    7)  "Unlock access to exclusive Premier Only content - Content is active as long as Subscription is active"  Will there be a way to purchase that exclusive content?  I don't want to get content that will magically disappear on me.

I'll probably have more questions later but getting answers to these would be a good start.  BTW - I don't understand the reasoning behind "Exclusive Premiere Only content".  They tried that with a few DAZ+ items and quickly stopped due to the backlash.

    1) Would you buy an annual plan for something this pricey right before holiday sales when it might become cheaper? Conversely, what about only subscribing a few months a year during the biggest sales? (An annual plan would indeed help people based outside the USA avoid exorbitant VAT tax.)

    2) The "$10 off $25 worth of Daz Items" coupon seems more permissive than the old $6 off $18. Fine print says "Excludes New Releases, Gift Cards, FastGrab, licenses, & memberships" and for me it worked for a combo cart of Daz Originals, Daz+ items and PA items. The other coupon is for "$10 off Daz Originals." It only works for Daz Originals but seemingly has no other restriction. Fine print says "Excludes Daz+ items, Gift Cards, FastGrab, licenses, & memberships." I put a debut new release Daz Original in a cart by itself and the coupon showed a flat $10 discount so it appears to work for ALL Daz Originals, even brand new ones.

2a) Looks like it would renew at the beginning of the month, just like how the Daz Plus coupons worked. (If you sub to Premier the first round of coupons are available immediately.)

    3) Character bundles are here https://www.daz3d.com/premier-characters Today's list seems like mini starter packs of existing assets most Daz Plus members have already had a chance to buy. Even if Daz starts adding all-new characters to the freebie bundles in future months, the content bundled with the characters may already have been available earlier (so you'd maybe already have it) and/or you'd be looking at buying the Starter or Pro bundle anyway to get the extra clothing/accessories/HD morphs; likely making the Permier tier character freebies comletely redundant imo.

    4) If it can do better than the free Diffeomorphic plugin, I'm all ears. :)

    5) afaik the DIM experience stays the same.

    6) afaik the AI Studio Free experience stays the same.

    7) Whatever content they're referring to (I think it's just the integrated plugins in Daz Premier edition?) will become unavailable without an active sub. It's a hook to keep people subscribed. If it's characters or something, it'd be risky to build art or projects around them when you can buy standalone content you can use forever.

It really doesn't matter how they're calculated. The issue is that currently it would cost $120 to replace the year of Daz Plus I have left, and they're only offering $40. That calculation is fairly straightforward and it's a ripoff.

No perpetual licenses at the very least, content that is only usable when subscription is active. Expensive when many of us have to worry about the rising price of food, fuel, and energy. Yeah, no, I won't be buying anything more from DAZ for going down this road.

The jist of my text was that the offer was so bad it must surely be a mistake. Either please offer me a fair deal or explain why this is fair. However, the ticket isn't in the list, so not sure what happened there.

+1 Agreed. For me I have 28 months left that would otherwise cost me about $280 and DAZ is only offering me 3 months of Premier that would otherwise cost me about $57.

Quick question because I find all this confusing.

I turned down their offer for Premier which isn't valuable to me as a casual Daz user.

I elected to keep my Daz+ account which I had paid for until May 2025.

Does this mean that from now to May 2025 I have to pay $9.99 a month instead of what I had already paid?

I'm not. Still shows that I'm base membership only and when I click my "personalized" offer it shows none because it shows me as a base membership when I'm paid up till April.

Same. Paid till April, still says I have no membership. Not really enthused about all this.

To chuck another datapoint into the mix, I have about 9 months left on my + sub, it's offering me 2 months Premier in return. I'm not biting - it seems like a very poor deal. If there was a once-only  "try Premium for a month for $10" offer that wouldn't affect the membership I've already bought and paid for I might be interested, but I'm not throwing away $50 worth of subs to switch permanently.

It'll be interesting to see what effect the new tier has on sales. One of the biggest, and least promoted, benefits of + membership is the extra savings you get in sales. All those "get this extra saving when you buy a new release, or for free if you're a Daz+ member" deals add up over the year. Will they still offer those perks to + members in the future? Or will you have to be premium to get them?

I don't expect to be buying Premium, and I'll probably let + lapse too if they don't re-instate an annual option with heavy discounts now and then. I don't suppose many people spent more than $40 or so for annual Daz+ membership, how many are willing to pay $120? I'm not!

Just my 30,935 cents CAD. It seems pretty straight forward.

However, on first glance I don't see much point for me in upgrading (I'm good until dec 2025). If I were new to DAZ and didn't already own every tool for DAZ Studio that they have ever offered, then Premier (paid) DAZ Studio would seem like a deal.

I would have to start buying a lot to take advantage of the increased saving. Monthly subsciption fees suggest to me that there won't be future discount offers on membership (HOPEFULLY I am completely wrong).

The whole situation makes me nervous about DAZ's future because it seems like over the last 24 months they have been scrambling to find a revenue model that will keep the doors open. BUT another way to look at this is DAZ now offers a paid version of DAZ Studio and if you buy a subscription then you get all the other goodies on top of a DAZ Studio Premier which is funded for development.

    (1) memberships after your current membeship expires are monthly. Nothing happens to your current membership.

    (2) Please note: "Access exclusive Premier Only content - available for the duration of your subscription"

https://www.daz3d.com/memberships (Please read the FAQ at the bottom of the page.)

    (3) Daz Base Free or Daz Plus $9.99/Mo or Daz Premier $18.98/Mo.

    https://www.daz3d.com/subscription/membership

    (4) If you are a DAZ+ membership and you want to upgrade go to this link:

    https://www.daz3d.com/subscription/membership/offer

See you get a lot for 30,935 cents CAD.

I agree with forum posts on this topic that being able to buy a perpetual licence for Premier DAZ Studio is preferable to a subscription based model. Affinity (Canva) does this with a major version release every 2 years. It may amount to the same cost, but I own my copy even if i am not an Affinity member.

I am for sure not getting Premiere, and when Daz+ is over I am done with that. I am just not subscripting to a monthly fee.

Sorry, I'm already paying fees for ADOBE, and MIDJOURNEY, and UDIO, and AMAZON.  In fact, because I'm paying all those other fees, I'm buying about 80% less content at DAZ3D.  If it wasn't for the discounts because of the frequent DAZ sales, I'd be buying zero content at DAZ3D.  Until the most recent sale, I hadn't bought ANY content here for the last 6 months.  And I used to be spending a small FORTUNE here every month.
