How to teleport an object to yourself?

I'm new to DAZ, sorry if I'm writing in the wrong place. How do I move an object to myself? For example, in other similar programs you could press the "C" key and the object would teleport near the "main camera." Is there something similar in DAZ?

    If your current View is a Camera, select an object, Ctrl + F

    If you need to keep the camera where it is, because there are already things there, then one option is to find something with its centrepoint in the view (so that you can see its manipulator gizmo when it is selected), turn off Parent in Place in the Scene pane option menu, and parent the item you wish to move to the item with the visible centrepoint - the item will then snap to align its own centrepoint with that item (if it's the camera you are using you will then need to Z translate the object a bit to bring it into view). You can then turn Parent in Place back on and unparent the item, which will leave it in its new location 9at which point you may need to reset scale and rotations, depending on the transforms applied to whatever you parented it to).

    Do be aware that if your viewpoint is away from the origin you can quite quickly start to see render artefacts - eye layers of hair skullcaps not being properly resolved, producing black patterns). Ideally you want to keep things near the centre of the scene, but you can force a recalculation by changing the Instance Optimisation option in Render Settings (just make sure you put it back to memory if you have isntances in the scene).

    Ah... if you don't want the camera to move... you also can use this script from mcasual (2023 version). You can assign a short cut to the script and even define how close the object is to the cam.

    Then press F3, on the left panel, expand Custom list, locate the created action, RMB-click to assigne a shortcut key. (ss2)

    This is very helpful thank you! Also slightly off topic. What are you using for the categories on the left side of your menu? I see the icons for the different genesis models? Would love to know!

    Tell me more about this.  I have just seven characters in one room, and even that seems too far for IRay to keep track of which surface it sees.

    In Render Settings just change the Instance Optimisiation to something else, then put it (back) on Memory if you are actually using instances.

    Oh, nothing special, they're custom actions of the duf files of Genesis 8 / 9 figures, some pose conversion scripts. I just put them on the left toolbar for a one-click loading.
