save characters for future personal usage

I am wanting to do a webcomic or something like that.  I want to start creating mashed up characters from what I have in my library.  I don't want to remember I used character x's morphs, character y's skin textures and character z's eye textures and what morphs I changed to make the character look more unique.

Is there a way to save the story characters I made with all the changes and clothes and hair and etc in DS so I can load just the character for the scenes I want?

Save them as scene subsets, then you can merge them in your other scenes.

A note though: once merged in the scene there won't be any link to the scene subset, they're just regular parts of the scene. If you change something in the scene subset it won't update the scenes that used it.

Before saving a scene subset with a figure, zero the pose and memorize the figure

    I used the sub-scene workflow.

This product (payable) is worth a look (Gen2 - Gen8.1): https://www.daz3d.com/dial-fusion-for-genesis-2-to-81 (currently on offer... well worth full price if you plan to do "a lot" of characters)

Works really well and removes some of the niggles of "scene subsets"

Is there also a Genesis 9 version?
