I've never had this happen before, and this seems to be specific to this one character... not sure if it's a textue or what but ...
If I view it in any mode (Texture based, filament, wireframe...etc. all is well) if I click to view in iray... Daz crashes. with an exception:

Check if the character have one or more tiff images.
And If, try to remove then, and if you then can render, save them as jpg or png.
Another thing to check: does the character maybe use an OOT hair with their custom hair shader? This shader can cause problems with recent versions of Iray if you don't use the latest version.
same here
Same what? Are you echoing the list of things to check? If you are having what you think is the same issue have you checked the things suggested?
Okay....I was able to find another version of the character I saved...that worked ...
So I brought up them both in my scene...and did a compare...
I think it had to do with a texture on the skin... which is crazy... but... when I copied the skin from the one that didn't crash to the other...
I could get them both to work in Iray....
I'm thinking the first character was created with an early set of iray skin.. or something before the full implementation of the product.....
Wow!
Glad I was able to save the character though...
Thanks for the support though!

You know...that may have been related... I did have an OTT hair product on it originally... and I removed it at the same time I did the Skin swap...

Thanks All!
Well if you still have the scene with that hair, you can try checking in the surfaces tab if it uses OOT custom shader. In that case, try removing any map applied to Transmitted Colour (click the button to the left of the colour picker and select None).
