Characters throw duplicate file errors

The Magic Brush characters Yomi and Carmel both throw duplicate file errors. Who needs to know about that?

They already know and have known for months.

I uninstalled both characters with DIM and the errors continued. I went into my library and the files were both still there. I had to remove the files manually since DIM failed to remove them.

Not only on those two, there're at least four or five more as far as I've seen the reported issues. It seems they've known for months, given no fix, while still releasing new products (with new errors probably ~~~ haha). Intolerable ~~

They weren't Connect installs? You hadn't manually placed copies, or moved files from their original installation location (especially if that meant the files were already presdent in a location to which DIM then (re)installed them)?

Probably you had the products installed in multiple Libraries ?

I helped a folk who bought a few products from them, I found duplicate formulas in his DS log related to 5 MB characters... Then he told me the issue was gone after he uninstalled all the MB products in DIM.

I think the 1st batch of QA should've been carefully done by the content creators... That would be ridiculous if the vendor didn't do so because all these duplicate formulas come from the products of there own ~

No I installed them with DIM and no I don't manually place anything except things that can't be installed with DIM which I don't have any problems with, and this was a fresh library install in ciustom folders since my C drive fills far too fast when my library is on my C drive, since I had to reinstall windows a while back. And DIM didn't reinstall anything I uninstalled them and DIM did nothing because  the files were still there. I am not gonna reinstall them until the issue is fixed.

Nope fresh install of my library on a new drive bought specifically for my library.

Try reinstaling the products, then in a file browser go to the folder DIM is writing to (the base, My Daz 3d Library or whatevere yours is called) - you should see a file named InstallManagerFileRegister.json - select it and rename it (e.g. add an X at the front), restart DIM, and uninstall the characters. Then restore the original name of the InstallManagerFileRegister.json file, and make sur that the characters are really gone this time.

Out of curiosity. Should I bother doing that? I went in and found the folder that the characters were in and deleted it and now I don't have the problem anymore.

Well, that is a fix, yes - and actually probably bo worse than mine (neithr would fix the incorrect listing of the files as installed before the installer).

If you move the library, the DIM Manifest files which contain the install paths for installed products will still point to the old library path, so DIM has probably attempted to uninstall the products there instead of where they actually were.

Not when there is no longer a library, I didn't just move the library, I redid it entirely starting from nothing. Because like I said, I reinstalled windows.

What do you mean by that last part? me installing them with DIM was the only time they were installed there was no previous install, because I was starting from nothing.

Leaving files behind means either means they were already there (and so DIM made a note not to remove them, in case they were shared with another product - e.g. the Hair Blending shader with a lot of Out Of Touch hairs) or that they were not in the original location (so DIM didn't know to remove them at all) - you said you hadn't moved them between instal and uninstall so it sounded like the former; in any event, if you reinstalled on top of the original install it would have been true then, and manually removing the files won't update the note DIM made not to uninstall them later if you do subsequently reinstall the products.

  • I am fairly upset that DAZ does not protect its customers from buying semi -finished or poorly programmed products. I have a long list of products that produce a lot of duplicate formula ... Error. Is it the inability to carry out reasonable quality control or is this ignorance?

I can only urgently warn against buying Magic Brush and Vootw products, how to see the list. And as I said, DAZ seems not care.
